I really don’t have enough drawings of honey being a big stupid lesbian

Sorry about the art slowdown this month, folks. Work has been a real drain. Fortunately I’ve got some art comin’ at you over the next few days. ;3 As always, thank you for your patience and support!

Honey meets Topher’s roommate/bang buddy, Mal. Mal is very warm and personable and has a habit of calling everyone ”baby”, which of course induces an immediate explosive crush in Honey’s dumb love-starved ass

edit: added the pancakes! Mal is a stellar cook and often volunteers to make free meals at Toffee’s church, where she’s a member (it’s also where she and Topher met). Those are cinnamon sugar swirl pancakes with vanilla bean icing. Do u see now why Honey’s pissed she lost Mal to fucking Topher, of all people

I'm sure this won't be for a while but I'm so excited to see who this bitchass lesbian ends up with LMAO

Nette Marie

But imagine Honey just being an absolute mess everytime she's around her. Once she leaves they both go "Yeah she's gay" cuz I'd imagine Honey being absolutely horrible at hiding it.

Silverwinds

Yeeees I love the gay panic!

QuietZen

Oooohhhh I so want Mal and Leah to meet with Honey around. Imagine that ENERGY 😳

RagingRiptide

I don’t blame you honey Mal is 🥰 😍

Biscuit

The way you drew Mal’s stomach pudge and rolls scratches my brain in all the right ways. Also how old is Mal and what’s her accent? Idk why my brain assumed she was in her early to mid 40s, maybe it’s mostly older southern women I see exacting that saying? Older buff black lady sounds like something Topher would rock with. Not my narrative to enact tho.

Robo87

I don’t think my sapphic ass could handle that much raw, feral beauty in one picture. I’d be on the floor swooning with Honey

Robo87

*shoves through crowd* I WANT MAL’S PANCAKES! I VOLUNTEER FOR TRIBUTE

Robo87

Tragic twist….next time Honey brings over her famous lemon bars as a thanks for the pancakes (and the way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach right), but…to Honey’s horror…Mal is allergic to lemons 😞

lopoddity

You’re close! :3 Mal is either in her late 30s or early 40s, compared to Topher, who’s like 35-37. Bad news for Honey, because Mal most certainly views her as a dumb little kid. Mal has a quiet, husky voice and uses a lot of slang, though her accent is more New Yorky, she’s from the FB equivalent of the Bronx. Mal also curses casually a LOT, though she’d probably make a mild effort to censor herself around Honey.

lopoddity

They’re cinnamon sugar pancakes with vanilla icing. Honey’s in for breakfast heaven!

lopoddity

You know that one scene where Judge Frollo got so consumed by horny catholic guilt for Esmeralda that he decided to burn down all of Paris? It’d be like that. Honey can’t be around that level of sapphic beauty without channeling her frustrations into a crime against humanity

Robo87

You never forget your first foodgasm

Robo87

Ok like we can all agree that Hellfire is a pretty terrible song about a deranged religious murderous narcissist with delusions of grandeur and a god complex the size of Texas singing about either forcing a woman to give in to his perversions or he’d ya know kill her and her entire people BUT good lord is it a BANGER

QuietZen

I was about to protest that 'pretty terrible song' but you came thru in the end 🤣🤣🤣

Is Honey in support of trans people? I believe in a previous post you said she is potentially unaware of her own brother being trans. If she isn’t accepting (which would unfortunately make sense with her upbringing and her brainwashing) how is she confronting that with now having crushes on two trans women? Does she know they are trans? As a trans person I’m curious how she would would move past that specific bigotry so she could potentially have an actual potential healthy relationship with Summer

Ren

Also I am in awe of mal she has me questioning my asexuality Lmaoo she’s gorgeous I love myself a strong curvy women who could curb stomp me with ease if so inclined

Syd D.

I can hear the kill bill sirens eminating from honeys brain

marsh_beast

For all Honey’s conservative-ness, she seems to (outwardly) accept trans people. As a transmasc nonbinary person, I’m curious as to how/why she feels that way?

