Amethyst crystal for #10! We're kicking off texture month by using cling wrap to get a base layer of random textures for our crystals. The key: make sure the values are light and fairly wet for the base layer. Also use a very limited bright palette so the sections stay bright and clean without looking muddy. Slowly build up the textures and layers bit by bit, leaving the the darker contrasting bits for the very end. I can't wait to see how you do with this one! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Paper: arches 140 lb cotton 9X12" paper that I've cut into 3X3" pieces, giving me 12 pieces per page.
Cling wrap for random and organic textures.
Paint: For this project I am using a split primary palette- cad yellow deep, lemon yellow, cad red, magenta, ultramarine blue, cerulean, indigo and sap green. The colors I'm using today are - perm. rose and cerulean with a bit of indigo at the end. I'm also mixing my own brown using ultramarine blue, cad red and cad yellow, but you can use a convenience brown if you prefer not to mix.
Brushes: round 4 - Princeton brand.
