I grew up in a part of England that is all farmland now but was once marshland and was drained over the course of a couple of hundred years to farm the peat soil, often with violent pushback from the locals, so I'm really enjoying Boggy's characterisation and the research Caldwell has done!

Can’t get enough of Jake’s descriptions. From the get go they’ve been awesome but particularly since they reached the perimeter of the castle - you can see it so clearly in your mind’s eye, even feel and taste the changes in the air. So great. Skaldova is brilliant. 👏👏👏

theory: i bet the bog is circled cuz the dragon took the princess there to hide out from the encroaching godswar, cuz it kinda seems like based off the map that the gods were coming for princess lunark (kinda feels bright sword-ish for the gods to be invaders that killed off the original inhabitants)

Damn that makes sense!! My theory is that sir Leif Thornstein is the dragon, and the idea that the dragon killed one of the 8 knights of the order is a classic historical misunderstanding / re-telling / "syncretism" of sorts (or, alternativelly, that it was an intentional cover-up, either by the order & the princess themselves, or by the winning side of the god wars)
