STILL CHILLING, STILL BLESSED by Cindi Curtis

Greetings from day three of the Memphis Metro snow event! I’m doing fine, actually relishing the simplicity of all this.

Do you remember when Michael and I went shopping and bought this maroon fuzzy robe? At the time, I didn’t think much of it. But looking back, I think that’s a little slice of what life together will feel like. Simple moments shared.

Well, here’s an update on how things are going:

Food—yes.Clothes—yes (thanks Mom!).Electricity—yes.Internet—yes.Computers, iPad, iPhone—yes.Snow plows—ZERO.

I’m in a warm house with nothing but food, a skillet, an air mattress, clothes, and linens. And a Keurig!

That’s it. And you know what? The simplicity has been a wonderful reset. No rushing. No overthinking. Just what’s right in front of me.

Sunday, I had a brief panic moment. I was on FaceTime with Michael. Nothing dramatic was happening. But that old thought started creeping in: You are running out of time. You need to be doing something different. You are behind.

That’s one of my ongoing anxiety themes. The funny part? I KNEW I wasn’t behind—and there wasn’t anything to be behind on! I’m caught up at work. Life is moving the way it’s supposed to. But rational thinking doesn’t get a vote when panic shows up.

It lasted a few minutes, then passed.

Another day, another episode. Next… LOL.

Moments like this have me thinking about provision in the smallest ways. Not dramatic miracles. Just quiet, daily enough.

Jesus said, “Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.” Matthew 6:34 (WEB).

I’ve heard that verse my whole life, but today it feels literal. Today has food. Today has heat. Today has work I can do. Today has a mug of coffee and a fuzzy robe. That’s enough for today.

Maybe faith isn’t about feeling brave. Maybe it’s just staying where you are long enough to see that God already met you there.

And right now? He did.

Be your best you!

STILL CHILLING, STILL BLESSED by Cindi Curtis. Good morning Cindi. I love your list. Great checklist for inclement weather in Memphis. And you already told me 15 snow plows? I never knew there were any. I saw something with a snow plow attachment on the blade. But now I think that was TDOT, not the city. Memphis has been extraordinarily blessed so far this round. Snow this deep is rare here. Blessed indeed that things haven't been worse. Cross your fingers and say your prayers we make it through this extreme cold warning. A few years ago, extreme cold hit, and so many water lines failed, we were under a boiled water alert for a week. It was an unpleasant experience. Let's hope when they repaired those lines, they were lasting repairs. I'm very glad your panic attacks have either lessened or that you are dealing with them better. Either way, progress, right? I guess it is a bit of winter culture shock for you here. Memphis just doesn't get the winter that Colorado does. Normally! I say my thankyous to the Lord every year November through March for that. Thank you for the very apropos verse and I hope you have a good rest of your day. Thanks for the update.
