52 teams per tournament. 12 teams get bye rounds, so 40 teams play in round 1 and 20 of them go home. So right now, karasuno have advanced to the round of 32. If you’re interested in how they select which teams get byes: 4 of the teams are the top 4 teams from the last national tournament (the inter-high) and they’ll be at opposite ends of the brackets. The other 8 are chosen at random. There’s also usually another bye slot of those 8 that’s given to the top Tokyo representative team for being the host. However, in this case, the top Tokyo team, Itachiyama, are also the first seed because they won the inter-high. So, there’s no bye slot for Tokyo specifically in this tournament.

Back when I was a kid in Brazil, we called those serves the "Star Trek" serve. It was, indeed, invented in beach volleyball but was also used indoors and in real competitions. Popularized by Bernard in the 80s I still remember it being used by Tande in the 92 Olympics. I've kinda fallen off watching sports since then so no idea if anyone's used it this decade. Edit: Bernard would also jokingly call it "Gone With the Wind" serve specifically when he missed.

Suga Suga Suga!! First he names Kageyama & Hinata's back attack, than he gets chaotic/sassy or cheeky as you say with Tsukki. Then he comes in for that one vital all important final point and does an amazing serve, sets tanaka, and than saves the rally with an awesome receive. Like their captain said back when Suga, Daichi, and Asahi were first years, "If the opportunity comes than take it", and it shows our 3rd years as first years than fades back to present time show Suga, Daichi, and Asahi in how much they have come. Then that same captain who was there along with another alumni who was captain when our 3rd years were 2nd years said "Opportunities present themselves to those who have prepared." Suga definitely came in prepared despite only coming in at the end, but it wasn't just Suga everybody else on Karasuno came prepared, and like Adam pointed out it all started with Kiyoko getting back Hinata's shoes.

The player’s name is Bernard Rajzman, from the Los Angeles Olympic Games Silver medal team. I’m very proud to say I saw this team rising from absolute scratch in world volleyball around 1982, only to reach the first volleyball Olympic medal only 6 years after. I think it’s fair to say this team was the foundation for our historic first gold medal in Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992 ( THAT was a dream team, with legendary setter Mauricio Lima).

sorry to bother about this, but is there anyway we can get the videos hosted back on another video player outside of patreon? sometimes my internet is crummy and the quality of the videos dips so badly i can't read the subtitles at all ): the player on patreon doesn't let me control the video quality at all either. not on my browser, at least.
