Chapter 18: I’M BACK by Emma Knox

First off, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you and everyone around you feel blessed and joyful.

Well, you know I’m starting classes at Kingsborough Community College, so I’ve been brushing up by looking over my old high school notes. The title of today’s post has double meaning! And I did that on purpose.

I’m back from church. It’s cold here in NYC today, right around freezing. Me and Hannah thought some coffee would be nice before we get on with whatever we’re doing today.

I’m also back from St. Louis, where I got to have Christmas with my dad in a hotel. He’s working on the river on barges, and they happened to be docked nearby for Christmas. Truth be told, he didn’t look real good. He looked tired. He said it was hard work, and most of the crew was ten years younger than him, but he said not to worry and that he was fine.

I’ll be thinking about that.

Another thing I’m thinking about is the Christmas party! It was really fun, all in all. But I sure got embarrassed when I stood under the mistletoe!

Addison came up pointing and making a scene. She kissed my cheek, then grabbed the nearest guy—Noah—to kiss me, too. Then she took my place, kissed Noah… and then…

After Noah kissed my cheek, I thought it would only be fitting if I kissed Merritt, so I hurried to him and kissed him. I guess I wanted to make sure things stayed on track. It made sense.

Well, New Year’s Eve is coming up, and we’re having another get-together in the common room. Izzy and Kent won’t be there—Paul and Rebecca flew them down to St. Croix, where Izzy’s friend from when she was a full-time model is there.

Hannah made Addison promise New Year’s would be relaxing. So, I’m hoping for a nice, quiet night.

I’m sure someone will post, so keep an eye out!
