GOOD MORNING
Good morning everyone! I started the Keurig, doubled back for a bathrobe, ran a brush through my hair and now it’s time to start today’s diary!
To be honest, today feels like the storm before the calm. (Yes, I know that’s backwards!)
The moving van arrived while the Keurig was still sputtering and doing that last gasp thing it does. I just heard Micah’s truck leave the garage. Sasha and Clay already have their bags in the Highlander (Jasmine will drop them at the airport.) And I’m expecting some construction guys to show up any minute now to start on Phase II of the remodel.
Let’s figure a few hours for the movers to get everything cleared out, then Sasha and Clay head to the airport. Behind, they leave the steady rhythm of construction work—power saws, hammers, and cordless drills all working out a melody of reconstruction.
And, I’m looking forward to settling into that chorus with my laptop and some big ideas! I already grabbed a shirt off the top of the laundry basket to rewear for today. The laptop is on the charger, so I can move it wherever inspiration leads me.
So, are you ready? Shall we just dig in and get some work done today?

MAKING MONEY
Nothing overly glamorous is going on here, right now. Edits.
I still have some of those Everglade articles shopped out to different on-line content sources. I got a query from one asking if I could cut one asking if I could cut one down by about a third, which isn’t as easy as you’d think. I had ChatGPT take a crack at it, so now, I’m going back and fleshing out the most important ideas.
Such is the life of a writer.
About an hour ago, the moving van drove off, then a few minutes later, Jasmine drove off with Sasha and Clay. Of course, there was a goodbye moment! I put on some flip-flops and went down.
When I was saying goodbye to Clay and Sasha, I asked Jasmine if she wanted to come up for lunch, so that’s now the plan. When she gets here, I’ll ask her if she has time to look over how I submit my different writing jobs, just to make sure she’s in the loop on that.
Now, I suppose, begins a couple of days of steady work. Jason will be back on Wednesday, so I told Jasmine maybe we could get him to do some practice photography work with her.
I guess that’s about all for now. I’ll be back later, so see you then!
CHANGE OF PLAN
Stand by! Everything is about to get crazy!
Sasha just called from the airport. “Ailana… hold on, I’m adding Jasmine.”
“Hello?” Jasmine said.
Sasha just started talking. “Jasmine, I just texted you a phone number.”
“Just got it.”
Sasha went on. “It’s Naomi Prior. She’s in a bind and needs some photography and modeling.”
I said, “What’s up?”
“She had a little job set up, but the photographer is… um… busy reviewing his last meals as they… reemerge.”
“Yuck,” Jasmine replied.
“She needs some shots for… like yesterday… Christmas newsletter is the urgent thing. But, she has some add-on jobs, too.”
“Jason will be back Wednesday,” I said.
“If we’re going to book this job, he needs to be on location by Tuesday night. You, too.”
“Location?” I asked.
Sasha explained everything. The newsletter is for Big Mountain Ski Resort in Whitefish, Montana. They want basic look-how-awesome-we-are shots. The first add-on is for a product that keeps ski goggles from fogging up. More basic product and model shots. The last add-on is for a hotel. A few more look-shots and a few model-on-site shots.
“The pay,” Sasha added, “is scale, but Naomi has two rooms comped for Tuesday through Thursday. Get there Tuesday, work Wednesday, play Thursday, then home on Friday.”
I then said, “Jasmine and I can share a room.”
Sasha paused. “Yeah… she actually should go, right?”
“Absolutely,” I replied.
We added Jason to the call and Sasha told Jasmine to get started on booking flights. I told Jason I’d pack all the photo gear.
By the time the call ended, we had a plan in place. Sasha wished us luck and said she had to get to her flight.
I’m sure I’ll have more to say later, so watch for it!
GOOD NIGHT
If you read my afternoon post, you know… The plan has changed! Jasmine, Jason, and I are heading to Whitefish, Montana for three nights starting tomorrow.
We fly out in the morning and will be back home on Friday. Jason will fly separately going out and then fly back with us on Friday.
Jasmine said she felt like she had been tossed into the deep end of the pool. “And… just so you know, I haven’t learned to swim yet! So, that’s how this feels, right now!”
“You booked the tickets?”
She nodded.
I nodded back. “Everything else can be worked out as we go. No worries.”
We talked about packing then realized we had some winter coat issues, so I said, “Okay, I’m still digging through camera gear, but I already have some ski stuff in my closet. So, call Jason and get his sizes. Then Amazon some NorthFace coats, hats, and ski-pants for the two of you directly to the hotel for Tuesday delivery.”
Jasmine balked a little. “That’s going to be hundreds of dollars…”
I nodded. “They’ll last for years and years. This probably won’t be our last trip into the snow.”
“So… just order gear?”
“I’ll give you the Amazon Prime account login.”
“Sasha already did that.”
I smiled. “Of course, she did!”
Jasmine got quiet for a moment, then said, “Ailana, I don’t know how to ski. Or model. Do I really need to go? I mean, I want to go, but am I going to be helpful?”
I didn’t hurry to answer. “You will be more than helpful. And photography is magic. You can just wear the ski gear and be standing… snap the shot and it looks like you’re skiing.”
I told her about a shoot where I stood on top of a ladder and was shot from the waist up. No one knew the ladder was there.
“I see what you mean,” she replied. “So… okay… I’ll do my best.”
“I know you will.”
So, friends, it looks like the AGI team has a little job ahead of us, and I hope you’ll be going along with us!
May you find your own way to be part of the big plan, doing what you can with what you have to see that dreams are accomplished.
Good night.
Be your best you!
