When me and my friends played Stradh (my first time playing dnd) we devolved into a similar misinterpretation as the triplets except we swapped everything to MacDonalds lore thus the curse of the Hamburglar. The Addams family does market itself as "edgy" and it gets edgier as time goes on, but as a fan of the original show, one of the things that makes it so charming is the relationship between morticia and gomez. They love each other, and even when there is conflict, they're always there for each other. The family is also always trying to be neighborly and contribute to the community. It is one of the most wholesome shows, and it can be found on listicles like "the healthiest or most romantic relationship on tv." I love the Christina Ricci movies too I swear I was born after 1990

One of my neighbors is utilizing Emily’s year-round Christmas tree idea with one of those giant Home Depot skeletons. Since Halloween the skeleton has been decorated with a Santa hat for Christmas, Leprechaun hat for St. Patrick’s Day, Easter Bunny ears and basket, and recently an American Flag and patriotic top hat for the 4th of July. And then goes into greater implications and connects it to a larger thesis about consciousness. It is FASCINATING I highly recommend it!

I know Caldwell shouted out the people who help with that either here or in short rest but my memory’s like a sieve 🤦‍♀️ Onyx is absolutely killing me with her social-media-cleanse influencer stuff too, so brilliantly, accurately toxic! Jens’ speech is absolutely hilarious. Murph’s determination to fit this all into the resort narrative is so funny. I know this has come up before in a short rest or something but the horror rockabilly genre is know as psychobilly. Nekromantix would probably a good entry point but there are a ton of great bands out there in the psychobilly genre. Closest thing to ska/rockabilly I can think of is my personal all time favorite group: Kings of Nothing. Please give them a listen especially their first or second album.

They created a dynamic that was not in the comics (also wonderful) where Gomez and Morticia are passionately in love and support their children and everyone in their life. A comedic contrast to every other show on television at the time where the undercurrent joke was, we sort of despise each other or at least deeply do not respect each other. Addams Family is all about Consent, Compassion and Conjugal Visits, babyyyy.

Emily! If you’re into telepathy you should TOTALLY check out the podcast “the telepathy tapes” it is absolutely incredible and world-breaking. They do a bunch of test with non-speaking autistic children whose parents swear they can read their minds. Pretty much all the tests have a 99% success rate. You’d love it!

To get out of long winded convos at parties, what works for me all the time is I make eye contact and smile at someone not in the convo who will then interrupt with short pleasantries. To preface, I was raised Irish Catholic and these are my own thoughts, I do not intend to diminish anyone's beliefs. I think there's multiple levels of sympathetic communication people rely on to interact and it's these levels of subliminal communication which have been used to affirm spiritualism and occultism. My family for generations has strongly believed they've had "the sight" or "the third eye" when I believe they've just been more perceptive or able to register more subliminal interpersonal clues than the rest of family. The brain's magical and not to be underestimated

I've never played The Mind, but it reminds me of a theater game where you try to count up from one, but if two or more people start to speak at the same time, you have to start over. It feels similar in the sense of reading the room and knowing that sometimes, you're helping by not trying to grab the spotlight, as it were.

I say "say more" in conversation and it's not weird! It's a way to say "I care about the thing you're talking about and want you to continue" when you can't immediately think of a thoughtful good question to ask. It's especially useful if someone says something vulnerable and you notice them immediately backing off or looking embarrassed, and you know a "mm yeah, totally" will make them feel even weirder.

Bizarrely, I’ve played both the games they mentioned despite not playing many board games Castleravenloft is great. It can be difficult, but it’s a phenomenal dungeon crawler and a great fix that’s essentially lazy d&d. More fun with more players, but it’s versatile enough you can play it with even 1 or 2 people The Mind is neat, but I fundamentally don’t enjoy a social activity like a board game that requires zero talking. I like to visit with my friends when I get to see them, y’know? Still fun enough to try
