I'm sorry if the heat got to me in this video. This was my last video to record and I honestly was starting to feel loopy. Sitting here typing this a feel loopy. Good news though: my mini air conditioner to hold me over is here!

This song sounds great live. I like that it's got that BM sound, but it's context makes it different.

Also..."Flying High" is a jam!

Many Bothans died to bring us the Flying High recording

Kanami didn't just "have a hand in writing" the song, she fully wrote it, the only name credited for composition is "BAND-MAID" which basically means Kanami lol, Tony Visconti did only the production (in which he is credited with band-maid so it is co-produced by both)

I like the Dragon Cries and Flying High, haven't heard a Band Maid song I skip past. They have so many great songs, and when a band comes out with new music, they want to play those tracks - the casualties become tracks that may not be fan faves or the band wants to put on the shelf for a while. Freedom would be an example, played a lot then not often - 3 times this year, most recently today at the Osaka Gigantic Music Festival. On a side note, don't forget to get your ticket(s) tomorrow.

The Dragon Cries is a lot better live! Let's keep Flying High with Band-Maid!

I love how Saiki's and Miku's voices sync up!

Tony worked with Saiki and Miku on the vocals and helped production. Kanami wrote the music!

Love Saiki's grit in her vocal in the last part!

Dragon Cries has really grown on me. When Conqueror first came out, I was not disappointed, but a tad underwhelmed. Much of it is a bit more mid tempo than their previous work. but over the years and especially thanks to the Christmas Acoustic, I have come to truly Love this album from start to finish. But one song really grabbed me from the first listen and that was Flying High. Groovy, Bluesy, hard rock badassery! Instant Love Po! Flying High and Chemical Reaction are criminally underplayed and underappreciated. Sai-chan needs to put them in the playlists! Back to back if possible. Flying High followed by CR! Thanks NittPicc! Good luck, stay hydrated and don't die Po! You have a date to keep on October 9th!!

A tiny bit of background - in Drive Time's massive Band-Maid database, I found this unidentified interview snippet: Kobato: ...after the completion of The Dragon Cries, we mixed Track 12 Flying high again to match its vibe. Kobato: It’s a good song, so we discussed with a mixing engineer to mix it again with a little more US rock feel. Saiki: The engineer was surprised by the data, like “does he use this in this way?!” Kobato: Tony-san kindly taught us how to do it because he wanted us to do it also in Japan. Flying high is a cool song with a bluesy vibe.

I think CQ was a figurative victim of covid. They only played 3 or 4 shows where CQ was the most recent release. By the time touring ramped back up, Unleash was the newest release. Average live plays per song for Unleash is 50 and CQ is 35 despite Unleash being over two years younger. That's with Endless Story and Glory becoming semi-staples with over 100 plays each which drops the average of the other 13 songs to 22.

Covid and the lockdown were a crusher machine for bands. Kanami emerged from it composing like there was no tomorrow. Unseen World and Unleash arrived so quickly that Conqueror didn't even have time to settle in. 2020 would have been its year of live performances, culminating at Budokan, but it all vanished. Band Maid's music probably carries a scar, and that scar is Unseen World. A perfect, precious scar that tells a story about life, just as all perfect scars has to do.

- Flying High is one of my absolute favourites. - I have a strong attachment to the whole Conquer album because it was the first new album after I found the Maids, and what a great album it is! - It is stinking hot and humid here in Incheon, where I am for the month. I made the mistake of exercising outside and almost got too dehydrated doing so…
