I am so excited for today's release:  Kitty Clickers!   As you might have learned by now, we are animal lovers, but more of dog people!  I however grew up with both dogs and cats and knew at some point we needed to do something for all the cat lovers out there!  We had been planning some cat themed releases, but when we got a request for cats, it just solidified that we HAD TO DO IT!  This is the first of our releases meant for cat lovers and I am sooo happy with how these turned out!  After printing one initial design, I wanted to play around so tried some spots, stripes, and eye variations!  Obviously, feel free to paint your kitties however you please, but I hope you like the variety that I've included in this pack! ๐Ÿฑ

Like most of my designs, this is a clicky design that requires a mechanical keyboard switch to make the clicky part. These models have been tested with Kailh Bronze, White, Jade and White V2 clickers and the White clickers are my preferred option. I have an up to date list of verified clickers with links you can find HERE. This design should be compatible with most MX style keyboard switches, however, the two metal contacts on the bottom of the switch must be clipped off flush (or folded over) to ensure the switch seats properly in the base (this is a destructive process). A 7mm keyring file is included as well as a larger, 3.5mm diameter keyring hole to allow a beaded chain to be used!

This pack contains 6 adorable kitty faces! An open eyes, closed eyes, open eyes with stripes, closed eyes with stripes, open eyes with spots and closed eyes with spots. A single base is provided with the standard keychain configurations.

(all caps are saved as .3mf only)

3D Printing Settings:

Layer Height: 0.2mm (recommended)

External Perimeter: 0.33mm

Scale: 100% (Everything is modeled with tight tolerances and should not need to be resized)

NOTE: I've found the best way to get the most crisp details on the faces is to start with the smallest details first and work up from there. Here is the order I recommend after LOTS of trial and error:

Black (Eyes/mouth/nose)

Red (ears/tongues)

Everything else (face colors)

I've also found hitting the print with a heat gun right before the main body color starts printing will eliminate any little strings that can cause blemishes on the final design.

โš ๏ธWARNINGโš ๏ธ - This pack requires very good bed adhesion to ensure the best possible results for your finished clicker. It is recommended to clean your bed with soap and water before printing or whatever your specific printer manufacturer recommends for a deep bed clean!

Stay Pawsitive! ๐Ÿพ

Thank you, these are awesome, but do you realize the amount of work you just added for me before Friday??????? -p

I'll have to learn how to love and hate you at the same time. Same with another certain Patreon I have!

Not that this isn't great, but your kids screams in excitement and steals anything cute Christa!

So, just printed one of the kitty clickers and they are cool but, if i might offer a suggestion, might want to make a little more of an overlap between the top of the base and the bottom of the keycap, there seems to be a fair bit of space for the keycaps to rotate slightly which leads to the tips of the ears catching on the base, so a small amount of overlap will help reduce that i think, i'm not an expert though :P

Pawpular Prints

Hi Shane! I have noticed sometimes there is a rotation but it has always been a clockwise rotation for me. I'm curious if the rotation you're seeing is also clockwise? I've noticed this rotation with some filaments and not others. I've been able to minimize the rotation by drying the filament and printing that center post on the cap slower with a modifier in the slicer. If you're still having problems after that, I'd be more than happy to make a print for you to test with more of an overlap between the top of the base and bottom of the keycap. Let me know how it goes!

Shane Matthews

Well its more that the key switch itself is allowing the cap to rotate slightly, there is always an amount of slack on them, the cap prints fine its just more that depending on the switch used it allows for the cap to rotate a little which causes the ears to catch

Pawpular Prints

Ahh gotcha, I'll DM you a file to try after I run a few errands and you can see if it prevents it from catching!

Damian

I have a question regarding the orientation of the print. For the caps do you print them face down or face up. I have tried printing it face up but seem to have some issues with the filament. I have also tried printing face down and seems to come out better but I currently do not have a smooth plate. I use a Bambu P1S. Thanks for any suggestions.

Pawpular Prints

Hi Damian! I have only printed these face down so far and they've worked great for me but I do have a smooth bed which probably works better than a textured bed. I've also seen people print our clickers on the holographic PEI sheets and they turn out amazing! Hopefully that helps, if not, I'm more than happy to help however I can.

Was there ever an update or fix for the ears of the cats and dogs scratching the sides of the base when clicked? I've had it happen with multiple different filaments, and only seems to affect the clickers with pointy ears.

ZAG 3D Creations

Hi - I noticed the top scrapes the side when clicking. Looking back this was one of your early models and you've perfected it now, is it possible to update this file?
