Hola Familia!

I did an easy week of teaching masterclasses for one high school this week after coming back from the family reunion and I am feeling okay! I thought I would be exhausted! I am looking forward to this weekend’s reactions. It looks like I’ve got a lot of variety!

We did it! We got through the “ENERGETIC” mini-album together and it was a fun ride! I loved every single song on there, but I think “CAGE” ended up being my favorite. Anyway, we continue our journey through the Conqueror album with “The Dragon Cries.” For years I have had many people tell me that I needed to check out this song and now here we are! Let’s get it!

🔹Yes - “Roundabout”

When I saw this one coming up, I thought I didn’t know anything from YES. I looked them up on Google just to see if there was anything I might know, and it turns out that I have heard one song by them on one of my favorite video games growing up. I loved playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and I used to drive around the cityscape listening to Flash FM in-game and hearing many songs from the 80’s. This was the first time I had heard “Owner of a Lonely Heart.” I have never heard “Roundabout” so I am excited to check it out. Also...this band has been around for what seems like FOREVER, so we are going to dive into some history with them!

🔹So I’m a Spider, So What?, Aoi Yuki - “Ganbare Kumoko-chan” (Hang in there, Kumoko-chan)

When I see that name Aoi Yuki I think of Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries. Her career is so much more than this though. She began as a child actor at 4 years old and then broke out into voice acting in 2003. She is also a singer who started releasing singles since 2010! In this reaction today, we are checking out her voice acting and singing combined. I’m excited for this! Also...is “So I’m a Spider, So What?” a good anime? It looks interesting to me.

After a long week of getting back into teaching and coming home from an...interesting family reunion, I am ready to relax and listen to the final part of the acoustic okyuji. I plan on crackin’ open a cold one and REALLY enjoying this one. I hope you’ll join me!

I’m not going to lie to you guys. I’m still coming down from the family reunion. Is that weird? I have moments from it playing through my mind every time I have a moment to just...not think? Is that good or bad?! I have a full day of teaching next week with 2 high school flute sectionals. I am hoping I can mentally survive teaching music from 11AM to 4PM everyday!
