Here's the backing for this week's video. It doesn't really follow the original too closely. The main riff is just played, er, lots of times and then I go into a chorus towards the end.

There's an interesting octave bass part. And for the dub sound effects on the drums I used the Soundtoys Echo Boy plug-in, which is fantastic, and highly recommended to those of you into recording.

Enjoy playing along and making some crazy noises over the top of this.

Super! continuez comme cela Adrian. Enfin un guitariste qui nous parle punk, post punk, after punk, gothique, new wave... Merci

HauBaus! Thank you. I like the whisk with the ball bearings. I don't see that listed on Sweetwater Music (American Amazon for music gear). It looks like a modified balloon whisk. Did you modify that unit yourself or is it out of the box? I'm thinking of trying this with a French whisk. Do you think I should see if I can find something more Teutonic for Bauhaus? Hmmm Bauhaus... I have a little model of the Dessau Bauhaus building made of Legos, that might work.

Sick! I was fortunate enough to see Peter Murphy with David J in the PDX pre-covid, I put this on repeat to extend the mix like sister ray and improved some, fun and appreciate the percussive Halloween lore with this one.

Your music taste is beyond anything Else on YouTube. I bet we share 75 percent of our record collections! Bauhaus is fantastic, this is a great beginner-friendly Song!

tobi

Oh yeah i recently watched an old Video of yours where you actually asked for requests. My not unfitting request for the Halloween season would be more the damned(Plan 9 Channel 7 for example, i cant quite get the solo bits right, or anything from their magnificent black Album).

Toby

Yeah plan 9 channel 7 would be fantastic!

Great Idea to recommend the reading of this book, "feeding back". Very interesting talk with great guitarists.

Adrian, have you considered transcribin the bass and drum parts from your backing tracks? Even if you didnt go over it on your vids, it would be appreciated by all those bedroom dwelling one man banders out there. Cheers.

anyonecanplayguitar

Haha. Yes, I'm currently in talks with leading gear companies to get my own line of signature guitar whisks manufactured!

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, it's great to find so many people on here who share my taste in music! Until I started doing this I didn't think there would be much of an audience for this kind of thing, but I've definitely been proven wrong.

Yes, it's an and inspiring excellent book. I've actually exchanged a few emails with the writer David Todd - lovely guy, and very knowledgable about this kind of music.

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, if there's enough interest I'd certainly consider it. Obviously it would be quite time consuming to do properly, so I might not be able to do it with every track I look at. But for tracks with particularly notable bass or drum parts it might be worth doing. Will think about it!

Nicholas Gloyne

Hi Adrian, cool as ever. Bet you were tempted to sing! For the future with all the injustice & inequality about to ruin the UK how about some Manic Street Preachers - A Design For Life. Arpeggios & legato?

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, quite tempted! My Pete Murphy impression isn't bad, but not sure the world is ready for it yet. Very fond of the Manics - I know the track as I've taught it to quite a few private students over the years - so might see if I can work up a video on it. Certainly very apt right now.

Bauhaus is one of my favorite bands. The guitar parts of Terror Couple Killed Colonel always gets stuck in my head. Slice of Life would be great to learn on acoustic. I also really like David J's bass guitar in Slice of Life.

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, I was slightly surprised so many people enjoyed this video - obviously there are more Bauhaus fans out there than you might think. I'm definitely up for looking at more Bauhaus next year. I will make a note of your suggestions - great. Thanks!
