Turnip Crazy

We're finally on the season I actually watched. I remember really liking a handful of people this season.

Jeanette Dawe

I used to be obsessed with Dani . I remember when They were on America's got Talent.

Liv Heskett

I really think Ali and Blake shine the most on screen. I kept looking at them. I remember being really excited by Nelly cause of her voice. And I’d cut Tyler and Taryn like you said. Aylin’s name is pronounced like Eileen. She’s also a Turkish Muslim so I do think she brings a subject and diversity they’ve never talked about on glee. Also I agree about the hw challenge. I thought Abraham was the clear winner of popping out and showing individuality. Im actually so excited for this season.

Ali Stroker was indeed in Oklahoma on Broadway, as well as Deaf West’s Spring Awakening, and was the first wheel chair bound person (I believe) to do so AND won a Tony award! She was also in Season 4 of Glee in the Episode I Do, where everyone sleeps with everyone during Will and Emma’s failed wedding. I like this season a lot more than the first, it flows better. I had heard on either And That’s What You Really Missed or Gleek of the Week Pod from Robert Ulrich that they planned another season but then Cory Monteith passed so it was scrapped.

Samir

Okay I already like this cast way more than last season. I love Ali and have seen some of her interviews and podcasts she’s such a sweet person!

My homework assignment winner: Shanna or Abraham My #1 overall: Shanna or Abraham My top 3: Shanna, Abraham and Nellie My bottom 3: Taryn, Tyler and Maxfield Who I would have cut: Taryn or Tyler Who I would have cut from their bottom 3: Tyler I remember really liking most of them but especially Nellie (I was OBSESSED with her), Michael, Blake, Dani, Shanna, Ali, Aylin (pronounced like Eileen), Abraham and Mario. Watching this episode again I still love all of them except for Blake, but not because he's not talented. He does have that "jocky boy next door" charm to him and while he's not the best singer or dancer, he's one of the best actors. It's a pity he's such a crappy human. I know it sounds mean but something about Tyler's voice irritates me. I don't think this was the right time for him to do this since he was so early on in his transition and even more lost than the rest of them. I don't remember if Dani came out during the show but now they identify as non-binary. And I like Taryn but you can tell this is not for her. Funny what you said about Lily cuz she actually admitted to being a bully in middle school but decided to change after she watched Mean Girls and later apologized to a girl she bullied. She still seems quite bitchy on the show though. I feel like she is what they were trying to make Lindsay out to be in S1. There is actually an unofficial episode before this one (like in S1), showing how they made the cut to the final 14 and a music video to Edge of Glory: https://youtu.be/vTK1dH_ENDE?si=oUArk7lh8vHYE0n2 Aylin and Ali also auditioned for the first season. Ali was originally called back but turned it down to star in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at The Paper Mill Playhouse. Ali appeared on Glee in S4E14, the girl Artie hooked up with at Will and Emma's non wedding (I think she was Emma's niece). She has also appeared on shows like Only Murders in the Building, And Just Like That and Blue Bloods. Ali is a pioneer in a lot of ways. In 2009 she became the first actor who uses a wheelchair to earn a degree from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts (with a degree in Fine Arts). She is believed to be the first actor with a disability to be cast in a leading role on Broadway, when she was cast in Deaf West Theatre's revival of Spring Awakening in 2015. Finally, in 2019 she became the first person with a disability to be nominated for and win a Tony Award, for her role as Ado Annie in Oklahoma! Iqbal Theba makes a brief cameo appearance as Principal Figgins in the music video (walking past Lily). Haven't heard anything from Maxfield since this but I know he would later guest star on Nashville, a TV show centered around country music (which is his forté).

Benjamin Smith

First time I watched this my favorites right out of the gate and for the entire season were Nellie, Michael, Aylin, Shanna, and Charlie. Blake is a whole other story. I hated his character on Glee and after showing what kind of person he is, I really can’t stand to see him on screen at all.

jade

my top three this week: shanna, ali and charlie my bottom three overall: tyler, taryn and maxfield who i'd cut overall: taryn who i'd cut out of their bottom: maxfield

Landon Ballesteros

So there’s actually a prequel episode to this season showing the auditions and callbacks, and the final 14 contenders perform Edge of Glory, and I remember being most excited to meet Abraham. There’s just something SO spunky about his voice, his look, and his personality at that time. He was actually on KPOP the musical on Broadway a couple years ago. In this episode, I remember not being too fond of Aylin at first, but once she sang Without You, I was IN LOVE and she became my favorite contender moving forward. Even when I write Glee fan fictions I’ve always included her because I haven’t been able to forget her talent. Tbh I liked Aylin’s rendition more than Lea’s version on the show, and I do love Lea’s version! My favorite for this week probably is Shanna, and my elimination would’ve been Tyler. I’m not a big country fan but I LOVE Maxwell’s voice and wish we could’ve heard even just one more week of it.

SongsFromASuitcase

Yeah, it seems like just their voice alone isn’t enough. Maxwell is a perfect example of this because I would’ve loved to have another country voice as well. He just didn’t that was needed to go with it.

Sabrina Louis

I can't explain how much I loved and still love Nellie's voice. LOL So far my favourites (voices) are Nellie, Aylin, Ali and Mario. Unfortunately, I would've cut Taryn. She clearly wasn't ready for this.

