Hey Patrons 2023-08-17

Comments

Airyckah Lane

Q: thank you for continuing to do these! Would you mind telling us the story of how you came about with the name “Roomie” again, please?

Luna

Because of the number of comments: maybe it also counts the replies? It shows the same for me. I thought it was because of that. :D

CK DeP

tack så mycket Joel for another one of these!!! So much fun!!! Q: Are you going to continue with the Lil Pitchy songs or singles or something or just have it as yourself as "Roomie" ? Q: Are you planning to do tour?! Q: Are you planning to do or make anymore merch? Or perhaps thinking of doing some Lil Pitchy merch or something?! Q: As someone who is very interested in participating or learning how to make better videos (lens, backdrops/tapestries , musical instruments, etc.) To make the video more interesting, how would you give some ideas, tips, advice to someone who is trying or learning how to make better content but on a tight budget? @Roomie

Jess Haggstron

Q: If you weren't a musician, what would you be? Or can you imagine yourself doing anything else than music and yt? Miss your songs btw🤍

Mari

You should just get a small rice cooker, it'll be life changing. also you were at the top of the comments, it's weird how Patreon acts like there's more when there isn't. Why not plan for the move to be at beginning of next year?

Alle Engdahl

I remember that song! Q: What is the last thing you did just for fun?

Cas

Thanks for the video updates, they are very enjoyable! Very excited about the big Roomie & Friends reunion! Q: What did you do with all the music you were working on with other songwriters during your trip to Nashville? Will we ever see anything come from that?

Stephanie Bruso

Q: did you know that Taylor Swift's backup dancer follows you on Instagram? Maybe you get invited as a guest in Sweden? Lol his name is Sam McWilliams (sam_mcdub). I wish you would have said it was one per person, but thanks for answering my question! This video could have been an hour long I would watch it all.

Luna

Q: Have you ever considered doing more drum'n'bass as in your song with Custom Phase? Or was it just a... phase? ;D No, seriously: I love Lost It All and would really love to hear more like this!

Lianne Conroy

Rice in the microwave? That's really gross. It only takes a few extra minutes to just boil it on the stove in a pot. Thanks for these updates. They are really interesting

Dannielle O'Neill

Joel actin' like we don't remember a super romantic whispery voice song?! Ummm...SIR! Who do you think we are?! Nice try. 😜

Dannielle O'Neill

Q: There are TWO WHITE COUCHES?! Mad man! Did you ever get the wrinkle out of that rug? (LOL only remembering bc ur talking about the furniture)

Dannielle O'Neill
>>115475924

But then you have to pay attention. My ADHD could NEVER. Rice cooker is the way to go for some of us. But I'm with you about the microwave.

Lianne Conroy
>>115475924

You boil the water, then once it's boiling you put the rice in and then you put a cover on it and turn the heat off and it just like sits there and you can leave it for a while. The heat's not on anymore. The worst that happens is it gets like sticky and a little dry or cold maybe

Patti

Q:hey Joel You were saying how glitchy Patreon is …has anyone else ever told you that even as a member there are some of your stuff that won’t open? It will say the video is locked. Very frustrating. Especially when trying to watch stuff with more than one part and some parts are blocked . Anyway love everything you do and thanks for always making me smile

Ave Castruita

Thanks Patreon for the notifications I never get. No questions just nice to know you're doing good. Abracito.

Courtney Walker

"Everywhere With You" was one of my favorite demos you put out! I know it's kind of cheesy, but I love the vibe. Very chill.

loonylovesgood

Q: This is a very serious question. A boba tea shop opened up down the street from me. WHAT SHOULD I ORDER???

Shauna

No question just if you see this, please know that i found your airfryer story hilarious bc that is such a you thing to do and i CANNOT with you 😂😂😂😂

Miriam

Loving the video updates!! Yes, I have noticed that Patreon can be glitchy because sometimes I don't get notifications which is really strange. Q: Are there any songs or artists that you have been listening to a lot recently? Any recommendations?

