y’know i remember trying to avoid the incel stereotype back when I was writing/drawing moondancer but in retrospect I kinda wish i’d leaned into it a bit more

I mean, I leaned away from him being an actual incel because it just wouldn't make sense for a peaceful, egalitarian world of little horsies to produce a crazed misogynist. There's a "deleted scene" I cut where Moondancer would've made a move on Pandora and gotten really angry when she was confused and didn't reciprocate. I dropped it because it felt too incelly, too reminiscent of real world creeps, and I felt it would push Moony too far into unlikeable territory. Also, it was just melodramatic. Still, him being an random dumb little bitter incel in a magic girly horse world is pretty funny to think about

Moondancer was Big Mad that magic ability is unfairly parceled out at birth and Moondancer was angry that no amount of hard work on his end would ever bring him to the natural talent of beings like Pandora, Midnight Abyss, the princesses, etc. At least, that's what he assumed, and it of course made him bitter. He kinda forgot about the whole "friendship is magic" thing. Lil dumbass could've gotten all the magical power he wanted by just touching grass and going to the club

He only ends up with Zee in an alternate timeline where he never pursues dark magic. :( In the true pandoraverse timeline, he would've ended up disfigured and forever devoid of magic. But the aftermath of his attack on Equestria does open the door for him building and repairing many key relationships- eg. with Pandora, Cupcake, his moms Trixie and Maud, Duke Blueblood, and his half-sister Vogue.

Moondancer started getting popular with a certain demographic of guys online, and said guys loved to send me harassing and creepy messages and demands for Moondancer to get more spotlight, more wins, and to be more "alpha" and dominating, particularly against the female characters.