D

im with Honey can Mal punch me in the face

D

(respectfully)

D

also jokes aside I hope comments like this (simptuous) are ok because truthfully I just want to support women’s wrongs

lopoddity

Honey isn’t supportive of trans people, she was raised in an insular, bigoted religious community that condemned queerness in all forms. Honey very much is still clinging to her childhood belief system, she’s just made an exception for herself, and others like her. She believes she is a good, modest, dutiful church girl, and thus her lesbianism is not a character flaw, but rather happenstance. Honey was taught growing up that gay people were unnatural and even evil, but she chooses not to believe this because she herself is gay. She must believe herself to be an exception to the rule, because doing otherwise means confronting the idea that her childhood community and entire belief system might be flawed, and Honey is NOT ready to do that. And so Honey has convinced herself that she’s “one of the good ones”. Other queer folk thought, the in-your-face ones, the kinksters and butch lesbians and leather daddies….their “lifestyle” is still unacceptable, in Honey’s eyes. They’re not “good”, like her. However is she going to get her community and parents not to hate her queerness, when she’s forever associated with THOSE people? Honey keeps away from these people and tries to seek out fellow good gays, and for this reason, she is painfully lonely. Honey is very opinionated when it comes to “acceptable” avenues of queerness, and so she is opinionated in trans people. She perpetuates the same views she was taught- that trans people are defying the natural order. Honey is surprisingly not openly hateful toward the idea of transgender individuals, she’s intrigued by the notion….in a way that’s very patronizing and dismissive. Honey was raised with strict gender norms and thus believes changing one’s gender is as impossible as a fish becoming a bicycle. Men and women are simply different, almost to the point of being separate species. Because of this, Honey does not feel threatened by trans people and feels no need to take any political or social action against them. Her idea of a trans person is that old painful joke caricature of a big hulking man in a dress, confused in his gender to the point of delusion. This is what Honey was taught trans people WERE. Unhappy, delusional outcasts, the butt of a cheap joke. This is why Honey is still operating under the impression that she’s never met a trans person. Summer, Topher, and Mal seem decent and well-adjusted enough, so she just assumed they were all cisgender. To discover that any of them are trans would be as startling to her as a smack in the face, and she’d likely react with disbelief, even refusal to believe it. None of them match the transphobic caricature she carries around in her head, how can they be transgender?? Summer is transgender and….funny? Charming, good-natured, attractive, even?? How?? Her brother CLAIMS he’s trans, but he’s…actually masculine! Not a confused girl at all!! No, it’s not possible, somebody is trying to trick her!! Honey would feel angry and embarrassed and foolish and probably say some very kneejerk, ignorant things. Things that Topher (and Toffee) will have absolutely no tolerance for. And she’ll storm off to nurse her hurt feelings and ruffled ego and eventually…eventually….begin to confront the idea that she was wrong. That her church was wrong, again. Was wrong the whole time- about her….about gay people…about trans people too, maybe? What else has she been wrong about…? I like to imagine after all this, Honey goes to find Topher and badger him into telling her his story, and she is shocked, horrified (relieved?) at how RELATABLE it is.

lopoddity

She doesn’t, at least not yet. Honey is very sheltered and naive. While she would never be cruel to someone to their face (her community taught that patronizing “love the sinner, hate the sin” pseudo-acceptance instead, where you’re decent to someone to their face and then secretly vote against their human rights), right now a lot of her pleasant attitude is predicated on the fact she doesn’t KNOW Summer, Topher, and Mal are transgender. Honey was taught growing up that trans people were mentally unwell and miserable, but Topher, Mal, and Summer are all quite well-adjusted, even happy and friendly. It doesn’t cross her mind that they could be transgender, even though none of these characters make it a secret that they are. Honey is a very unique kind of dumb. Honey, spotting the trans flag on Mal’s wall: Oh! You know, I’ve seen that flag around campus quite a lot, are there a lot of people here who immigrated from there? What country does it represent? Are you from there too, Mal? :3 Mal: ……*looks amusedly at the camera like bugs bunny*

knickknacks

How does Topher react to Honey's crush? (assuming he immediately picks up on it, because I would assume Honey is. awful at hiding it) Would he think it's funny- or perhaps a bit bitterly ironic, given the things you've said above about Honey's perspective on trans people? Or perhaps he would be the tiniest bit touchier with Mal just for the sake of grating on Honey.. Mal is absolutely stunning, also- I love her, holy cow

lopoddity

Oh all of the above. Topher indeed finds it amusing to see Honey act so doofy and twitterpated over a completely uninterested older woman. It's a side of Honey he's never gotten to see before- fawning, bashful, giggly, clumsy, awkward. Were the two of them closer, Topher might find it endearing. As it is, he mostly just gets to feel vindicated and smug because Honey, a so-called model gay, a sensible sapphic, a right-wing WLW, is so, SO very bad at actually talking to women. It's almost karmic. And yeah, he probably would be more openly touchy with Mal just to peeve Honey off, a sorta big brother nyah-nyah-I-have-something-you-don't kinda thing.

