Hey Patrons :)

Comments

Elle Quinn

Aw how sweet! Thanks Joel :)

Airyckah Lane

Q: Ohh this was fun. I’m not too sure switching our videos to the other site would fully work, but i don’t fully know that site. Would it still embed in here so we could get updates?

Ashley Ballman

I love this!! Thank you so much! Definitely rest up!:)

CK DeP

Hiiii, Joel I see my comment in the video thumbnail 😀 tack så mycket Joel! 💓😀👍😆 You're da bestest, love & appreciate all what you do! @Roomie

Live time working on stuff helps in courses for things for me because it gives a more realistic idea of how much time and energy I should realistically put aside before getting frustrated at something 😅 (if this is what it you sorta meant by that statement)

Arinion

Damnit, now I am way too curious about the actual correlation of the sound and frequencies between real voice and AI and any of that info Is completely irrelevant to my life. Also, the amount of bugs I had with Patreon ... Now I am wondering how many people had genuine issues with Patreon apart from me?

Shauna

I’m in the thumbnail bitches 💁🏻‍♀️ (haven’t watched yet. At work LOL)

Rainbowz Grace

Thanks for the update Joel! I really like these video updates, definitely prefer them to the text ones. That weekly call thing is a really good idea, great way to keep in touch! Appreciate ya, thx again :)

Dannielle O'Neill

Why do I feel like the (?) thing was a call out? 😳 It wasn't...RIGHT?! 🤣

Adina

Please try to not cut out too much from the songwriting series. Maybe is a personal bias but videos like “I spent 30 days playing guitar hero to get better at guitar” are doing pretty good in the algorithm, at least in my feed I get recommended a lot of 1h videos. Don’t want to pressure you if taking more footage or editing that much would take too much out of you Regarding the reaction to various models I think you should do it, it would give you an opportunity to talk about how you see the impact of new technology in music. You inspired me to also make a conscious choice to call my mom more often, I really don’t do that enough. So thank you 😊

Dannielle O'Neill

Me in the comments of the last update: We don't mind if you show our comments in the patreon update video, they're up on Patron anyway... Joel: Ok...Imma just leave you're account summary up there for a sec 🤣 (It's totally fine, I'm just having a laugh at the irony that it was me.)

CK DeP

Q: Do you think if you're interested in doing these live videos, can you remind us when doing it so we can comment it live and you can see or read them as your filming in the moment 😀 @Roomie I did see my comment on the video but it never got read or spoken out in video lol 😆

Adina
>>114946540

Regarding the Patreon thing, I use the mobile app, this post was the first one I got a notification for in months, so that was a bit annoying for a while. Other than that I didn’t experience any problems with it.

Lianne Conroy

That is a nerdy freaking video game dude. I never realized how often I said like until I started posting on discord and Patreon. Now I read my comments before I post them because like is in every sentence. But a lot of the time I just leave it.

Sofía Reyes

I can't believe you are reading my comment first! This is great :)) And I really really love to know about your everyday. Just adore your videos and original music. You are awesome. Greetings from Chile! Q: What games are you playing lately?

CK DeP

I just posted on the Patreon community tab :) maybe that'll help! @Roomie

Stephanie Bruso

Q: Was Pewdiepie’s brofist popular even before you wrote the song? Q: “Good Person” (song with TheOdd1sOut) has the line “for example February 7.” Do you know if that was day was random or did it mean something? Q: did you know that Taylor Swift’s backup dancer follows you on Instagram? Maybe you get invited as a guest in Sweden? Lol his name is Sam McWilliams (sam_mcdub). Q: are you officially done with Twitch? Your Wikipedia page says present but I could update it with the end year if you want me to. Q: if you could make a video about anything in the world and you didn’t have to worry about money what would it be about? Q: would you consider showing my projects on your channel? I work so hard on them. Q: did you hear that Sweden won against the USA in FIFA World Cup? Q: would consider bringing the Discord M&Gs back? Sorry I have so many questions lol. You don’t have to answer all them. Thank you Joel

Bookdragon 43

Thanks so much for the update!! Q: Are you planning any collabs with anyone? Love these video updates❤💟 Appreciate you!!👏👍

Dorie

So the funny thing about the pauses, they’re not nearly as noticeable to us as they feel to you. Now the laughing when you pause 😜. Q: are you working on any new songs right now, or planning on going back and finishing any of your other ones?