Clair (Teampanda)

Yee haw to the update 🤠 and ty for answering my question. That demo song has definitely been in one of the 'make a song challenges' was it the wedding one? The fact you explained the air fryer situ is hilarious...most people buy an oven, with a hob, you buy 2 air fryers 😂 You can buy Airfryers that can do two things at once at different temperatures, Ninja def do one. Honestly if you're going to go all appliance mad just buy a rice cooker. Have a look in the Chinese Supermarket/stores locally you'll probably be able to get a decent one and whilst you're there get some ingredients to liven up the tofu and your veggies!

Nataliekey

'moving some of us to the other side' somehow sounded a bit like a threat there for a moment 🤣🤣 Q: Best Filmsoundtrack in your opinion? Happy weekend ✌️

Helga 🦊

Q: When you hear a song that you like, do you start unintentionally analysing (even just in your head) the production, vocals etc or you just enjoy it?

xtina 🖤

i think the demo “everywhere with you” is a good starting point & has potential to be really good-find the lany zone with it hehe! Q: fav newer songs that are out now? mine are “so selfish” 😈, “natural” by valley & “novocaine” from band camino

Adina

Maybe try the new site with a minimal number of people, as glitchy as Patreon is, it was created for this type of content and interactions, they sorted a lot of stuff to get to this functionality and you may also need to sort some stuff out before everything goes smoothly on another website. Also, if i could make a request to be moved over as late as possible, I function on the app, visiting a website would be a big change for me.

Adina

Q: Do you think all love songs are cheesy? If not can you give an example of one that isn’t?

Jen 🦙

Thank you for answering my question, though I will say it’s made me curious about cooking veg in my air fryer and it’s sent me on a 9am side quest to buy a rice cooker instead of buying more micro rice! 🤣🤣 Seriously though, really enjoying this Q and A format it’s fun and entertaining! Hope you find time to relax this weekend, sounds like you’ve had a very productive week 😊 Q: What do you find helps to keep you energised and focused when you have big projects that need to be done?

Jen 🦙
>>115485548

I feel like I’ve accidentally started a cooking advice side quest forum by asking the original question 🤣

Jen 🦙
>>115482078

If you’re a fruity person I’d definitely recommend giving mango tea with passion fruit bubbles a go 😊

Clair (Teampanda)
>>115485548

Lol...You were right to ask the question though... Who on earth would have 2 air fryers for Tofu and Veggies, personally neither would go in my hypothetical fryer (mine died last year...R.I.P Phillip the fryer, age 8!)

Elle Quinn

Very insightful video :) I love how you’re planning stuff now because honestly it does help when you’re flooded with things to do. Planning helps so much for my ADHD brain because I cannot start or complete anything without proper planning. If we’re moving .. please do link me so I can’t continue to follow you & support you on everything. I admire you so much in what you do. Q: do you write cheesy love songs from imagination or experience? I’ve tried to write from experience but everyone hasn’t been too nice to me so it’s hard to write something so lovely 😂 Keep safe, stay happy and healthy - E :) x

Jen 🦙
>>115485548

Thoughts are with you on your air fryer loss, I don’t have a functioning oven so if mine went it would be a major loss! 😅 8 years is some age though! 🫡 Honestly couldn’t wrap my head around it but I’m glad I have some, albeit chaotic, answers. Wouldn’t expect anything else from him at this point though 😂

Hayley

Q: Does your brain EVER switch off?? Seriously, you're ALWAYS thinking 10 steps ahead 😄

MediocreAtBest

Thanks for playing Bit by Bit for us again c: Get a rice cooker, very much worth it, just remember to rinse the rice - signed a lazy person who can't be trusted to cook rice on the stovetop. Q: if planning to drag & drop us over to the other site for member's content - does the site have a good mobile version/is there an app? Benefit of Patreon is that it can be used as an app and a desktop website (unfortunately a somewhat buggy app depending on the day) - I would guess quite a few are smart phone only users. It's nice to start a Patreon vid on one of my devices and finish watching it on another (typically trade up to a bigger screen) since they are currently YouTube hosted. Idk just food for thought, whatever works best for you in the end though.

