She never says “love of MY life” only that he said I’m the “love of your life” and it’s not until the end that she says “loss of my life”. Usually “loml” is used for “love of my life” so for her to use “loml” as “loss of my life” makes it that much more heartbreaking.

Ah, I wish you had ended with Alchemy. ❤️ I think it will make you ☺️ I’m surprised you didn’t get a heads up on the back story of this album. It’s mainly about her 6 year relationship ending with Joe. Then she hooked up with Marty Healy, who I think she was texting while it was ending with Joe (Guilty as Sin) They had a previous kinda courtship 10 years earlier, but never got together. Matty promised her everything that her broken heart wanted. He told her she was the love of his life. Then when they got together, he was a dumbass stoner that treated her like crap and then ghosted her after 2 months.

So if it help with understanding some of the songs, after Taylor dated Joe and Before she began dating Travis, Taylor dated a singer (who she also was linked to in 2014) named Matty Healy for about a month in May 2024. A lot of the songs on the album about being betrayed/where the guy was a liar (including the smallest man who ever lived) are presumed to be about him based on the details in the songs (jehovah witness suit, mention of drugs/drug addiction, rekindling flames etc.)

Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me is directed at her harsh critics, the media, and I think a big part of the music industry (the asylum that raised her, since she got famous super young). A lot of people said Taylor practices witchcraft - that's why she's so loved and popular (can't be that the woman is super talented and kind-hearted, right?) So in this song she just leans right into it. "You want me to be a witch? Okay, I'll be one. I'll float down your street, scream loud to taunt you. I'll sue you if you dare to cross me, because, isn't it what they all say I do?" Female rage 1000%

This is what Taylor said about writing "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me" Discussing 'Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?' Taylor explained that she wrote it "alone, sitting at the piano". She then explained: "I felt bitter about just all the things we do to our artists as a society and as a culture. There’s a lot about this particular concept on 'The Tortured Poets Department'". Taylor said: "What do we do to our writers, and our artists, and our creatives? We put them through hell. We watch what they create, then we judge it. We love to watch artists in pain, often to the point where I think sometimes as a society we provoke that pain and we just watch what happens.” And the line "you wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me" is referring to the music industry. Yes her 6 year relationship w/ Joe Alwin ended and was made public right before she performed her Florida tour stop which I belive calls to that song as well as the fuck me up florida line as a I just need to escape. I can only imagine going through that while having to perform the biggest tour ever done.

taylor explicitly says in the prologue for the album (on insta) that it was written in a specific tumultuous headspace that she is no longer in and that she's doing much much better now so she is no longer performing through her heartbreak. i understand that reflexive worry (i think we all do) but as far as what she herself has told us, she's good now. i wish i had read that prologue before listening but i didn't think about it; it would've cleared up so much confusion and concern lol

Right after the media told us that Taylor's 6 years relationship had ended, she dated a boy named Matty Healy. He's really controversial but their relation lasted for like for what we know like 2-3 months. Some of the songs are probably about him since she needed to process the end of this relationship more than the one with Joe (cause she already had time to see it ending which wasnt the case for the Matty one) So yeah the fanthom thinks that the smallest man who ever lived is about him and a lot of the songs on the album too. So yeah she's kinda been throught 2 breakups during the Eras tour which is why I can do it with a broken heart is so devastating. Anyways now she's in a happy relationship with Travis and we couldnt be happier to see her happy now. In her publication on instagram she also said that this album was really made for her to heal and that now it was all in the past and that the healing was done. So yeah that's it there was a lot to say ahah.

Taylor herself said she needed songwriting and to make the music that became TTPD for herself more than ever before. This album was Taylor processing her emotions from two break ups that clearly affected her deeply. I think this project was not about making radio hits, achieving critical acclaim, winning awards or achieving record breaking sales. This album was for herself and we are lucky that she decided to share the songs from this moment in time with the world. I believe even though these are some her most vulnerable and personal lyrics she did put them out into the world because she knows if they helped her process her feelings then they would probably also help her fans as well. With that said between the epilogue included in the album itself, and the Instagram post announcing the release of both versions Taylor has made it very clear that she is no longer in that headspace and is in a much better place. She is very happy with her current relationship. She was also very happy again when the Eras tour was filmed.

