March schedule (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone! I can't believe February is almost over and after Friday, we will have completed 8 more tiny paintings - for a total of 17 this year. Texture month has been an absolute blast and really challenged us to rethink how we approach our watercolor paintings. Below is the schedule and topic theme for the month of March. As a reminder, this year the 100 tiny paintings will revolve around a new technique each month, keeping the same Tuesday/Friday schedule so that we end up with 8-9 paintings per month and 100 by the end of the year.
The theme for March: Glazing and Layering
Sunday March 1st: live class 1PM MST
The link to this class will be posted here on patreon Sunday morning and will be recorded and saved for anyone who can't make it.
This live class will deep dive and cover the basics of this month's technique: glazing and layering. We'll talk about the basic elements, how to make sure we don't lift paints as we glaze, how much water or pigment to have in your brush, strokes and brush angles. We'll also cover exercises you can practice in your sketchbook and "homework" to help you improve this technique in stress free ways before you start on a painting.
Tuesday/Friday tiny paintings: Each Tuesday and Friday this month a tiny painting will be posted. The tiny painting videos include full video instructions, color mixing and reference photos and sketch outlines when applicable.
End of month live class: Thursday March 26th @ 12PM MST
At the end of the month we will paint a picture together from a reference photo. This class is also recorded and saved so you can watch back at any time. We will be voting on and choosing together a picture that uses a lot of the glazing techniques we have gone over this past month. This will help us solidify what we've learned into something bigger as we walk through how to paint a piece from start to finish, live.
I can't wait to paint with you this month!
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
