Do you know what a nosebleed represents in anime? It's very common that when a character feels instantly sexually attracted to another character, the way to convey that to the audience is by giving the character a nosebleed for no reason because other forms of showing "arousal" are inappropriate obviously. I think leaving all the jumps for the second half of the program is reckless. These jumps are really really hard on the body, especially the knees, the ankles and the lower back. The more rotations it has, the harder and nowadays we're talking quadruples (in 2016 there were more triples than quads, but there were some). The ideal is to distribute the jumps as evenly as possible throughout the program, especially the free program, so the skater doesn't get tired too soon or too late. The rest of the elements are exhausting too, so add that to the mix. Leaving all the jumps for the last part might cause injuries. Fortunately these two pieces Yuri's and Yurio's have the lenght of a short program, so Yuri was "relatively" safe.

This episode was ALL about channeling emotions into skating. As an artistic sport, this is a basic thing that really can affect how the audience experiences a program. Yurio got so into the moves of his program that he forgot to keep the emotions up, while Yuri figured out exactly what he needed to comfortably execute ‘Eros’ the whole way through (and, technically, Yuri having all his jumps in the second half of the program would get him more bonus base value points on those jumps)!

From what I remember, yes the timing of the jumps do matter, but before I put my foot in my mouth, I do remember the scoring system is eventually explained in later episodes. Also, Victor did say that the winner was going to be the one who surprised the audience the most, not necessarily the one who did best! Even though Yuri made a mistake, he never lost sight of his vision of "eros." Yurio though, started off thinking about his grandpa but by the end he was too focused on the technical aspect that he lost his vision of "agape" and why he was bummed out by his performance, I think. When Yurio saw how focused Victor was on Yuri's performance, he knew he was defeated. (tbh not really sure how this competition would have been scored or if Victor was just going to choose a favorite, but guess it didn't even matter in the end, lol)

Loved the reaction! It's been a while since I've followed fs so I could be wrong, but I believe that jumps done in the second half of the program are worth 10% more, so yes there is a bonus. Interestingly, I think that after the 2018 Olympics, after Alina Zagitova did all of her jumps in the second half, they limited this bonus to apply to only 1 jump in the short program and 3 jumps in the free skate with the goal of reducing this backloading and to encourage more balanced programs.

Every feeling and thought you had so far is going to get intensified so be prepared. I would say this is more of a coming of age story with a sport element opposed to a sports anime.
