ON THE HORIZON by Jordan Warner

I can’t deny the fact that it’s probably still too warm for me to be in this sweater! It’s in the 60s on the way to the mid 70s!

Come on! It's the middle of November already. I’d kinda like to wear my cute fall clothes!

I am at U of M just leaving the office of Dr. White, who runs my senior project. Basically, I’m done. Just need to wait a few weeks and get my diploma!

But, while I was there, a thing happened… Very, very surreal!

I was sitting outside his office with this guy… a little older and very handsome. Just saying… 

Dr. White came in with another professor. “Hey Jordan… Carter… Something came up… give me fifteen minutes or we can reschedule.”

“I’ll wait,” I said.

“I’m very early,” the handsome man whose name seemed to be Carter added. “No problem.”

Dr. White and the other professor went into his office, then handsome Carter looked at me and smiled. “Jordan Warner?”

I sort of balked, then replied, “Yes… that’s right.”

He offered to shake my hand and of course I accepted.

“Carter Ellis. I’m going to work for your company starting December. Looking forward to it.”

“My company?”

“ClearStream, right?”

“Oh, yeah… Carter Ellis… I know who you are, now. Wow… You’re the first to say it like that. I still think of it as Michael’s company.”

“It’s an LLC, and you’re a member… Maybe it's time to think differently…”

So, I had my meeting and as I was coming out, he was going in. He said he was looking forward to starting working with “you” and I took that to mean “us.”

But wow… the idea that I have a company… It made me feel… I don’t know… proud? Terrified? Grown-up? Now, I need my diploma to go with it!

Mind. Blown.
