Message from AGI-Stories…
Yesterday's post in this storyline went out with a lot of mistakes! Apologies for that—I corrected them later in the day and sent out a notice. Thanks for understanding.

TO COLORADO by Jordan Warner
If you missed yesterday’s post, here’s the plan. Carter and I are flying to Colorado to retrieve Cindi’s car and drive it back to Memphis. Her dad is going to pick us up tonight, get us to a hotel, then take us to her car tomorrow. One night on the road, and we’ll be home late Friday.
Now, let me just be honest. I might be glad Carter is going with me. I wanted to sort of clear the air so as we went through Memphis International, I just asked.
“Remember at the New Year party you asked if I had engineered you being there as my date?”
Carter smiled. “I remember. You said you didn’t.”
“So, here we go off on a two-day road trip. Let me just ask… did you engineer it so we’d be together?”
Carter smiled. “First off, I was the best choice of the group. Hayes could have gone, and that would have probably been fine. Obviously not Cindi and by extension not Michael.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
We walked along a ways, and when he replied, he still didn’t answer the question. “I’m looking forward to spending time with you. I like being with you. Are you okay with that?”
I suppose I wasn’t as prepared for total transparency as I thought. My face went hot and red, but I couldn’t help smiling.
I dared to be honest back. “I like hanging out with you, too.”
I felt like he put his arm around me and pulled me to his side—he didn’t but the air was thick with that vibe. I don’t know how to say it. It was like my honesty erased the six or ten inches between us and we were somehow magically closer.
“Jordan,” Carter said, after a dozen steps, “if this trip hastens our inevitable relationship, I’m not going to complain.”
I smiled, but didn’t say anything until we were boarded and in our seats. I know he means that us sharing space regularly and having compatible interests and similar values and morals greatly increases the chance we’ll grow closer. But I like the inside joke of it being inevitable
Once the seatbelt sign went off I rocked my shoulder gently into his. “Hey…”
He looked over.
“If the inevitable happens, I won’t complain either.”

SO FAR SO GOOD by Jordan Warner
A little while ago I think I erred a bit. My impulsive nature is to blame.
Cindi’s dad dropped us off at the hotel with the plan to pick us up in the morning. Carter and I checked in and headed to our rooms. His is across the hall and one door down from mine. For luggage, we have just a backpack each. Keep it simple—one night here, one night on the road.
We were at my door, and I was thinking… This has been a fun day, and it’s not really late. We ought to just hang out for a while. Somewhere between the idea and the words, things got sideways bad!
“Hey, you wanna come in and sit around for a while? It’s not very late…”
Carter looked at my door, then at his, then down at his access card. I was about to recant my offer when he replied.
“Not sure we should do the alone-in-a-hotel-room thing. No one out here knows us, but… I guess it’s the principle of the thing…”“Oh, yeah,” I said. “Totally… Knowing my luck, my mom will flat out ask… ‘Now, Jordan, honey, tell me you weren’t alone with him in the hotel room!’ Seriously, that’s something she’d ask! The principle matters, for sure.”
Carter seemed a little lost in my story about mom, but he nodded and looked down the hall. “Drop your stuff and we can go sit in the lobby. How about that?”
So that’s where we are now. This is what I meant—I just said it wrong the first time!
