AGI Stories content almost always appears on Patreon first, in advance of all other platforms. You get it first!

Good Morning

There is a plan today. It’s Wednesday, the middle of the week. Today will be mostly like yesterday, just 24 hours later.

If I get done today what I want to get done, Sasha has lined me up to head over to the shelter tomorrow. Not really the most visually exciting content, but it has meaning, at least to me.

I’ll add a quick comment about #giveback days. When I do those, I set my diary entry on Patreon to be FREE and PUBLIC so anyone can see what’s going on. I feel like showing people what I’m doing is part of the AGI Stories mission. I like to think that, by modeling the idea of helping others, something good might come of it.

As for today, I’m going to dig in, head down, and see how much I can blast through. Quality first, of course, but today, I’m going to work on quantity!

Late this afternoon, Geoni, Sasha, and I are having a girls-night that will be dull and boring to a lot of people. At some point yesterday, we got to talking about Panda Express. We are setting out on a quest across the causeway to the nearest location for dinner.

More to come later today, so watch for it.

Future Needs by Allen Geven

Hello, everyone. Some of you might know me, but a lot of you probably don’t. I’m Ailana’s dad.

I’m pretty sure she mentioned that I wanted to talk to Josh about some business issues. No one has actually said it, but he’s kind of the CEO of AGI Stories LLC, the company they formed a while back.. Josh knows business, and he had a big hand in getting me and my mother moved down here from Indiana.

That’s what I needed to talk about.

“So, she’s 88 now. She can do the stairs up to the 2nd floor, but… she doesn’t. I don’t think she even knows it, but she’s become a prisoner on the 2nd floor.”

Josh nodded. “I see where you’re going. You need to relocate.”

“Yeah… someplace close. With an elevator.”

“I’ll call the realtor and get the ball rolling.”

Then I told him why I wanted him involved. “She’s got the equity from the house in Crown Point. That’ll get us in the door, and between my salary and her benefits, we can make up the difference. Ailana owns the unit we live in… I’ve been making the payments… I don’t want to leave her hanging…”

Josh was already nodding. “Okay, I see your concern. I’ll pull some numbers together, talk to the others… Let me just say this… You don’t have to worry.”

“I don’t?”

Josh looked off into the distance, then shrugged. “Just between you and me, okay?”

I nodded.

The rest of this Chapter is exclusive to Patreon.

“My family is old-money Chicago. Going back to 1880s… when the prince of the railways married the princess of the ironworks… next generation leveraged all that into banking and printing… so on… My father started diversifying right before I was born… tech stocks, insurance companies, pharmaceuticals. Trust me that I won’t let anyone do without, including you and your mom.”

“You’re serious?”

“Completely. Geoni knows all the details, of course. Clay and Sasha know how things are. Ailana is aware, but she doesn’t ask for any details. I’d guess Jason has surmised pretty accurately where things stand… I don’t like to make it a point I stand on. It’s just there… I was born into it, and it gives me the freedom to help others, write, and support what Ailana’s doing. I’ve been with her since last year in Egypt.”

I guess hearing him say he was born into it stirred something in me.

Next thing I heard myself say was, “I’ll never be able to give Ailana anything like that… I guess eventually, she’ll inherit whatever condo we end up buying.”

Josh didn’t let a blink pass before he responded. “You’ve already given her something more valuable, something I’d say I’d have been better having…”

“What’s that?”

“Time. Love. Attention. And she took all those things and it created her character. She’s who she is because of how you raised her for 20 years.”

I let that sink in, and Josh seemed to know. We stood quietly for a few seconds.

“Okay… I’ll call the realtor and get the ball rolling. Don’t worry about AGI or Ailana or anyone else. Trust me… I’ll get you and your mom set up and everything will be just fine.”

I thanked him and headed back to work.. And I’m trusting him that it will all work out.

Funny, though… As much as he said that the time, love, and attention I gave Ailana were important back then… Well, the time, love, and attention she’s showing me now means the world to me.

So, I’m starting to think Josh was right about that.

Good Night

So, yeah… big changes on the horizon! Dad and Grammy are moving out!

I got back from Panda Express and Dad waved me into his place. “So, I talked to Josh… Mother just isn’t willing to use the stairs anymore. She could… but she won’t…”

She’s like that. She lets things that are a little challenging become monumental problems.

Granted, she’s 88, and falling down the stairs could be tragic. I don’t disagree with Dad at all, but I also know she blows things out of proportion.

So, the plan is in place, and Josh is helping work out the details, but the idea is to find either a ground level home, or more likely, a unit in one of the high-rise buildings nearby, somewhere with an elevator.

More on that as details become available!

Panda Express was fun, for sure! Definitely a good time!

Now, Jason and I are going to catch up on his and Josh’s work this week. They are about to the place where they’ve sold all the pieces they created between going to the Everglades and now. It’s impressive how they have taken all their images and notes and packaged them into so many different articles.

That sort of hints that there needs to be another… something… to refill their notes and images folder. Alternatively, they could do some “holidays at home” bits.

Again, I’ll fill you in as details become decided.

That should be enough for now. I hope everyone had a great day.

May you find joy in the unknown margins of your future, the expected but not known. And may all your future surprise you with great blessings.

Good night.

Be your best you!

Ailana. Yes, I also think highlighting your #giveback days can inspire others to do the same. I continue to salute you for having this quality. Allen. The time, love, and attention you gave Ailana back then helped shape her into the values driven person she is today. So, well done, sir. I'm sure you and the team can find a good solution. Ailana. Glad Panda Express fit the bill and a good time was had by all. IMHO, a word of caution about high rise versus ground level. When the elevator is broken, even the stairs can't always help, and your loved one is a prisoner . Memphis has had two such high profile cases of this in the past year. Ground level. My two cents there. and we'll stay tuned for the "next details". Thank you for the updates. Good night to you.
