Hey big dog, we've got a CLASSIC (?) "Will covers a few different things that aren't worth talking about on their own". I start with an update on the Substack that genuinely made me angry, then I talk about his appearance on GPS w/ Fareed Zakaria, and finally I close it out with a look at this week's Overtime. My final conclusion? This guy's running out of shit to say!

Ziohran Mamdani's name isn't hard to say. I don't understand why people struggle with it unless it's on purpose. I guarantee Zakaria would have gotten it wrong too if he wasn't from Indian Muslim background himself. I'm not trying to say I'd rather live in a republican dominated state, but just looking at California, with Democrats running the state and having access to so much wealth to fund anything they want, it should be something akin to a utopia but it's not. It's not because of liberal policies. It's because Democrats just like Republicans have corporate and wealthy donors so they do not believe in or pursue an active role for the government in bringing down the cost of anything especially housing. We have massive poverty and inequality in California which affects everything from student school performance to crime. The high-speed rail project is a joke. The French company gave up and left, and has already finished building a high-speed rail line in Morocco. We do also have high taxes including sales tax which is a regressive tax. They also keep increasing the cost of bridge and other tolls. Our cities have so many vacant buildings. They could be seized by local or state government and use to create social housing that's free or very cheap. Once upon a time in this country we had a federal public housing program which was very successful for those who had access to it. The government needs to own housing to bring the prices down.

I recently moved to New Mexico because I couldn't afford the Seattle area any longer. We are poor here (largely rural, few urban centers), but it's beautiful and the sense of community in my (blue) town is palpable. Still, your point remains. Love your work! ❤️

💯 eminent domain should be aggressively used by progressive mayors and supposedly progressive governors to take over abandoned buildings when we have so many people without homes or those who can barely afford one

Why couldn't anyone score after a dozen innings of baseball? How is it possible for fatigued people to fail at the hardest thing in sports, hitting a baseball thrown by a professional picther? That irked me so much. I think we all know that Bill Maher is not an athlete or sports guy, but he's part owner of the Mets. He should understand some of the intricacies of baseball.

I can't get over that. Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson are some of the greatest athletes that ever lived. Both of them struggle to hit. It cannot be overstated how hard it is to hit baseballs at a professional level.

i remember visiting Chinatown and seeing these big old towers a block from the market. Hardly any unitswere occupied. Maybe its filled out now but it seemed really out of place

Daylight Savings Time is such a waste of time and it causes health problems. We need to get rid of it permanently. People can deal with less daylight. Oh well. It's health problems vs. some people's preference for more light https://www.psychiatrist.com/news/one-more-argument-against-daylight-saving-time/ God help me but I thought it was sort of funny when BM kept interrupting to say "I don't have kids" & "didn't go to prom". And I'm sorry but I think he's right about parents doing this to themselves. It's a choice to make. I respect some people have that calling. Will is right that life without kids is already stressful
