I can't believe it's over! We went through a lot with this anime, from L to the corporation, then Mello & Near to Teru, and everything in between. Just when we thought we had things sorted out, something would pop up to completely derail us, and while frustrating at times, it was so good!

You know I love this ending though 😏

So I *believe* Teru stabbed himself with his pen. Chalk it up as another "why are these dingus' not in cuffs yet!?" haha But overall, gosh I love this anime. I stand by that the first "half" (up to L's demise) is such a perfect story, even if it meant Light won. I still like the Near + Mello stuff, especially this ending, but it doesn't quite hit as hard.

lol no, teru literally killed himself. after everything he stood for, the "god" her served; it was all fake. so he committed suicide Also, they tried to handcuff light, but he swiped his hand away. You can see it if you rewatch the scene. I love this episode. i love how pathetic light is. it's such a good ending, to me

If you guys are interested, there's actually a sequel, an aftermath (3 years after Kira's death and so on) but it's only in Manga. I'm gonna leave an official VIZ link below, the first chapter can be read without signing up then just sign up to view the rest (it's just five chapters). Btw, Japanese Manga is read from RIGHT to LEFT so use left arrow key to turn to the next page. And just one note, the ending in the manga was a little different, Light didn't run outside so there's a bit more tension/drama happened... I will just let you guys to find out. If you guys ever gonna do it, hope you film yourselves while reading it, we gonna love to see it. Anime-only normies didn't know there's a bit more story of Death Note. ;) https://www.viz.com/shonenjump/death-note-short-stories-chapter-1/chapter/24664

also, its worth noting that light died in the middle of a staircase. not at the top (heaven) and not at the bottom (hell), but in the middle. in purgatory, where any user of the death note is destined to be

miyano mamoru is such a goated voice actor i think light will always be my favorite role of his like UGH im obsessed

In the manga, Light has an even more pathetic attitude. And it's made clear that Light was only a psychopath for Ryuk's entertainment. And I feel like there's a certain parallel between the viewers and Ryuk, like we're here watching you get drunk on power and keep us entertained with your tactics to get your way, and we want an interesting outcome. Maybe if he had gotten away with it again, both Ruyk and us would have gotten bored of Light.

I know this isn't a perfect anime, there are a lot of challenges in writing smart people. But I think it is still a good anime that's worth watching

Ryuk

If there is a live action that gives justice to the anime i would say none!lol. BUT that is only because I like death note’s live action better than the actual anime! I can bet that it could still throw you guys in a loop considering you have finished the anime (the old and original versions not the current ones). It was 3 parts but part3 is more of an OVA. It would be nice to give it a watch on cam or off although a reaction to it as well would be super cool specialy on the key moments! 😎😉

Yeah, I see myself in Sarah’s reactions to this anime a lot regarding the first time I watched this. On rewatch though I did appreciate the character writing more and especially Near, Mello, Matsuda and Aizawa. And poor Soichiro, may he never know. L is still a favorite character of mine overall, for being so smart and emotional at the same time, and for having that reaction to learning about Shinigami.

*A bit of Spoiler* I saw Death note for the first time around 2013. My friend gave it to me on his USB. I was a kid back then, and I was so upset when L died, never really gave Near and Mello a chance. My friend only gave me 36 episodes. I DIDN'T KNOW THE BETTER AND ALWAYS THOUGHT LIGHT HAD WON for a couple of years :(

Just a note that the manga ending is slightly different (like, the last two minutes) and I think it's better. "Spoilers" ahead . . . . . In the manga, after yelling about Misa, Takada, whatever and asking for help, he finally sees Ryuk and asks him for help. Ryuk starts writing in his notebook and everyone panics, but Near tells them to relax because if Ryuk is willing to help Light he would've done it already. Ryuk says that it's true and shows that he wrote Light's name. He says that if Light had to ask him for help he knows it's done, and then basically says what he did in the anime. I think this is a slightly better ending because it shows even more how pathetic Light is, and him being able to escape in the anime is dumb (hello? someone grab this limping man!) and in the anime his death was slightly more dignified than dying in a puddle in some warehouse while begging for help.

If you both are interested, I have the live action DVD's. I can mail them to you. It's the versions made in Japan, not the terrible Netflix adaptation. It's the two movies that cover the whole anime. There's some obvious changes due to what they could do in a live action and the CGI is pretty old.

Sarah

I hoped that L would have been the one to take Light down, but I'm glad it ended the way it did. Whyyyyy would Teru stab himself with his pen?! I was sooooo confused!

Sarah

Ok thanks for the explanation on Teru... I was so caught off guard!

Sarah

Thanks for much for sharing this!!

Sarah

Where can we find the live action??

Sarah

Haha I'm glad I'm not alone.

Sarah

WHATTTTTT?!?!! That is actually so tragic hahaha

Sarah

I agree... I like this so much more!

Ryuk

IMdb? Titled as follows 1. Death note: L change the world 2. Death note: Last name

Wsgyan

Can’t wait to see you guys watching mob

Freedom

Same. I was enjoying Sarah loathe Light, because that's literally me. Haha. I like Death Note only because of L, and honestly this show ended for me when L died, and the succeeding episodes have always been foggy in my memories coz I didn't really care anymore. So, it was really entertaining to watch Sarah get annoyed with Light, coz same. Haha
