Coming into all hyped, then 5min in tragedy strikes

Jon

This Jake has a decent radio voice, why is he so opposed to trying out podcasting someday?

Sarah Trimble-Tutor

This one was one of my favorites as a kid! I love you guys. Can’t wait for Tuesday night.

Nathan Wilson

This was also one of my favorites as a kid. I was impressed by the huge variety of endings. My favorite was the "You become a unicorn yourself" ending.

Lindsay

Holy shit can’t wait to listen to this, also one of my favs

Allen W.

The last ten minutes of this had me sore from laughter. Truly the most trippy ending!

Ilana Galpert

So cool to meet special guest jorb bratwurst, what's he from? You guys missed the "the small camp outside of the village were outcasts live in gloomy isolation" run. I'm sure that one has a much more uplifting ending

Jennifer

Loved this one. Ya’ll should do the other adventure books by this author!!

Extra Crispy

The best one you have ever done absolutely do more! “Cry for the unicorn and cry for yourselves” is unironically one of the hardest things I have ever heard

Emily Kelly

drunk out of my mind listening to this love you guys can’t want for this yayy can’t want to see the huincorn and the love aterfl of tears ;m(?)

Liza

I loved seeing the illustrations they’re so beautiful c:

A.E. Ross

I don't know what it was about this one but I really pictured you all in sleeping bags in some generic 90s living room getting too into this book during a sleepover between fistfuls of cheese puffs and popcorn.

Liza

Okay so i finished the podcast and uh never mind im scared of this child and i am irreparably changed

Callum Taylor

Is this the only podcast where one host has to scream “shut up!” at the other three hosts? And that’s good and funny and you love to hear it?

thiswayjose

May I recommend Threedom? There’s a particular episode called “Do You Know Gyms” and it mimics this exact dynamic. It’s a great, dumb, show

Zachary Smith

"Cry for the unicorn and cry for yourselves!"

Zaxbeez

I love how the specter of Metal City haunts every single passive option in an adventure book.

Katie Wilde

I just wanna share that my brain pronounces huincorn "ween corn"

Jack

Pour one out for the unicorn <3

ReynSedai

Omg those pictures are wyld

Josiah Muskrat

This was fucking insane and I want more of it.

Emmie

If you listen to this on Spotify there’s an auto-generated link in the credits for Jork Hurwitz, if anyone was interested in his other works

Ken

This is so awesome. And you gotta see if there is a "save the unicorn without making birds cry" ending.

Hijodeagua

The unicorn death was JARRING

Verdigree

THE TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR OF TEARS IS SO MUCH MORE THAN I IMAGINED. The protagonist does appear to be wasting away, and is illustrative of the desperate and horrifying circumstances that so strongly defy Caldwell's frivolous whimsy.

Hi, I'm actually Flemish! We indeed have amazing cheese, but there are some issues with the story: a belfry is not connected to a church, by definition We don't have hummingbirds in Europe Back in the day, we did have unicorns, so that checks out Also, fuck birds

Mellzs

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this episode and still belly laugh at the shock and horror of this awesome madness

SoupLightning

This is the greatest Choose Your Own Adventure of all time. What a ln absolute metal ending!

Tim

I love the immediate sadness in this episode.

Zeon Liberation

The OG Choose Your Own Adventure books are brutal. A large percentage of choices end in death or bodily harm. One book I had as a kid ended in the main character getting kidnapped and tossed in the back of a van never to be seen again. I decided after that to not read those books anymore.

Victoria Shotts

It's not a wink wink, it's a squint squint! Had me ROLLING

The Kiekster

This was incredible, would love to see you guys go through more books by this author

ScottyByNature

i didn’t enjoy this story at all. where even was jessica?!

nandrusin

"I can enjoy something without making a joke..." Caldwell sweats nervously

kiana

The other stories were so bad they were good whereas this one was just awesome as it was- lowkey wanna read the book myself now

AlkaneJelky

This is so far the trippiest CYOA book I've experienced on this podcast. How can it be so crazy even without the cast making jokes inventing drama.

Matt Kilsby

Absolutely unhinged book, truly disturbed. 10/10.

heavy harry

Not sure this guest has a grasp on what 8-bit bookclub is all about. He doesn't seem to fit with the culture.

Nathan Wilson

Yeah! It's a great one! So many great endings in this book, and in one of them you become part of a magic ritual, and then get turned into a unicorn yourself, so you can purify the well. Emily would absolutely love it.

Myc Giaco

I love how these are great episodes for Murph to not do a bunch of prep and editing, but instead all the time and energy he saves on is spent on trying to keep the crew from getting “lost in the lore” hahah

Saffron Evans

I bought into patreon for this ep. Strangled and starved for NADDPOD adventure books content to the very peak. Also today I learned that Butterfinger BBs were a real thing

Lopiena

I read this book so many times as a kid and still almost always got the tragic endings. So good though!!

CommodoreBlue

I’d love to see The Lore Lords watch Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Netflix’s first “choose your own adventure” episode.

James (plz make more trinyvale eps)

I’m concerned that there is a portion of the population that doesn’t know what Butterfinger BB’s are. They’re kind like Buncha Crunch but are butterfinger balls instead of crunch balls (please tell me you know what Buncha Crunch is).

James (plz make more trinyvale eps)

Lmfao. I didn’t think about how stressed Caldwell must’ve been trying not to blurt out the puns that his beautiful brain is always thinking about.

Zeon Liberation

It might have been You Are a Millionaire.

Rebecca

I read this book as a kid! Yeah it’s CRAZY

Mac

i don't know what either of those are. blame the marketing team lol

Jay

I found a free pfd of this book and it's WILD, there is one ending where you straight up die

Kaidan C

It’s wild that the only time they ignore page 69 is the time they would’ve beat an adventure book without dying Classic book buds stuff right there

Summer Tribe

Is that wild? That seems normal