Jen 🦙
>>115482078

Can I ask what the differences between the bubbles are? I’m quite new to boba tea and I’m always up for mixing things up 😊

Hey, did y’know, Ninja makes an air fryer with duel zone technology? But see, it’s not *just* an air fryer; it can also broil, dehydrate, bake, roast, and reheat. It has two baskets with the option to do two different cooking times and temperatures. You can sync them to finish cooking at the same time or if you just wanna double up on your recipe and have both baskets do the same thang, you can. It’s super easy to clean and maintain because both baskets are completely removable. And it saves your counter space because it’s basically two machines in one. What’s not to love?! I have one, 5/5 stars, totally highly mega recommend this one. You should check it out! (Obligatory “I’m not sponsored, I just really like it” disclosure 😆)

Rainbowz Grace

This reminded me of the m&gs lol (with the questions and all that) Also I could NEVER plan like you do. I’ll have to stick to finishing projects last minute 😅

Airyckah Lane

Not a Q: but I think i know where your old banner photo is from if you wanted it back

Elli

So nice to hear about your many ideas and plans, especially about the reunion. I love your old covers🎶🎶

Roomie
>>115478611

that's so frustrating! Up-prioritizing moving things to the other site. We'll do some beta tests with just you guys soon

emy
>>115505928

!! I saw that one when I was shopping for my air fryer and I was like 🤩. Glad to hear it’s as amazing as it looks. I ended up getting the Ninja one that’s like a toaster oven because of the bagel capability, very important lol 🥯

emy

I like Kajabi! I access it on desktop but only just realized there’s a Kajabi app

Few things exemplify “tell me you’re a full-fledged grownup without telling me you’re a full-fledged grownup” like getting excited over appliances 😂🤗

Dannielle O'Neill
>>115473456

Excuse me, @Shauna , I am personally offended by your inappropriate language. Cut that shit out. 😜

Bookdragon 43

Thanks so much for answering my question!! I am really enjoying this question and answer format, it reminds me of the M&G's that you did on Discord. Q: What is your favorite part of creating songs\music-- writing the lyrics or music production? Hope you have a great weekend!!😊🎶

Dannielle O'Neill
>>115489903

Fair, and there are already lab rats over there 🐁🙋‍♀️. Feel free to poke us with the metaphorical notification sticks or whatever to test. Lmao 🤣

Adina
>>115489903

Great, you guys let the rest of us know if we need to move our butts over there cause we are missing some very funny jokes or something like that 😁

Mona

So happy to see you becoming more conscious about your health! I am guilty of ordering in often, it's just so much easier being vegan now that it was 10-15 years ago. But that also makes it easier to make the food by yourself, there is so much variety, and with two air fryers... Man, infinite possibilities! 😃😃Seriously though, get a small rice cooker, I live in Asia and it's a must, rice dishes can be so versatile. I've had the rice that you cook in the bag, dude that's nasty. Anyway, thanks for these Q&A updates, you say you are overworked but you literally glow, how is that even possible???

Nataliekey
>>115485806

🤣🤣🤣 Also, I just realized I come with 2 rice cookers (what can I say, I love my carbs 🤷🤣), so we could all pool in and feed a lot of ppl without ever turning on the stove or oven 🤣

Dannielle O'Neill
>>115485806

This rabbit hole is deep, but I'm a lady who likes to cook... I don't actually have an air fryer, BUT the instant pot is my go to. I can feed everybody lmao.

Lianne Conroy
>>115485806

What about a slow cooker? I use mine sooo much. I have an 8 quart slow cooker and live by myself. Is that a problem?

