Cherry blossoms for #51! I took heavy inspiration for this one from a photo submitted in the group chat by Bear that didn't end up winning the vote, but I thought would be perfect for negative painting. Don't worry too much about how the loose wet into wet parts look at the beginning, because as we work through the layers of negative painting all the details will sharpen up. Wet into wet negative painting can feel tricky, but it is one of my favorite ways to paint negative and still get the soft look I love from watercolor. I can't wait to see how you do with this one! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Paper: arches 140 lb cotton 9X12" paper that I've cut into 3X3" pieces, giving me 12 pieces per page.

Paint: For this project I am using a split primary palette- cad yellow deep, lemon yellow, cad red, perm. rose, ultramarine blue, cerulean, indigo and sap green. The colors I'm using today are - cad yellow, cad red, perm. rose and ultramarine blue.

Brushes: round 4 & 10 - Princeton

Oh boy!! I’d LOVE and appreciate some help on this one. My old nemesis, negative painting has come to haunt my dreams. If you could look at my piece and let me know how I could have possible separated some of the flowers I’d appreciate your advice. The background paint is totally an error on my part as I ran out after painting the right side. I tried lifting but that did t help at all. Thank you so much. This is a HUGE learning opportunity.