Stephanie Bruso

1989 (Taylor’s version) was announced yesterday, a no hitter in baseball ⚾️, 50% off my Starbucks drink was so good. So I had a great day yesterday. Hope you get some rest Joel. I would prefer to say here on Patreon honestly. It would be easier that way. Thank you for answering my question about Taylor Swift. It’s too bad that you couldn’t go to the concert.

Mari

lol omg just take the macbook to Apple. Make an appointment with the Genius Bar and they will repair it. I've had to replair MANY macs over the years and even did the same thing, but spilled grape juice all over my keyboard and it shut the whole laptop down, had to repair it, and they replaced the whole hard drive and everything. So, good to know they have made their computers more durable over the years 😅 Aww glad you're getting to connect with your family more again, it's so nice being able to have that with them especially when you're so far away 💛

Cas

Thanks for the update! Q: Do you remember about the Roomie and Friends Reunion on October 8? It should be on your calendar! Q: Do you have a Thursday shirt? You've worn the same shirt 2 Patreon updates inn a row.

Clair (Teampanda)

Hey Joel, I asked a question but did it on the video comments 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I'll ask here maybe for an answer. Q: Have you ever considered creating content specifically for Colleges/Universities? I think you could create really insightful content that would show a more modern approach to music creation. Giving longevity to your career beyond YT is also a smart boy thing to do!

CK DeP

Hey Joel, I posted some of my Qs on the Patreon community tab idk if that helps you finding it better. @Roomie

Dannielle O'Neill

Q: If you were to do a video about the voice models, would you be looking to just do small experiments or complete a "project" (like a song or something)? Ig I'm trying to think of how it would be more interesting and less scary to people...bc obv they'd be more likely to watch. What I'm hearing in a lot of the discussion I see about art and A.I. is that people want to see is the human connection to the art. I think if you can make it clear that is still a large part of the artform, people will feel more open to ideas. *sorry for rambling* 😀

Roomie
>>114950080

They will replace the entire front of the machine, I’m not under warranty. Way too expensive 😅

Mari
>>114950080

shaking my head 😹 also you could do what I did and just buy a bluetooth keyboard and use that. I had two keys die on my current laptop and couldn't get it repaired 💀

xtina 🖤

I love the updates in video form- super enjoyable! Q: Did you consider putting your courses on YouTube as its own channel? sometimes browser is a friction point and often people search for tutorials on yt first. Q: what if you made your website into an app? so that people could view courses on mobile easily & then you could have your content creator support/bonus stuff there too (patreon content w/subscription -but thru ur own app). love your course set up- not too much detail or fluff, concise and simplified!

xtina 🖤

Q: are you considering releasing more songs this year too? there were so many good demos!

Leah Miranda

Q: Are you still working on any of your older songs that you've teased us with? Back in November (pretty sure) you were working on a song on Twitch and we all just hung out with you and gave you ideas for 4 hours. It was super fun and I've been dyyyyying for the full song lol P.S. Thank you for the update and I think it's super sweet that you're taking the time to talk to your family more. <3 Please, above anything else, always take care of YOU first. I think I speak for all of us (or at least most of us) when I say that your ideas are wonderfully creative, and we support you no matter what the content or how long it takes for it us to be able to see it. <3

Dannielle O'Neill
>>114950080

You need a spill proof coffee mug. You have spilled enough coffee on camera that this was not even a little bit of a surprise...this is an issue, my dude. ☕️

Dannielle O'Neill
>>114950080

Do what we peasants do and just click ignore when the "sticky key" alarm goes off. Not me tho. I don't spill coffee. Idk what you're talking about. 😬