Nataliekey
>>115485806

As far as I'm concerned, you'd be more than welcome to join our imaginary appliance-only cookout 😂😂 the more, the merrier 😂👍

Jen 🦙
>>115482078

Is it the squishy texture cause I totally get that, I’m the same with mushrooms 😅

Dannielle O'Neill

P. S. One update a week isn't a super long time. Don't stress. P.P.S. Not an actual question, but ik it feels nice to hear nice things...idk if you got a haircut or just had a good hair day but 🔥😉

Nataliekey
>>115485806

Uhm excuse my language, but hell yes 🙌🎉🎉 please come and join the party 😂

Mona
>>115564869

Lol! But he will really have to trust us on this and get one, it's definitely the OG instapot 😂People here manage to even make cakes in it!

JustSomeJK

These video updates are awesome! It was nice to relax after work yesterday by watching it, I was just too tired to comment then 😅 That Roomie and Friends reunion will be so epic, can't wait 🙂 Also your plan on making songs out of stories sounds really interesting and cool! I have been listening to the Bit By Bit and Everywhere With You parts from the update video couple of times now 😁 Bit By Bit is such a banger, I'm so excited to hear that u are still working on it and we get to hear it finished someday, it already sounds great 🙂 I had not forgotten Everywhere With You and I actually like it a lot 🎶😍, nothing wrong with some cheese 😁 It has that same affect than the It Happens So Fast, it sets the heart rate to the chill mode, both of those demos have such a nice hopeful vibe to them 😊🌅 and I just can't get enough of them, those demos end too fast 🤪 Which leads to my question... Q: If asking really nicely, would u consider letting us listen to the longer (or even the full) version of the Everywhere With You here in the Patreon, if u aren't planning on releasing it (it would be cool if u did release it though 🙂)? Q: Will u be taking the old Patreon videos and demos to the new website or will all of the old stuff be gone forever then 🥺? Have a nice weekend and stay safe all of you who are living in the path of Hurricane/tropical storm Hilary 🙂💙

JustSomeJK
>>115485548

I'm so envious of his two air fryers 😆 I still haven't bought one for myself... Sorry to hear about your loss 😆 But 8 years is fairly good amount of time, since nowadays it feels like things are programmed to break down in couple of years 😅

JustSomeJK
>>115569372

I agree 💯, he has found a perfect haircut for him and definitely had a good hair day 🔥😁

Jen 🦙
>>115485806

Ooooh, that sounds amazing! 😄 Love when a hypothetical plan comes together! 🎉

Jen 🦙
>>115482078

Glad I’m not alone in this, they genuinely give me the ick! 😷

Jen 🦙
>>115482078

I wish I could enjoy them, there’s so many recipes I want to try but end up avoiding because they’re in them and it puts me off 😣

Nataliekey
>>115485806

I love the fact that we're probably all from completely different parts of the world, and still I'm sitting here patiently waiting till someone drops the 'when&where' 🤣

Jen 🦙
>>115485806

Same, it’s even funnier when you think about the fact that some of us would have to explain to airport security why we were needing extra weight allowance for all the appliances 🤣🤣

Nataliekey
>>115485806

This 👆🤣 and let's not think about the fact that after schlepping all that luggage all across the globe, just for half of it probably going missing on the way and then realizing that whatever does make it doesn't work because of power outlet differences 🤣😭🤣

Jen 🦙
>>115485806

That is a worthwhile risk that comes with chaotic science 🤣 we’d also need to hire a log cabin/AirBnB to house us all too, side quest foodie holiday! 🤣🤣

Nataliekey
>>115485806

That sounds so cozy 🤗 I might have to sell a kidney beforehand to raise the funds, but I'd be cool with that 🤣🤣

Jen 🦙
>>115485806

Same but I’m still down and fully invested in the chaos 🤣🤣 food is always worth it 😂😂😂

Jen 🦙
>>115485806

I’ve also just realised that I have mini donut and brownie makers too, sweet treats all round! 🥳🤣🤣

