Good Morning
We were in the Highlander before sunrise. In the booth at Denny’s shortly afterwards. Now… heading to “Savannah’s Charm” for our photoshoot!
I don’t really know how to express my expectations. On one hand, this is going to be really mundane. The job description was pretty specific and honestly, it's just a container of salt. The models and the modeling are secondary.
On the other hand, this is our second shoot as a self-contained crew. The first one was the lotion, and we sort of winged it quickly. This time, we set out to establish a process we can replicate on short notice. We sort of developed a what-to-pack, what-to-do-when, and how-to-do-it process we think we can use going forward.
Of course, there will be adjustments. So this shoot is important as a proof of process and to reveal what needs to change.
So, I’ll share some photos midday and a few reflections. Don’t be disappointed! I hope I haven’t hyped this up so much that pictures of salt containers feel like a letdown!
See you soon.

Sea Salt
We can still see land if we look the right way. But the job description wanted the ocean and the horizon. No land.
So, I think what they do is take sea water, filter it a few times, then use some sort of solar evaporator.
I know it has a good taste! Used it on a salad and baked potato (microwave, but you know what I mean).
Our process worked pretty well. I should have done my nails last night, but I was able to change to the “natural white nails” called for in the job spec while we got out of the marina. (I’ll change back to red at some point!)
Shooting in daylight has some challenges with lighting, but we had photo reflectors (you can search them up on Amazon or Google if you want to see) and diffusers. That was well-planned, and it worked.
Wardrobe changes went mostly as expected. But… Since we, the models (along with Josh), were also the reflector holders, there were some delays. Nothing terrible. Just a few minutes lost while wardrobe changes were taking place.
Overall, we covered everything. Clay observed that doing triple duty as models, grips, and assistants worked, but there was a certain awkwardness at times…
“Not everyday you see a barefoot girl in a spaghetti strap sundress dragging a camera bag across the deck of a yacht.”
We made it work. Geoni thought a fourth model in the mix would have been better. “If Kirina were here, it would add another set of hands and give more time for wardrobe changes. Four models in rotation, not three.”
We had decided not to call her, this time, since it wasn’t what she agreed to (SwimFit) and since we were in the learning process of how to do this. So, there’s something for the future…
As for the future… I’ll close this post out now. See you tonight!
Good Night
Being flexible is a virtue, right? We got everything broken down and packed up from the photoshoot, then we all settled down in the salon. We were ready for a late lunch, and started making plans. Then Josh suggested we just stay out to sea for the night and go back to the marina in the morning.
Geoni had a slight issue with the idea.
“I don’t have any pajamas on board.” Her objection didn’t change anyone’s mind, especially Josh’s.
Sasha laughed, looked at me, then back at her. “Pajamas are over-rated! A la sans! Go for it!”
Josh said he had a t-shirt in one of the drawers and Geoni said she’d be fine one way or the other. (We all have left a few things aboard—things we brought on earlier, but didn’t use, so they are clean and stowed in the stateroom lockers.)
So, we had a great afternoon looking at the pictures Jason took. We reviewed the process and edited the list of things to-do for the next job. I think we all learned from the day.
As I said, overall, everything worked out pretty well. We all went to our staterooms satisfied, looking forward to the next opportunity.
So, with that, I’ll wrap up this diary entry.
May the preparations you make prove themselves to be effective when time puts them to the test.
Good night.
Be your best you!
