What you said at the end about how they needed people with more experience is exactly what they fixed for season 2. The average age was more 20-22 the oldest being 24 which is still young but they had a couple years of adulthood at that point. Whereas season 1 was like freshman in college or still in high school. Also season two almost everyone has had some kind of professional experience before going in. So I think you’ll really like season 2. They just improved on everything that was kinda lacking in season 1

Also I just love Ian Brennen. He’s the genius behind 98% of Sues dialogue. Such a funny dude

Alicia

For some reason I loved Samuel the most when this came out. He's my least fave of the 4 upon the rewatch. I grew up a little bit I guess lol.

Jennifer Lawrence

I could see them struggling to pick as all of them are talented by this point. They also offer a bit of something different. I think they could see ways to integrate all of them into the show, in one way or another. As we've seen since all of them appeared on the show lol. That said, I agree with you. None of them is an obvious total package. It's like you could maybe mush them all together to get that lol.

this song SING is the song that the glee group sang when Sue was forced to join Glee club to get out of some kind of Rut she was in lol. The theme for the upcoming competition was " Anthem" they were going to do this before Rachel wanted to write origonal songs instead.

They sang Sing in glee, i think maybe season 2? It was the anthem episode where Sue also joined in them singing. Such a perfect song for Glee!

My homework assignment winner: Lindsay My #1 overall: Lindsay Who I would have cut: Samuel (but I think they made the right call keeping them all) Although I would have cut Samuel I personally really liked his final performance and didn't think it was rock at all. Btw, he said he had never heard of the song My Funny Valentine but it was sung by Tina (to Mike) in Glee S2E12 "Silly Love Songs": https://youtu.be/QsI6b9k-eb4?si=lqHF3J0WxJrvmJde To be fair the most memorable part of the performance was her breaking down and crying in the middle of the song. Also, Sing by My Chemical Romance was sung by New Directions and Sue in Glee S2E13 "Comeback": https://youtu.be/HtR8UIfUeqM?si=LeDPpcom0buvolok And Ian Brennan is the one who does the "Here's what you missed" recaps on Glee and TGP. I always laugh when they say the Glee kids are underdogs. Sure, some of them are, but at least half of them aren't (Finn, Puck, Quinn, Brittany, even Santana). Samuel is definitely an underdog because he's a rocker who's Christian.

Liv Heskett

I would actually say all of them but Finn are underdogs on paper. Puck is Jewish and comes from a very broken home, Brittany is bisexual, Santana is Afro Latina and gay, and Quinn was a teen mom. I think because they were introduced and portrayed as “cool” they weren’t maybe seen that way. But on paper they are def underdogs in society. As in people who were bullied for those things can look at them and feel represented. You didn’t really see teen characters like them on tv before glee. Finn however on paper is def the most “regular”. I think what Ryan means by underdog is that in a very white hetero Christian community, these characters don’t fit that mold. I also think you can be born with a silver spoon and BECOME an underdog as we see with Quinn getting pregnant and kicked out and then with her being in a wheelchair. And then someone like Finn who was NOT an underdog in the beginning but when his life kinda fell apart he became an underdog. Idk that’s how i interpreted it.

Landon Ballesteros

This season of the Glee Project was filmed while the 2nd half of season 2 was airing, so perhaps Samuel hadn’t seen that episode yet. They definitely saw the episode with the magic comb though. 😂

Landon Ballesteros

It’s so fun watching Lindsay sing Defying Gravity knowing that 9 years from filming this show, she’d be doing the role full time. 😊 I totally forgot that she won the homework assignment and that Kevin mentored her. He always has such positive things to say about her (and all the TGP people) on their podcast, it’s so sweet.

Heida

Fair enough. But Quinn was still head cheerleader dating the quarterback and had rich Christian parents. She, Puck, Finn, Brittany and Santana started out as the bullies. On the other hand, Finn was raised by a single mom. But to me, none of them are underdogs.

Benjamin Smith

In my opinion, Quinn is the definition of being an underdog. Yes she made terrible decisions but she literally had everything taken from her. She lost Finn, became pregnant, had her status stripped of Head cheerleader, was disowned by her father and kicked out of her house. They’ve even committed in the show how Quinn went from losing everything to getting into Yale.

My HW assignment winner is Lindsey. She sounded great and her acting is the best out of the 4. But I agree about not wanting to root for her. I don’t see much of a character for her besides a Rachel Berry dupe. I can tell that she wants to be more real but I’m not sure if she’s as ready as she wants to be just yet. My overall winner is probably Damian. He sounded great during the song. Apparently he can do rock, not just jazz or folk. Who knew? He’s definitely not the best actor but you still want to root for him as he is so positive and willing to listen and learn. Like Hannah. He always has a good attitude and I’m glad he got to shine on that last song. He really stepped up this week. If I would send someone home, it would be Samual as well. I totally agree that he’s very one note and I just don’t root for him, in fact I never did. On glee I think he did a better job and maybe part of him being forgettable was the writing, but Samual is just boring to me. Same with Damian with the writing, they kind of forgot about them after a while. (BTW, I’ve always wanted to see Chris/Kurt perform Funny Valentine. Think it would be great.) Despite knowing spoilers, I didn’t except this! I’m glad it happened though and it makes sense as they are all on the show which only finale contestants got to do. I can’t wait to see the whole cast next week! At least I think they are in the audience during the performances. I wonder if the contestants get to pick the song they perform or not? Overall, I think this was my favorite episode yet!

Zach Davis

Whichever episode this was mixed up with, the corrected episode still had the wrong episode’s closed captioning. I’d love, after glee prefect season 1, of Audrey watched the first episode that the winners appear in and judge that.

Jill

Yes! And they all wore flannel. LOL

i feel like alex really grew on glee to become more versatile but i agree with you that they needed more experienced people and i think they learn from that in s2. thinking about it now there was literally nothing behind samuel’s character joe in glee. at least damian’s character had moments where i felt like he fit in and was funny but samuel’s character was just completely boring and his acting was so bland.
