Hi everyone! I can't believe January is almost over and after Friday, we will have completed 9 tiny paintings - our first set this year. Wet into wet and water control was an intense first topic, and while important, I think a lot of us are ready to move onto the next technique haha. Below is the schedule and topic theme for the month of February. As a reminder, this year the 100 tiny paintings will revolve around a new technique each month, keeping the same Tuesday/Friday schedule so that we end up with 8-9 paintings per month and 100 by the end of the year.

The theme for February: Texture effects

Feb 1st: live class 1PM MST

The link to this class will be posted here on patreon Sunday morning and will be recorded and saved for anyone who can't make it.

This live class will deep dive and cover the basics of this month's technique: texture effects. We'll talk about the basic elements, the different textures we'll work on, how much water or pigment to have in your brush, strokes and brush angles. We'll also cover exercises you can practice in your sketchbook and "homework" to help you improve this technique in stress free ways before you start on a painting.

Tuesday/Friday tiny paintings: Each Tuesday and Friday this month a tiny painting will be posted. The tiny painting videos include full video instructions, color mixing and reference photos and sketch outlines when applicable.

End of month live class: Feb 23rd @ 12PM MST

At the end of the month we will paint a picture together from a reference photo. This class is also recorded and saved so you can watch back at any time. We will be voting on and choosing together a picture that uses a lot of the texture techniques we have gone over this past month. This will help us solidify what we've learned into something bigger as we walk through how to paint a piece from start to finish, live.

I can't wait to paint with you this month!

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Kristin

Kirstin, I've just joined this adventure with you and I am so impressed and thankful to have happened onto this. I love these mini paintings - they fit so perfectly into a busy week where it's possible to carve out 20 minutes to do something for me. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us! I'm beyond grateful!

So excited ❤️

I learned a lot with the January lessons, and one thing is that without watching your instructions my paintings take a deep dive into wet on what is this supposed to be. But I am practicing a lot and I am trying to paint the lesson without your instructions. I have a long way to go. I am humoring myself. Looking forward to painting with you again, this time in Italy!

Hi, Kristin. I liked the January paintings and feel as if I really learned something. I'm ready for February. I think I missed something. Can we not go back to watch a specific tutorial?

Erin Berlin

All the tutorials are in the Collections tab. You can always go back, even through all the years.
