Chapter 30: TEAM MEETING by Emma Knox

Friday! I know for you that worked all week, the weekend means a time to relax and rest. Well, at least that’s true for Merritt, Hannah, and all the other of my friends.

Today’s my third day at work at New Hope Church. It’ll only come to twelve hours total, and I don’t know if I said before, but it’s minimum wage, so my take-home will be around $190.00.

Honestly, with Pay It Forward Society giving me a place to live (and health insurance) all I have to spend it on is food and clothes, I guess. So, it’s plenty. I’ll come back to The Society in a second.

Speaking of clothes, I got a new outfit for today from the thrift shop. I had the leggings, but I got this pull over blouse and shoes, plus there’s a cardigan sweater hanging on my chair to go over it. The blouse has a little snag down near the bottom on the side, but nobody will notice. The shoes don’t hardly even have the soles scuffed! I think it will look nice, plus be comfortable.

Back to being in The Society… All that still feels a little strange! I know they want us to raise awareness and do humanitarian and conservation work. But it sure seems like they’re doing an awful lot for us in return! I guess if it weren’t for them, I’d still be back in Mississippi working shifts at Sonic. I’m just trying to say I’m real grateful!

Rebecca texted us all and said we needed to have a meeting tomorrow morning. I guess we’ll get some instructions about whatever we’re supposed to do next.

It sure was something—going out to Colorado for the first time. I’m looking forward to whatever comes up next time.
