GOOD MORNING

It’s me. Seriously. I know this is a big departure from my typical “good morning” attire, but it is very intentional.

We have what everyone is calling the jeans photo shoot today. This outfit is strategic.

My years of modeling taught me that time is money, especially if you’re paid by poses, not hours. Once on set or on location, it’s best if the transition from getting there to having your makeup done and being in wardrobe is as short as possible.

Wardrobe today is “ribs down,” so with the jeans, we’ll be wearing white bandeau tops—I had some in several sizes from ages past in a plastic bin. So, the only thing standing between me and jumping into an outfit for my first shot is this zipper and a little gravity.

Dress off. Bandeau on. Jeans on. Maybe shoes. Then on set.

We should be able to go fast since it’s just the legs and feet today. Hair and makeup won’t even be a consideration for today’s shoot.

So I’m ready and waiting.

Jasmine is tracking the shipment and says it’s at the airport being loaded onto a courier van. So, we’re standing by!

Well, this year of changes has added one more thing to my list. Today, I will become a fashion model.

I’m in South Padre Island, in a hotel in a conference room that is set up as a photo studio. I’m modeling jeans for AGI.

Not these jeans. Ailana Geven provided the top for the photo shoot. These jeans are mine.

The jeans we’re modeling are, according to Jasmine Banks, out for delivery. They were supposed to be here by now.

I think I’m the most upset about it. Ailana and Jason are more upset that they didn’t think through how we can change pants while all in the same room.

The working plan is that, with three of us modeling, one of us will hold up a sheet, and Jason promises not to turn around. Honestly, I think their worries are misplaced.

There is a deadline, but Jason said, “Well, they shipped the pants. It’s their deadline. Jasmine has texted that we are in the studio waiting and they said ‘okay,’ so all we can do is wait.”

Eli came to visit for a couple of hours, and he’s sort of excited by the whole scene.

He said, “I’ve never even known a professional model before—much less dated one!”

I really liked how that sounded!

I’m sure there will be an update once we get done—or at least nearly done. Watch for it.

JEANS, JEANS, JEANS

We are about 75 percent done with the modeling, but I thought I’d pose for a check-in picture. This first image isn’t part of the job—just a shot for this diary post.

If you’re wondering what our backdrop system looks like when it’s set up, I have an image showing that at the end of the set.

The rest of the shots are a few from the actual job. You should be able to tell which of us is the model because you know us, but the point is the product, not who is wearing it.

So Kirina mentioned earlier that Jason and I forgot to plan for how we would change pants. In truth, if we’d discussed it beforehand, we could have agreed to wear sports briefs or something like that and not worried about it.

But we didn’t discuss it beforehand, and out of respect, it seemed like we needed to come up with something. I went to the front desk and asked for a sheet.

It worked out fine. We are constantly refining the process and getting better.

Jasmine talked to Sasha, and they set up a project folder and made a file for photo sessions. She’s going to add “privacy screen” to the list of things to consider.

If time hadn’t been a factor, we could have rented a room and gone back and forth. That would have worked. Jasmine said it was pretty excessive, though—that we managed with a blanket over her head on the trail outside Denver.

We didn’t have a detailed shot list for accessories, so we packed up a lot of shoes and worked through them as needed. And if you’ve seen ads for jeans, you know bare feet are frequently used, so that happened.

Overall, things have gone very well. We’ve worked quickly and efficiently, and should make the goal time.

I want to brag a little. Not on me, but on us. We came together quickly to pull this off. A few bumps? Yes, but we did it.

And we hope this sets the tone for many more opportunities in the future!

GOOD NIGHT

Here we are at the end of Thursday, and it’s time to say good night. Jason and I actually just got here after wrapping things up from the shoot.

We’re going to DoorDash some sandwiches, mostly for convenience and to save time.

Naomi saw the proofs and said they were perfect. She said she’d text us to let us know what the client thinks. I think I have a pretty good idea that they’re going to love them.

Somewhere in this whirlwind of recent modeling adventures, I feel like I’ve lost sight of our trip to St. Croix! We leave Saturday.

Jasmine told me today that she’s all-but packed. I haven’t even started. Maybe I’ll just unload my bikini drawer into a carry-on bag and call it a day!

Tempting, but… I’ll get busy tomorrow.

But now, rumbling stomachs are telling us it’s time to bring this post to an end.
