Chapter 20: DREAM VACATION by Kent Marlon

I got to tell you… a Caribbean Island vacation? I wouldn’t have dared dream about this growing up. Not even anytime in the last five years.

I don’t really fit into this kind of crowd, but folks like me learn early how to not stand out. Never mind the plain white T-shirt!

“You must have had a lot of days like these,” I said to Izzy.

“Yes and no… We got photographed in places like this, but we usually stayed in motels and hotels that were a lot cheaper and not as fancy.” She got sort of a distant look on her face. “It was still pretty nice for a girl from Chicago’s South Side.”

Izzy’s dad is an elevator repair technician and her mom is a postal worker. She was born in Blue Island, Illinois, and grew up there. My dad was an MTA subway mechanic. I told her once it was kinda interesting that both of our dads worked on things that move people.

So far, this vacation has been really amazing. Really, something I’d never think of doing. It’s just not in my head that you pack up and go to an island to sit around and play for a week.

I know we just got back from Belize, but that was more like working, and we spent most of our time in the mangroves, on shady patios at a resort. This is definitely different.

And, to be honest, if we’d had to fork over the money on this one, we’d have stayed home. Paul used The Society’s jet to bring us down. Izzy’s friend, Ailana, already had rooms for us. We’re just paying for meals when we go out.

I’ll add that Jason’s straight-up valid. He and I were talking about this lifestyle and he says it’s a big upgrade from being a middle class pastor’s son. He said Ailana learned this style of life in the last of her modeling years. He’s catching on to it as they go.

Well, I’ll wrap up with the thought I meant to share when I started.

There’s another part of this that feels like an even better dream. That’s the fact I’m spending a week with Izzy.

Be your best you!

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month.

Patreon members… You are covering a nice portion of that.

I believe most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. That means so much to me! I am honored and greatly moved.

While most of the content on AGI Stories is free and much of it is public, the hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!

Again, thank you very, very much.
