Happy weekend! Today, I have another animal to add to our growing zoo of clickers... A MONKEY! I had fun creating these little guys and am so happy with how they turned out. Along with the monkey, I thought it could be fun to add a little barrel for display, storage, etc. I love how the barrel turned out as well and it should hold 4-5 monkeys at 100% scale! I hope you enjoy my little barrels of fun!  πŸ΅

Like most of my designs, this is a clicky design that requires a mechanical keyboard switch to make the clicky part. These models have been tested with Kailh Bronze, White, Jade and White V2 clickers and the White clickers are my preferred option. I have an up to date list of verified clickers with links you can find HERE. This design should be compatible with most MX style keyboard switches, however, the two metal contacts on the bottom of the switch must be clipped off flush (or folded over) to ensure the switch seats properly in the base (this is a destructive process). A 7mm keyring file is included as well as a larger, 3.5mm diameter keyring hole to allow a beaded chain to be used!

This pack contains 5 unique monkey faces and 1 clicker bases for a total of 5 monkey designs AND a barrel to fit all your monkeys in! The monkeys have both eyes and mouth open, both eyes and mouth closed, eyes open mouth closed, eyes closed mouth open and a shocked face. The base is provided with the standard keychain configurations, none, 7mm and 3.5 diameter keyring. The barrel can be scaled up or down to fit as many monkeys as you want and it looks great in full MMU!

(all caps are saved as .3mf only)

3D Printing Settings:

Layer Height: 0.2mm (recommended)

External Perimeter: 0.33mm

Scale: 100% (Everything is modeled with tight tolerances and should not need to be resized)

Orientation: Print the caps face down so you have a smooth surface for clicking! (recommended)

NOTE: I've found the best way to get the most crisp details on the faces is to start with the smallest details first and work up from there. Here is the order I recommend after LOTS of trial and error:

White (Pupils)

Black (Eyes/mouth/nose)

Tan (Face/ears)

Everything else (head colors)

I've also found hitting the print with a heat gun right before the main body color starts printing will eliminate any little strings that can cause blemishes on the final design.

⚠️WARNING⚠️ - This pack requires very good bed adhesion to ensure the best possible results for your finished clicker. It is recommended to clean your bed with soap and water before printing or whatever your specific printer manufacturer recommends for a deep bed clean!

Stay Pawsitive! 🐾

I love all the animal designs! As somebody who goes big for Halloween, I can't wait to see what you'll come up with when we get closer to the spooky season. We get over 300 trick-or-treaters here so I'm keeping an eye out for fun prints to give out; I've been making black cats clicker keychains with your designs so far. πŸ’•

Haha! Oh I love my holidays and I already have quite a few fun ideas for Halloween that I’m excited to create! I’ll make sure I release them with plenty of time to print them before the spooky day!

Catbeastaisha

I'm so excited to see! I think Jack O'Lanterns or skeleton faces would be pretty awesome. Or ghosts! There's so many different options. πŸ’•πŸ’€πŸŽƒπŸ‘»πŸ’•

Those are all on the list! As well as a couple more complex ideas that I’m really excited about! 🀫

Hey I had four of these break along the layer lines where it inserts into the key mechanism. Do you have recommended settings to print these so they are more long lasting?

Pawpular Prints

Hi Morgan! I'm assuming you're referring to the post that holds the cap on the clicker base is breaking? I'm curious what external perimeter thickness you're using? My slicer defaults to 0.45mm which does not print that post strong. I brought it down to 0.33mm and I get 2 full external perimeters on the cap post which makes it a lot stronger. You can also change the seam position to random so you don't have a weak point along that post. Let me know if you still have problems and I can help you in more detail!

Morgan McCracken

Thank you I'll try that, my default was set at .42mm Thanks for your super speedy reply!

Morgan McCracken

Ok on the new settings it still broke in the same area from falling only 1 foot. Any other settings change recommendations?

Hmm.. I probably need to see a picture of it. I’ll send you a dm