Guilty as Sin? is giving SMUT and I AM HEREEEE FOR IT. Also, yes... the "roll the stone away" lyric is a biblical metaphor. A lot of Christians are in a frenzy over this lyric -- among other lyrics on the album -- claiming that she is mocking Christianity. But all she's saying in this song is "If I never actually touched him, and I'm just fantasizing about him, why do I feel guilty about it? I shouldn't feel bad, but people are going to judge ("crucify") me anyway. People are literally out here saying that Taylor is satanic for using biblical metaphors on this album, but they clearly don't understand the metaphors (or poetry, in general lol)

The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived is widely speculated to be about Matty Healy (lead singer of The 1975). They briefly dated after she and Joe Alwyn split (during the Eras Tour), but they knew eachother for years prior to dating. I think she fell for him really hard and really fast. But Matty is kind of a bad boy and has had bouts with drug addiction. So I think the lifestyle he lives just wasn't conducive to forming healthy relationships, which is why they ultimately split up. Most people thought this album would be about her breakup with Joe, since they were together for six years. But the majority of it, I think, is actually about Matty. I think by the time she and Joe split, she just wasn't feeling very inspired by him at all. I think the end of her relationship with Matty was so devastating because he was fresh, and exciting, and gave her a lot of attention that Joe hadn't shown her in a long time. Wheras, her relationship with Joe had been dead a long time by the time she started writing this album.

I think Fresh Out The Slammer was her leaving Joe and then then going to Matty. She thought she was escaping a bad relationship to go to one where she'd be loved. He promised her so much, saying she was the love of his life. I think the end is different because she realized that it it was one jail to another, but she escaped that one too, and was just free. I think maybe with Travis, but I can't quite tell. But she escaped both of those jails.

Hello! I just wanted to comment that Clara Bow is actually the final song on the original album and The Black Dog is the first song on The Anthology. They really are two different albums so it is good to know where they start and stop so you can appreciate each opening and closing track.

Rest and take care of yourself, first! Love your reactions and was excited to see part 2 go up but we’ll be here when you’re ready for part 3! So far my favs are Down Bad, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me, and Daddy I Love Him. My husband loves Florida!!! I like a bunch of the others songs but there were definitely some that had to grow on me. There are a lot of lyrics that tie to other songs or double meanings that has been fun to discover on repeat listenings to the album. I have some favs that you haven’t listened to yet so I will share those later.

Loved the reaction, you should def check out Florence. Also, if you want another song about self-love, I would recommend reacting to Chappell Roan's Picture You (or her whole album). It is definitely about having some self care time and show cases her insane vocals when she yodels. She has done it live a few times too if you want to see a live version, her Coachella performance was amazing!

Hey Audrey, I hope that you’re healing well. Sorry if any of my spelling is often this I just thought I would say I love watching your reactions but do take time for yourself if you need it! And to answer some of the things that you said in the video Taylor is with Travis. She has been with him for a couple of months but before him she was with joe alwyn (works in the film area which is where the word cinephile in LOML comes from) for 6 years (and broke up public that is about a year ish ago) and then over the course of her life she’s also been on and off with Matty Healy from the band the 1975 (which one of the times they were on and off was between Joe and Travis) so a lot of these heartbreak songs have to do with Joe and Matty in my opinion and Taylor’s views on how she felt in both relationships However, there are at least two songs on the album that are related to Travis yes! xx hopefully that cleared some things up xx I could say more, but I don’t want to bore you or anyone! Keep looking after yourself, much love 🩷🩷

Sorry to leave a second comment. I also just wanted to say that it is speculated that the smallest man that ever lived is about Matty healy from the 1975. I think their relationship really hurt her when it ended because of how much she really did love him after being on and off with him for so long in her life and the fact she had just got broken up with Joe and would of confided in Matty and he let her down knowing her heart had already just got broken 😭

I think whos afraid of little old me is just a song to all the haters but theres a line they says something about telling jokes and everyone will laugh until she cries but when she says "joke" the "K" isnt audible so it sounds like "joe" so i think that part is about jo koy making the distasteful jokes about her at the one award show

I think you should read the epilogue that came with the vinyls/cds because that actually answers A LOT of your questions and explains her frame of mind and what is behind this album. It’s online even if you don’t have the vinyls. In her insta post she also explained this chapter of her life is over, she doesn’t feel this way anymore, she’s moved on now that she’s put these feelings to bed in writing these songs.

Of course, we can't really know what the songs are about, but Daddy I Love Him and Who's Afraid of Little Old Me sound like a slapback at fans who criticized her for dating Matty Healy, and started a movement to boycott her music. She refers to the "asylum where they raised me," which, as you noted, is a reference to the microscope she has lived under for much of her life. Love it!

loml is one of two that I cried to in the last year. I find it devastating. And coming from Virginia, the pronunciations on what you pointed out and how she's saying "love" (halfway to "trove" if that makes sense) sound Pennsylvania country to me (saying that without judgment) so I'm wondering if she's trying to show her vulnerability back to the time when she was young and has said she saw things in a more fairy tale way (e.g., Love Story's new ending for R&J). LOML = Love of My Life, which she changes in the end to Loss of My Life.

Taylor was in an almost 7 year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn and they broke up during the beginning of The Eras Tour. She had been working on this album before even meeting Travis Kelce which is why most of the songs are breakup songs and are not about him.