Journeyentails

Mal is literally one of my new favorites ohhhmygod hello gorgeous

Mars

id be tearing the FUCK out of those pancakes, i cannot blame honey at all

QuietZen

WHY IS THERE NO RECIPE WITH THAT PICTURE?!?!?!? Love it tho! ;)

Angsty Ram

Oh now I’m hungry, why do you draw food that makes my mouth water so bad???!!

Dean

I would die to eat those pancakes, and I mean that cuz I'm allergic LMAO

lopoddity

….Right up til Mal smacks him and reminds Topher he isn’t exactly a casanova himself. The first night they hung out he sung her a raspy cover of Take Me to Church like a dork ass fuckboi. To which Topher grins and reminds her she STILL dragged him to her bed after that, so who’s the real dork ass here

knickknacks

Those pancakes look heavenly, goodness me- I'm having fervent mental images of Honey trying to talk to Mal about her own baking/try to impress her with lemon bars or something. kghfdgj I'm looking through some more of the comments in here and wondering. You mentioned some stuff about how realizing that people like Summer/Topher/Mal are happy and well-adjusted with their identities would force Honey to potentially start reevaluating some of the things she had just taken to be right/potentially asking Topher about it- would that in turn be kind of. a start to Topher warming up to his sister? I imagine his bitterness toward her and everything she stands for of course wouldn't disappear quickly, but- would seeing that she is confused and wanting to understand/starting to question what she's been taught get him to start coming around a bit, too? Or would he be more. annoyed because it's not His job to hold her hand and walk her through unlearning all the problematic stuff that she grew up embroiled in?

knickknacks

I just choked on air, good lord Topher I kind of love that though, the image of him being. Like. Pretty boy who sleeps around, prides himself on his removal from romantic attachments, and also is a massive freaking dork about some things/not quite as cool and aloof as he makes himself out to be. Silly dog. I love him

lopoddity

Oh hey, I literally just got done answering a similar question on the Couch Cuddles post. I recommend checking it out! :3 You're correct in that Topher feels it's not his responsibility to teach Honey how to be an actually decent person. It's why, beyond simply antagonizing her, he has yet to have a deeper conversation with her about their shared background, their dad, and the belief system that was taught to both of them growing up. He doesn't want to tell her he's trans and then have to field a billion ignorant, insensitive questions and assumptions from her. But....yeah, if he and Honey were to actually have a deeper conversation, (provided Topher is in a good mood and feeling patient enough to explain gender/identity concepts to his verrrry uninformed little sister), he might juuust be a little affected at the fact that Honey's ignorance is not willful, she does genuinely want to learn and IS actually capable of extending empathy to people besides herself. Eg. Honey comes to accept Topher being trans quite quickly, because 1.) she comes to understand that while she and he are different, at their core they are painfully alike, and 2.) This is all being transgender is?? Someone just adopts a new set of pronouns and begins presenting themselves the way they wish? Why did her community say this was evil? Who does this hurt? Isn't freedom of self-expression a basic right?? Honey gets outright angry on Topher's behalf, and Toph is pleasantly surpised by it.

Murkydepths

Kind of surprised to hear Honey would be so supportive with just a conversation, some of her other pieces she seems a lot more aggressive/defensive with her beliefs. Like the 'triggered liberal?' one or her at a anti-lbgt march sassing Summer. Is she evolved to be more on the naive side or have I just been reading her character wrong this whole time? xD

lopoddity

Honey doesn’t change from one conversation, the conversation with Topher is ongoing. Honey’s belief system is indeed rooted more in naivety and ignorance than genuine malice. Like many people, her bigoted views begin to shift once she actually interacts with the marginalized groups she was taught were evil, and learns that they are simply people like her. It is hearing different perspectives and having her opinions challenged that begin to slowly chip holes in the brick wall that is Honey’s conservative worldview, until the whole thing crumbles and collapses. Certainly not every bigot can be convinced to change, nor is anybody obligated to extend patience to a bigot- but many of Honey’s core values (eg. the importance of liberty and freedom from government overreach) are conveniently able to be shifted to fuel a more progressive mindset (eg. Honey can logically conclude that no matter her own (uninformed) opinions on trans people, they are hurting no one and should no be more subject to government-perpetuated moral policing than anybody else). Basically Honey is a conservative than begins leaning libertarian, before ultimately tossing all that out a window and rebuilding her belief system from the ground up, with a focus on compassion and understanding.

Your art of food items is delightful (and they all look scrumdidlyumptious).
