Danzo is playing ace of spades and he thinks hes the King should have been Kakashi but danzo is technically the shadow kage to hiruzen even though nobody knows him forreal nobody really knows the elders with tsunade to well either even though they been in the village probably since its inception lol

All the people that Sai and other foundation members assassinated (remember Sai’s book) were ordered by Danzo and done to protect the leaf. Sai was sent to assassinate Sasuke because he’s a Rogue ninja and would cause problems later, like attacking other villages (Cloud) or coming back to attack the Leaf (3rd let Orochimaru walk and he caused all kinds of problems. Danzo and the foundation protect the leaf from the shadows constantly. The higher ups know this but the regular villagers don’t. And let’s not forget that the Hyuga put curse marks on children that would kill them if they stepped outta line.

We gave the Hyuga grief for the curse mark too. And Hinata's corny dad ain't never outside to protect the leaf neither. The difference is, he ain't scheming up ways to usurp the throne behind the current Kages back like Danzo constantly does. We talk about how the 3rd constantly made terrible decisions as well, especially with Orochimaru. But now you got Danzo hunting Kabuto to cover up the fact he's been in cahoots with WHO? I love a good antagonist. Pain caused way more hell than Danzo did yet we looked at his character in an objective way. If the opps pulled up to destroy the rain, would Pain hide in the mountains until it was all over and happily reign over the remaining remnant of survivors? Danzo don't love the leaf more than he desires to put that kage drip on. He's the Light Yagami of the Naruto verse

He’s not been trying to undermine the village constantly. And they haven’t stated what exactly his connection to Orochimaru, but we know they weren’t on the same side because Danzo wanted to have Orochimaru’s favorite boy, Sasuke assassinated. And if Danzo had sent his foundation out against Pain, they would have gotten destroyed just like everyone else. No one was strong enough to beat Pain. Walking outside and getting murdered instead of surviving and picking up the pieces of what’s left of the village is not smart. Danzo and the foundation would be more dead people after Pain caught Naruto. Does he think he would be a better Hokage? Yeah. I don’t think he would, but this idea that it is just cause he wants the clout is ridiculous.

Danzo got you on the payroll..."Even if you should assume power, it would be meaningless if the citizens of the Hidden Leaf are dead" "Certainly there will be lives lost, but to me that will be a necessary sacrifice in order for me to become the Hokage" He cares more about the land of the leaf and not the citizens in it. Right after this, nearly the whole village got killed by the Almighty push and had to be revived by Nagato. "No one was strong enough to beat Pain" Kono immobilized a pain. Turns out, Danzo has a whole Sharingan on em and still won't come outside. What sense does it make to have the president outside as the last line of defense while the secret service is underground praying on their downfall? He did zero protecting that day.

Danzo is a rat. Don't care about what weird tactics/strategies he is cooking up to supposedly "save the leaf". A rat is a rat. Also on principle that man should be hung by the neck for skewering that poor frog messenger 😭😭😭

Danzo cares more about the Leaf as a whole than the individual citizens. He’s not gonna fight Pain knowing that he’s going to lose, (like everyone else did) and further endanger the Leaf village as a whole. That’s why he tried to keep Naruto locked down. Because giving Pain the Nine Tails was more dangerous than letting Naruto fight, knowing he would lose. We see other people do this same thing. Tsunade wasn’t out there throwing hands with each individual Pain. Katsuya could have led her to each one. But that would be stupid. Protecting the village as a whole was more important than saving individuals or having a 1v1 with Pain. That’s why she stayed up on top of the building, surrounded by protection. Because it was smart. And yes, Danzo did do some protecting that day. He stopped Naruto from showing up and getting captured by Pain, which was the smartest thing to do. But then Naruto showed up anyway, got captured, and had to be saved by the 4th. That first impression, when Yamato assumed Danzo was collaborating with Orochimaru to destroy the leaf gets stuck I’m people’s memory and they look at everything as if he’s the villain. He’s not. He’s a shady dude doing shady stuff that sacrifices individuals for the sake of the village.

Yea that is facts he stopped naruto from coming back early which was a good thing. Then naruto got captured and almost went full 9 tails and died 😭 he got saved by plot minato ghost. Danzo is just playing 4d chess. Every decision he makes is for some far off future plan. Survival and power to the leaf (and himself) no matter the cost lol

Y'all give him too much credit because what was actually his plan? You can't tell me that Pain destroying the village with a big ass almighty push was how Danzo expected things to go down. Now as a result of his actions, the damage to the Leaf is far more extensive than it would have been if Naruto had returned just minutes sooner. You can say that circumstantially he wasn't finished training in Sage Mode yet, but Danzo wanted to keep the one person who could save them from Pain out of the village so that the Leaf and the Land of Fire can keep the Nine Tails as a way to maintain their national power. Naruto showing up wasn't part of his plan so y'all have got to stop giving him credit for that. Danzo was gonna sit back and let everybody in the village, including some of their biggest hitters like Kakashi and Tsunade, die. We know that because it's exactly what he did. Tsunade wouldn't be in a coma had she not needed to heal everyone from the almighty push but you know Danzo would have preferred her to have been killed, all because they clash politically. That's not even close to addressing how much value Tsunade brings to the village as a medical specialist and how she changed the game in that regard after she became Hokage, so they lose a degree of infrastructure too. It doesn't matter what Danzo's position or role supposedly is because if he truly cared about the PEOPLE of the Leaf and not just the village's political and military strength, he'd have never killed that toad. Even still, in terms of military strength it was a shortsighted move. What if Nagato didn't bring all those dead people back? Was that part of Danzo's plan too? You cannot tell me that his actions are justified or even understandable when they WOULD have cost the Leaf most of their manpower if not for Naruto. Danzo is lucky that his plan didn't work out because if it had the Leaf would be even worse off for it and his only real justification is that he believes only he should dictate the shinobi world. Also Danzo is a dummy for not realizing that him killing that summons toad would only delay Naruto's arrival. For someone who is so well versed and experienced it's pretty weird for him not to think through how a summoning roster works. It makes that choice read as one that was made out of pure arrogance based entirely on assumptions with no forward thinking behind it besides fear

Aurange Danzo thought Naruto would be captured by Pain and the Akatsuki if he came back to the village. Naruto was captured by Pain and the Akatsuki when he came back to the village. And this is after Naruto had finished his training. The only reason Naruto was able to beat Pain was because he got an extra life from Minato. So that was not a part of anyone's plan. Pain's destruction of the Leaf village is nothing compared to what the Akatsuki could do if they captured the Nine Tails, or if Naruto had completely released the seal and let the Nine tails out completely. So based on all the information that was available at the time, there is no way that you can say that bringing back Naruto to the village was a better idea than leaving him at Mt Myoboku. The only way you can justify it is by saying "Naruto is the main character so of course he will win somehow," which is a useless argument.
