This is what happens when you mix K-Pop and K-Rock have a musical baby.

It makes sense for a voice like Siyeon would fit in to a new sound. Her pop style singing really matches the rock sound. I wasn't fully expecting that, but now it makes me wonder if more K-Pop singers should try it out!

We were not expecting the bonus deep dive :) ... Dreamcatcher has always leaned into rock more than many K-pop groups. Evidenced by their close relationship with Rolling Quartz through the years. RQ covered their song Goodnight and have recently done a collab with Siyeon individually. Remember that Jayoung is a vocal coach for many young K-Pop singers as a side hustle. This does seem like a natural fit CRKT did visit Detroit but I did not go. I listened to a few songs from their catalog and honestly this was the only one I really liked ... maybe once their catalog gets bigger. I am seeing more of a transition to rock in Korea now. Hopefully its a trend. We have listened to Rolling Quartz, now ChRocktikal, SENA and DIH, Walking After U, and The Fix. More established acts like Kardi and Synsnake. They do music well there ...

There is QWER (with another Siyeon on vocals) and SENA's new band HETEETH

I was going to mention Heteeth as I hope to have NittPicc react to something by them. I have actually listened to more covers of QWER than the band themselves ...

You call it a pop singing style, and it is, but there's a lot of sexy confidence and attitude - the quiet parts that are mostly vocal fry, the breathy parts, the diva-like belty parts - so of course it works well for rock. She's got swagger. I never got into kpop (the bands are talented, but I don't like how manufactured they are, and they seem to combine all the things I hate about modern pop) but this is something I could listen to.
