Blueberries for 19! I didn't mean to do more berries so soon, whoops haha. Blueberries are one of my favorite things to paint with the layering and glazing technique. We're also doing a bit of negative painting at the beginning of this one, so trust the process and remember there are a lot of moments during this painting where you'll question if it looks good, keep going! Build up the layers slowly, value by value, until you end up with darker and darker shadows and details while using the same washes. I can't wait to see how you do with this one! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Paper: arches 140 lb cotton 9X12" paper that I've cut into 3X3" pieces, giving me 12 pieces per page.

Paint: For this project I am using a split primary palette- cad yellow deep, lemon yellow, cad red, perm. rose, ultramarine blue, cerulean, indigo and sap green. The colors I'm using today are - cad yellow, cerulean, perm. rose, ultramarine blue, and indigo.

Brushes: round 4 & 10 - Princeton brand.

I’m so glad you’ve gotten away from snowy trees and landscapes. I love the fruits and glazing!

Maura

So on that very last layer with the deep butter indigo were you negatively painting around blueberries still?

Joalie

How do I paint large areas such as the background for the blueberries without getting streaks or blotche? Kristin, your blue is very even and smooth.