CK DeP
>>114948416

Oh okay, cool thx! 😀 💓 So I'll have to comment / ask Joel for my video ideas/suggestions on comments here with the Q and the : in the same post comment? And do I add in the question marks or no lol

Shauna

Okay. Watched. Big update!! Lol. Also didn’t know being into video updates was funny but here we are 😂😂 Happy you took time for games!! That’s so ironic you’ve been playing a cooking game bc I have as well, just on my phone called Delicious World. The AI reaction sounds cool!! The voices you mentioned in the course were crazy. But yea for the course itself for the modeling maybe just start with a baseline model? Idk…then work it up from there i suppose. Love that you’re talking to family more!! I need to do that as well. I’m so bad at it. .-. I know this is a long comment! Sorry :p Q: How long is the AI course going to be all together?

MediocreAtBest

Thanks for the update! The video format was nice. I feel like you could keep alot in and show the realistic timeline for the songwriting video you mentioned, longer form seems to do well - or maybe that's just my bias showing. Q: are you currently working on any particular song(s) singing lesson wise?

Hayley

Q: How much do you already regret this 'Q:' idea? 😂😂 Jokes. Loving the video updates, good to see you looking so happy, taking time for yourself and family. My Dad, sister and I have a WhatsApp group and every morning we fire a little text off just to check in as we all live scattered across the UK and rarely see each other. It's a nice easy way of keeping in touch. Keep up the good work, thank you as always for the update. Appreciate ya 🤩☮️

Stephanie Bruso

Q: I think it would fun if you went to Vidcon as a feature creator. Is that something you would like to do next year? If so, then would consider performing a show there. I think would be great practice and promotion. Q: would you run a poll on Patreon before *potentially* switching platforms? I think that would a great way to see what we think before considering the switch. Q: would you consider making more time for us in the Patreon chat on Discord? When you joined on February 5, 2022, I was literally crying (tears of joy)😭. I’m talking about just a few minutes. Q: would you be willing to answer our messages on Patreon? Q: favorite song at the moment? Q: more tiers for Patreon? I have autism so I keep thinking of questions. Lol sorry.

Jen 🦙

Thanks for the update, I’m excited for the upcoming songwriting videos but I’m so glad to hear that you’ve taken some time for yourself this week. Self care is important and functioning without it is questionable at best 😅 Q: This is completely random but why do you have two air fryers? Again, I know this isn’t music related but it’s been bugging me since the AI video came out! 😂

JustSomeJK

Breath deep couple of times and good night 😄 I ain't gonna burden u with questions now 😁 Thanks for the updates and reading and answering to some of our comments. Sorry to hear about ur computer, good luck fixing it 🙂

♠️ Aslyn Jobry ♠️

Lovely to see you make time for your family. A call/video call is just as meaningful as meeting them in person~~ 💜 Q: Will you be changing youtube banner to promote So Selfish?

Mona

Thanks for this update, love it! That stretching thing is a great idea, sometimes stretching for me feels nicer than an exercise, I need to find a similar reminder on the phone. Also, I feel those pauses while speaking are super normal (I know the "uhhhhh" doesn't sound nice), when someone just goes on talking it gives off a reading from a script vibe 😅

loonylovesgood

Here’s an absolutely important question. Q: Have you ever spilled coffee on that pristine white couch??

Franceska

TY Joel for your update! Selfish is great song IMO, the video is awesome and couldn’t be better - you are pionier, again! Congrats! This one can be a „slow burner” as you mentioned it. The whole IA tech is stunning, and interesting - for music creators and „ordinary listeners” as well. BUT I must admit, that last week I rediscovered one of your oldest YT songs - Ugly. It’s almost 10y old, but sounds so fresh to me - maybe because its rock/fusion vibe, fabulous drumming and singing. Also text stands the test of time, all the „beauty issues” etc. But my QUESTION is: which song do you want release as next? Have you considered it?

