Hi! Here, without any ads or host reads or bugs or whatever, is the episode of Rewinder that's publishing on YouTube later today.

It's about the 2013 Wimbledon men's singles final, when Andy Murray fiiiiiiiiinally stared down a real, match-point-to-win-it chance to win his first 'don, and Great Britain's first 'don in like a million years. I like making tennis stuff and I'm happy to report we've got more tennis stuff coming soon.

Shoutout to freelance editor/lovely human being Brian Torres for the edit on this one.

Enjoy! Have a great day!

I am stoked for more tennis stuff in the future. Lifelong fan. After this 2013 moment, Murray went on to have the best year of his career in 2016, during which he won Wimbledon AND Olympic gold, finishing as the year-end #1 ranked player. To date, he is the only player to have won multiple Olympic gold medals in singles tennis. We love Andy.

I have vague memories of this match. I didn't really care about the drought myself given I'm American but I felt so sorry for Andy, who for so many years had the full support of the crowd as the local British hero... as long as everything went well. Whenever things went badly, he was suddenly seen as Scottish and not British. It felt like a fifth set. You got the sense that if he lost the third set the entire crowd was going to implode and Djokovic was going to rally and that would be that. It was extremely lucky, in that regard, that he got to play the Olympics there. It basically gave him a practice run at winning a tournament on that court without the huge burden of The British Drought At Wimbledon Men's Singles. And he DID win. Which must have helped his confidence immensely in 2013.

Fantastic video, that match point gets me emotional every time. For those who weren’t there, however bad you think the pressure Andy was under to win in 2013 was, I promise it was twice as bad. They played a video on the broadcast before every single one of his matches that mixed dramatic shots of the trophy with clips from an interview he gave about how losing the 2012 final gave him literal nightmares. He’s gone on record saying he didn’t even really celebrate the win because he was too stressed to be happy, even after the fact. He’s my favorite player ever so I’m biased, but I always say it’s the most pressure any tennis player has ever been under.
