Lalo! When you climb the dinosaur (or put a hat on it!), Ellie jumps off into the pool it's in.

God I'm dumb. We don't get real fireflies here, I paused that scene for ages trying to figure out what she was looking at!

I dont like how joel said Yes, when ellie asked if the doctor would have made a cure. Thats the whole problem. The doctor MIGHT have been able to make a cure. Was the doctor a specialist in fungi virology or parasitic infections? Was the 20 year old tech gonna work properly? Would he have ran out of brain tissue and cordycepts b4 finding a vaccine or cure? We dont know. Its a long shot at best and probably wouldnt have worked. If Ellie gave the OK knowing it would cost her her life thats one thing, but to assume its a sure thing is rediculous. The doctor would be trying to create a cure for something that never existed in the past leaving him with no startimg point or previous education.

Cordyceps in animals existed and Jerry has spent the years after the outbreak trying to develop a cure. Ellie was the missing piece. The whole premise relies on Jerry being able to develop a vaccine/cure - there's a section where Mel say's in s2ep1, "Joel killed the only doctor that would be able to make a cure" or similar. This info was not known at the end of s1 to the viewer, or part 1 to the player, which led to the moral ambiguity of Joel's actions, and the 'what would Ellie have wanted' thought experiments. Ellie's wishes are key, but as far as the Fireflies, Marlene, Joel and Jerry were concerned the vaccine / cure would've happened.

Humans arent the same as other animals or insects. Thats why after animal testing a drug we switch to human testing. Something thats never been done in this case which could mean any and all data gathered b4 could be useless when it comes to human testing.

Agree in real life, but it's literally in the lore of the game/show which means Joel can give a definitive answer, because he knew it to be true.

Am i remembering wrong? Didn't Gail say to Joel in their therapy session, that Joel shot Eugene right in front of her?

Such a fantastic episode. Pedro and Bella are incredible.

Am I trippin' or was Joels dad wearing his watch in the flashback? I can't remember if they ever said where it came from, just that his daughter got it fixed.

I know that this is a few months late but I just wanted to add to the conversation by saying that I truly really appreciate your discussion throughout and at the end of this episode. I've watched quite a few reactions to this episode over the past 6 months and nobody else has shown the empathy that you both have. It is so refreshing seeing you both discuss every side of the story - especially Ellie's. I feel as though people are so quick to say she's being such a selfish brat, not only in this episode but the entire season, yet they are very keen to sympathise with Joel. Thank you for also realising what Ellie has had to go through and the agency that was taken from her life. Even though we may not agree with every action she makes in the show, it's important to understand why she is making those decisions. Anyway... rant over and thank you again for making such enjoyable reactions!
