I love this episode. It’s so powerful 😭 you guys are picking up on the themes which is what is important at this point lol. it will all piece together 😌 and to your point about Thorfinn not having a choice.. i think he did have a choice. He was just too young and naive to make a good one, but ultimately he snuck on the boat on his own and stayed with Askelaad on his own and pillaged innocent villages on his own. Him making that choice is more of a reflection on how the glorification of violence that was embedded in his culture played a major role in influencing that decision. Like Adam said, it’s like the gravity of what he has done has caught up to him, along with the PTSD. Einar is a contrast to Thorfinn. Einar’s father was also killed when he was young and he didn’t go on a revenge mission. Seeing Einar empathize with Thorfinn despite him being part of a group that did the same thing that killed his family twice is like him dropping his dagger before it does any harm. And we see it really means something to Thorfinn 🥹 Thorfinn’s character is very near and dear to my heart. I love this season.

Thorfinn just didn't have a normal life. So he just basicaly doesn't know how to function like a normal person. He's kinda like a kid that's starting to learn. Also Thorfinn did get thrown into the battlefield, and he was just a kid, but you have to remember that he still chose to live this life to go after Askeladd. They didn't kidnap him. He could have stopped at any time but he didn't. And he killed people because of that. You missinterpreted what Einar was saying, he didn't say: "I don't care about your story" he was angry that Thorfinn didn't value his life. He was saying: "I don't care about what hell you went through, but you're alive because someone kept you alive, so you better value that" Adam intepretation of "Don't be so arrogant" is correct.
