Hey gang,

I just recovered from covid and got back to work, singing lesson and some songwriting today. I made this chorus in a few hours today, question is, should I go this semi-comedic route with it or write something else for the responses/or maybe just make them sung? Not gonna lie tho I kinda like the screaming, gets the message across. Let me know what you think!


Btw I have a levels video we never released, I might show it to you guys soon and ask what you think we should do with it :)

It's not bad at all! I'm very much into it being someone who LOVES the live theater and always get huge kick out of the songs that are comedic like this in musical productions. It's fun and feel good and like idk something you could sing and scream along to 💛

If you don’t make a short video to accompany this, I feel like it’s a wasted opportunity. They way the yelling feels/sounds, kickstarts my brain to imagine it visually. It’s late-ish and it might not make sense but that’s the best I got!

Lol! It hits me as a full-on comedy song right now. I would be curious to know how it sounds with those parts sung, or sung with different processing of the vocals. Agree that it needs some kind of separate character from the other vocals for sure. I don’t think I’d listen to it as a song with the screams, even though it made me laugh.

You've had a number of deep song demo's lately that I relate to way too much so I for one appreciate some comedic relief 😂.

Yeah, I definitely think this would be hilarious with responses. Maybe, if you still wanna sing them, you could do melodic backgrounds under the spoken lines. Just sitting in the back. I remember shouty moments in the ol' days, like the skit for "inside of you" 🤣 I think the juxtaposition of soft spoken word vs loud could work well, especially with a funny video attached, like Chance heckling your partners choices of choosing you! I do like your angry outside voice for some reason... *indecent thoughts of Joel being all dominant and Alpha 😝😝😝😝

I love when you do screamy stuff. I imagine this as a comedy thing or tiktok thing, kinda has a “weird science” or that one song from “brave little toaster vibe”.. lol. However, just my opinion, I kinda think ya should lean into it more serious. I love the lyrics.. it’s relatable to feel like someone is out of your league or too good for you, and that could be made into a relatable, cool and fun pop song, maybe with sarcastic vibes- kind of like how you did with “oh summer”. Anyway, glad you are feeling better and are having fun with music!

Glad you're feeling better after COVID, starting to think that contracting the virus post pandemic might be your unnecessary speciality though! 😂 I love this sound and concept wise, just sat laughing for a couple of minutes at the screams. The lyrics are very unrelatable for me personally but they are silly and fun! It reminds me of those videos you made using comments to write songs (a la Let's Invade Norway). I can even see the music video for this song now lol My favorite line is the "Whatcha doin, whatcha doin" bit. So catchy!

Second, about the song, the shouty bits are funny, the parts you actually sing are very much as you usually sing, I am very curious if for this being a comedic song you would have tried something else, I know you don’t like the whispery voice but maybe for this one it would work as a contrast? The melody and harmonies are really very good. I want to keep listening to the song. The melody can stand alone, together with your voice. But, I have always loved the songs where you have added your comedic touch, so I kind of hope you keep the shouts.
