I was so jealous when a girl in my class got to be in a commercial and I begged my mom to let me audition for things and she was like uhhhh go play outside. Seeing the way so many child actors tuned out, I'm really glad I'm just a paper pusher now 🤣🤣🤣

If I had been in Rachel situation, the only thing that I could think of to do would be to find some way to excel and prove myself in some other way, and in all honesty probably become a suck up because I could not think of anything else that I can do in that situation. I liked the idea that your brother had about getting the non-nicotine vape pen but unfortunately, in her situation vape pens were not around. But had they been around that would’ve been my solution as well.

That’s so cool when I was younger I actually did do a little bit of modeling and was actually in the newspapers for Toys “R” Us ads. I did not stick with it unfortunately and for me personally, I kind of wish I had cause I’d be interested to see where my life would have ended up. I know like you said seeing how so many child actors turned out I’d be interested to see where my life would’ve been had I stuck with it.

I think for me, I realized that I didn't necessarily have any desire to act, it was all about fitting in and doing what my cooler friends were doing. So I think I would've been the first one falling for child star peer pressure.

I would bring it up to my boss, in a nice and respectful way, of course but I can see how it might be hard for new staff to bring it up or worse, if you have a bad boss.

I modeled in a few fashion shows for a department store in the mall when I was 5-7 and got my headshots sent out to a bunch of agencies. When my mom let me have my portfolio I found a letter from a casting agent asking me to come audition for some movie or show. My mom never said any to me about it and now I’m glad that she didn’t considering how much of a not normal childhood child actors have, though, the money would be nice about now.

OMG Rachel's boss is fucking Joanna Gleeson. She is a Tony Award Winner and was the original Baker's Wife in "Into the Woods". I fucking love her!!!

AHH I do feel so lucky to be watching this as my 40th birthday comes to an end hehe! Honestly I do feel so lucky, as I love your reactions, it one of my favourite times of the week excluding vampire diaries and Gilmore girls 😍😻😘🤗 So I've been in a similar situation to Rachel, not as serious but when I started my second job at a nursery, most of the staff smoked and would go out together 10 minutes before end of thier lunches and decide what to do in the room for rest of afternoon. I stood my ground and said no I don't smoke, and don't want to start, but to please include me in the decisions as we are a team. But it kept happening, so I started to make some notes for a few weeks then I calmly explained what was happening to them all, and they felt terrible as they did not realise. Things were much better after that, but if they weren't, then I was prepared to present my findings to the manager and explain, but thankfully I did not need to.

Me too! She was fantastic in Into the Woods!

I used to be a social smoker when out for drinks person, but that was a couple of times a month for a few years, not every week day like it would be for Rachel! So I don't know what I would do in her position. Maybe try to find another way to connect with her boss? I honestly feel pretty lucky that i've never worked a job reliant on the social side of things now

Yay I'm finally caught up! (for now lol) School has been kicking my butt, but I'm glad that I am able to decompress with your reactions. They really are the highlight of my week because I get to turn off my brain for a bit and just unwind with a funny show. And the closer we get to Season 6 (my personal favorite season) the more excited I get. To answer your question of the week: I have never once considered smoking. I have asthma and I had relatives who smoked and they saw the way it would trigger my asthma and did what they could to not smoke around me and tried multiple times to kick the habit completely. I guess if I were in Rachel's situation as a new hire I would probably try to suggest some alternative form of bonding first (maybe over some snacks or some coffee) since I might be too nervous to vocalize my issues so early on. But after that if nothing changed I'd tell them how I felt, and if even after that nothing changed I'd try to make my peace with not being included. It would suck on a career level but I honestly wouldn't have the emotional bandwidth to stress over it and would PIVOOOOT (lol I haven't been able to hear that word the same way ever since watching that scene with Ross, Rachel, and Chandler) and hope that another opportunity would present itself. If the only way to get ahead is to bond with my boss over smoking, then I don't want to stay in that job forever anyway and would just use it to gain experience and then move on.
