Hi everyone! I can't believe April is almost over and after tomorrow, we will have completed 33 paintings this year. Dry brush month has been so fun and I love how many ways there are to use it and how many different subjects it can be used on. Below is the schedule and topic theme for the month of May. As a reminder, this year the 100 tiny paintings will revolve around a new technique each month, keeping the same Tuesday/Friday schedule so that we end up with 8-9 paintings per month and 100 by the end of the year.

The theme for May: Lifting

Friday May 1st: live class 10 AM Arizona time

The link to this class will be posted here on patreon Friday morning, the day of the live class, and will be recorded and saved for anyone who can't make it.

This live class will deep dive and cover the basics of this month's technique: Lifting. The how, when and why. We'll talk about different lifting methods, how to avoid problems, and how to fix common lifting mistakes. We'll also cover exercises you can practice in your sketchbook and "homework" to help you improve this technique in stress free ways before you start on a painting.

Tuesday/Friday tiny paintings: Each Tuesday and Friday this month a tiny painting will be posted. The tiny painting videos include full video instructions, color mixing and reference photos and sketch outlines when applicable.

End of month live class: Thursday May 28th @ 1PM Arizona time

At the end of the month we will paint a picture together from a reference photo. This class is also recorded and saved so you can watch back at any time. We will be voting on and choosing together a picture that uses a lot of the dry brush techniques we have gone over this past month. This will help us solidify what we've learned into something bigger as we walk through how to paint a piece from start to finish, live.

I can't wait to paint with you this month!

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Kristin

Hi Kristin, I just joined your group and am so excited to begin. For an 80 year old to begin anything new is a bit of an adventure! I know you have probably been asked this many times, but do you think I should start out by beginning with January 2025, start with May 2026, or somewhere else. Thank you so much!

Please let me know how and where I can find the reference photos. Help needed!

Melodee Skiles

Hi Sabine, the reference photos are linked underneath the text description on each video. Scroll all the way down and you’ll see text like “starfish reference photo.jpg”. Click on that. She also always includes a pic of her final painting which is really helpful.

Sorry, I ment the photos for voting. But thanks for anwering🙏🏼

So, this Friday we will have both a mini painting video released and a live class for the new month lifting topic ? Excited though knowing I will have to just be content to save the mini for the weekend 🥰as I want to focus on the live class!

Maura

Kristin opens a special chat up a couple of days before that day of the live class so you just have to be watching for that. Then we all can choose to share a photo that can be voted on if we have one that might work or simply vote on the ones that are shared by others.

Thanks🙏🏼

Hello Meg, I had in my mind the same question 3 months ago when i subscribed and at the end i decided to begin with the first painting of 2026 and now I’m at nr. 25… still 15 late.. and I don't know if it would have been easier to start in 2025 because to reach a decent result i noticed that i have to try the little painting at least 2/3 times.. so it’s harder then I thought, but I love this challenge.. have a good day ciaooo Sara from Italy