When people often use Autism as an “easy way out”, then it reflects unfairly on those living with the condition. So by you excusing some of your behaviors with your autism diagnosis, you are trivializing the problem, and it's unfair to those who can legitimately say that their autism makes them struggle. So could you please try to be more aware with how you’re wording things in the future for not only yourself but others on the spectrum both in this community and irl?

Mari
>>114968569

As a fellow person on the spectrum, I approve of this message.

Stephanie Bruso
>>114968569

Why can’t people ever just leave me alone? Omg I honestly wish I could block all of you on here.

Stephanie Bruso
>>114968569

I’m not going to change my comment because I have autism and I don’t care if you’re offended by it

Sugary Magnolia
>>114968569

Asking a lot of questions might seem silly to some, but imagine publicly being a total bitch to a content creator and then blaming your autism when they threaten to make you go away. Now that would be a bit unfair to the community I think. Hypothetically speaking of course.

Sugary Magnolia
>>114968569

So you would never use it as an excuse for your behavior? Interesting. Must have been another "Godz" that did that.... can't keep up with all these newbs.

Sugary Magnolia

Q: Have you ever thought about doing Cameos? Could be a fun way to help fund your bigger projects while having more fan engagement! I'm too Boomer to keep up with so many apps - keeping updates in this format is perfect. But I suppose that depends on the changes Patreon is making.

Sugary Magnolia
>>114968569

You didn't do anything wrong. Bullies just like to bully, and they like reactive targets. It's OK to walk away from this conversation and save yourself the distress. Not worth being upset over words from insignificant people who don't even know you.

Gayle

Q: Do you already have a creative team? A team that helps organize ideas, suggestions into usable endeavors for you? If I may be so bold....I see such potential for you. I see it without you needing to compromise. Thank you for all that you do and with that you have shared😘😘❤️❤️

Helga 🦊

Thanks for the update ☺️ Here is the random question from me. Q:If you had to choose one colour for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Mona

So I'm lying in bed last night well past 1 a.m. and suddenly Sandstorm starts blasting from outside. So many whats and whys. It made me think of meme songs for a while and I started wondering, Q: Is there a meme song that you actually like, as in you would play it sometimes, sing along etc?

Expired Coupon

Ooh I love this Q&A idea and format! Q: Are there any genres or styles of music-making that are way outside your comfort zone? If so, would you ever consider exploring those and challenging yourself to step outside that comfort zone to see where it goes? Just for curiosity’s sake? Q: When doing group projects, what would you say are some of your strengths and weaknesses? When considering people to potentially collaborate with, what kinds of unique strengths, skills, talents, or characteristics are on your co-contributor/dream-team wish list? Q: Do you have any questions, concerns, comments, hopes, dreams, wishes, etc. for us?? (I’m being facetious with this one, please don’t feel obligated to respond to this🤪)

Genevieve

Q: have you considered blending the songwriting challenges with AI? I'm thinking something like who can make a song that sounds the most like X artist, and then using their AI voice model. Could be interesting to see songwriters trying to put themselves into the mind of an other artist and see who gets the closest and how

Stephanie, I don’t think you did anything wrong. Autism is a very wide spectrum and the manner in which your individual symptoms manifest are not representative of all people with the diagnosis. The way in which you think and behave does not minimize, negate, trivialize, or reflect on others with the condition in any way because you are an autonomous being. You are a person first, an individual who happens to also have autism. Your diagnosis does not define you, nor does it define others. The individual struggles and experiences are going to be a little bit different for everyone on the spectrum. That said, I’d like to humbly ask that everybody please try to be more compassionate, patient, understanding, and kind to each other in the comments. Please? 🙏🏼

Dannielle O'Neill

Q: There's always going to be a next new thing, but that doesn't mean everything else has to fall away. I think that is what many are so afraid of. I think human connection is still important we will continue to seek it out also. What is your take on that? Maybe that is something you could talk about/explore?

PhantomFidget

Hej, not sure when I'll ask, currently working backstage on a few things. In the meantime, have a spiritual Oreo & may your upcoming/future projects continue to go well for you Mate 🍪🐾