Sabrina Louis

I'm really happy you're reacting to season 2! As you can see the voices are way better than the first season, there's more diversity, and they will be evaluated on their acting skills.

fry

i like michael too i feel like i have seen him in some shows before but idk. i like the fact that they have older more experienced people this season but at the same time i would not buy half of these people as freshmans in high school 😭

Zach Davis

Started this while hungover and felt way better after watching. I love that overall you liked this group a lot better than season 1! I did love Michael, Blake, and I can’t remember his name but the one who had adhd/on the spectrum. I remember the acting and drama of the fight scene in the teaser, it was great! Can’t wait to continue this journey with you! Oh and imo it’s too early to pick absolute faves or eliminations, I’ll wait until they clear the field in a few eps and start making choices then

Zach Davis

I remember edge of glory! Do we see it later on?

beth

I really wish they had had a character like Tyler in Glee for FTM representation. It would have been interesting to explore how those changes affect singing. Whoever had that part would need to be engaging and Tyler didn't stand out. That said, in terms of this show, I wouldn't want to eliminate him the first round. I would've chosen Taryn or Max. Max was just "generic straight country guy" and they already had Sam Evans at this point in Glee (and Chord is much more charismatic).

beth

It still bugs me that they developed Bieste to be this unconventional straight cis woman for several seasons and then out of left field decided they wanted to make her trans—which completely nullified the entire character development to that point. It would've been more interesting in context of the show to have that journey be portrayed by a student.

Lydia Shepard

I am so glad you are watching this season of The Glee Project. The talent as you can see is for the most part better than season 1. I really enjoyed so many of the contestants this season. My favorites were Shanna, Aliyn, Charlie, Nellie, Aly, and Michael. I too would have eliminated Taryn and Tyler as I was never impressed with either of thier voices and didn't think they really stood out. I do think as the season progresses and they start eliminating more people you will change your mind on some of the contestants. I am looking forward to you watching the remainder of the season!!!!!

Erin Perry

I actually agreed with their bottom 3 and who they cut. That doesn't usually happen. I do think Taryn would be #4 for me. My favorites so far are Abraham, Blake, Nellie, and Charlie. I didn't love Blake on Glee, but he definitely pops here. I watched this when it originally aired, but definitely don't remember as much about this season as I did about season 1. Like you said, we know who the winner is, but I'm so excited to watch it all play out!

Jay Johnston

As much as I would have loved to see someone like Tyler on Glee I have to agree with you that right now was not a great time for him to be on Glee. Heads up that Shanna now goes by Harper Grae now and actually releases her own music. She also created a nonprofit called "Look Up Foundation" that aims to help children and adolescents with grief through literature

Selma Jabr

This is so much better than season 1! Everything from the contestants to the lighting to the stages to the editing is an improvement. I feel like they also showed more of the couching lesson with the guest star so that was helpful. (Tho Lea mentioning that the entire cast was allowed to express all sides of their personalities has not aged well for multiple reasons. 😬) And you can clearly tell they the creators took a lot of notes and feedback from last season. They give the kids more creative freedom and are tougher on them. Plus seeing Ryan more will make who he sends home more fair. My HW assignment winner would he Abraham. He really popped out of the crowd. My favorites right now are Mario, and the chick with the short hair, and Abraham as well. If I didn’t know what I know about Blake, he would be up there too. But he is still very talented. Nellie is stand out to me because I saw a performance from them a while ago and it was amazing! My bottom 3 would be about the same and I agree with Max being sent home. He is the youngest/most inexperienced and you can really tell. Though if Taryn was sent home, I won’t be upset. Tyler has work to do, but I’m not ready to say goodbye just yet. I want to see him work on himself a little more in this competition. I see what you mean about Lily. She has a great voice but I don’t love her vibes. I’m predicting that she is the one the editors are going to make the villain later down the road.

Jill

My #1 overall: Abraham with a bullet. Loved him! He just pops. My top 3: Abraham, Ali and Nellie My bottom 3: Maxfield, Taryn, and Tyler Who I would have cut: Taryn or Tyler Who I would have cut from their bottom 3: Tyler I am intrigued by Charlie and Aylin. I loved that Charlie just took charge and arranged the choreography. And I love the diversity Aylin could have brought to the show. As much as I like Mario I agree that he has a tough row to hoe. I really like him, but I don't know who he is other than being blind yet adventurous and confident. Blake being a turd aside, despite being the winner the writers were lazy with him as well - recycling him as the new Finn with Sam's dyslexia. I did enjoy the love triangle with Jake and Marley though. Too bad they didn't do a Glee Project for writers with fresh new ideas.

Megan Christina

When I watched this season when it aired, I was rooting for Nellie and Ali the most. They were always my top two. And admittedly, watching it now, I'm still obsessed with both. I loved Shanna too. Aylin really grew on me as the season went on but she was never an immediate fave? Fascinatingly, I disliked Blake, Tyler, and Mario the most the first time around, and this time around, I still feel the same way. Blake because, y'know, crappy human. The other two, they just have never given me the right vibes. As far as this episode and cuts, Taryn would have 100% been my pick to leave, but out of their bottom 3 I actually agree with their choice. Max was boring and there was nothing inspiring or anything that popped about the average white dude who likes country.

Audrey Lee Strohm

Number 1 overall: MARIO! He’s adorable, talented and just extraordinary. Top 3: Ali, Mario and Abraham My Bottom Three: Maxfield, Taryn, and Tyler. I would eliminate Maxfield.