Clair (Teampanda)
>>115485548

I know I was surprised it lasted that long too!I bought it when Air Fryers had just come out so it wasn't digital just a dial for the temp and time, that way not a lot could go wrong! Like all my applicances they either succumb to the ravages of time or my other half blows them up, to get to double digits in this house is a record 😂

Jen 🦙
>>115485806

Guess we’d hypothetically need to travel to near you to save you the heartbreak of losing appliances 😅

JustSomeJK
>>115485548

So basically u can call yourself a trend setter with ur early air fryer 😁 I think air fryers landed Finland about 5 years ago and have been super trendy couple of years now. I have a waffle iron that is in it's double digits, but the secret to that is, that I have used it only once or twice 🤪

Lianne Conroy
>>115485806

Is your pizza oven something you can move? Only ever seen them when they're like built into a wall with stone.

Jen 🦙
>>115485806

Mine is a small electrical appliance, kinda like a slightly bigger waffle maker 😊

I love the video updates with Q and A segment~~💜 Thank you for answering our questions. And um.. RIP old banner-chan. Q: Have you experienced listening fatigue?

Shauna

Q: is your roof fixed finally?? Lol

CK DeP

Ayyy Joel has answered my question! & YES JOEL! YOU'VE SAID MY USERNAME CORRECTLY!!👏😀 (It's actually my First name inital & middle & last name) Q: Why do you make some songs (demos) then tease us about it or give us (Patreons) some bits of the song & we needs the fully finished song but then we don't get it? Lol Q: IDK how to really say this without sounding dumb or something lol, but how do you get someone who is trying to become/ trying out to be Vegan / Gluten Free, Dairy Free? & is Boba good for starting out? If so what kinds/types of flavors of Bobas or Coffees, foods , etc. Would you suggest for starting out Vegan / Gluten / Dairy Free? Q: (also relating to question above) , how do u take your Bobas or Coffee? & I have tried Boba for the first time last year (I LOVE it) but it gave me some discomfort & issues, is that normal or did I order something that’s not really Boba? (It has those Boba balls in it so idk what was it lol plus 1st time trying it too) Q: How many questions is "too many" for reading them out & or answering? (Like is the qs limited?) Q: idk if you've seen or read or looked at my other post comments I've done about the video ideas / suggestions , are you still taking them in? Q: Have you seen/read my video ideas/suggestions? please let me know, I did put in some video links for you to look at directly on YT & pick the bestest one out of each topics! (Warning if you have read or seen my comment on those video ideas/suggestions imo some of those video topics I have put in to me are kinda embarrassing idk but I think you'll know what one's I'm talking about!) lol 😆 @Roomie

Lejla Kollár

Q: Have you ever thought about taking a basic cooking course? We'd love to see a video about it ;-) And It would be good for everyone :D

Melissa Rogers
>>115477447

Oh yeah!! Q: And what about that water leak?! (The one with the 5 gallon bucket. 😜) LOL!!

Melissa Rogers
>>115478611

Q: Other than “Making Music Fast”, what is the name of the other site?! And how can I find it…App Store, Google?!

Melissa Rogers
>>115479949

Joel sounds amazing in “Everywhere With You”!! Hopefully (someday), he’ll decide to finish and release it!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Melissa Rogers
>>115539789

I found 3 listings for “Kajabi” in the App Store: Kajabi, Kajabi Communities, and Kajabi Creators. I’m sure Joel will be using the creator’s one, but what’s the difference between the other two?! Which one do you think he’s referring to and gonna be moving us patrons over to?! I just want to make sure I download the correct one. 🙏🏻🙏🏻😁😁

emy
>>115539789

I just downloaded the “Kajabi” one. I signed in the same way as on the website, and all the same stuff is there - I can play all the MakingMusicFast vids and see all the comments etc. But now you have me so curious about the Kajabi Communities one!! 👀 It looks interesting. I’m gonna download it and see what it’s about…
