GOOD MORNING
I’m on the beach. Here’s a thing. It’s supposed to be mostly cloudy—and it has been—but just a few minutes ago, the sun broke out and Jason snapped some images.
Coastal weather can be quirky and change fast. I don’t think it actually watches the forecasts.
The window of sunshine was short but it’s plenty warm, so I’m not complaining.
If the weather pays attention to the forecast, we should have scattered thunderstorms and a lot of clouds for a few days. I’ll try to remember to keep you posted.
Jason and I are heading back to our condos shortly. If you are new to the Journal, the condo building has three levels. Jason has an efficiency unit on the ground, and I have an efficiency on the third floor. The second floor has two two-bedroom units (the Everetts’ and the Ryans’) and another efficiency unit (the Banks’).
It also has an open-floor-plan office and collaborative space for AGI and SwimFit. After showers and all that sort of thing, Jason and I will meet there to continue working on content from the trip we just got back from.
Later this afternoon, Geoni, Jason, Jasmine, and I will head into an area of South Padre Island that has some homes and matches the requested images for a little photoshoot Naomi set up for us. I’ll share something from that as a goodnight post.
That… That is the plan for today!
In the meantime, I hope you have a great Saturday morning. See you soon!

OFFICE TIME
If you’ve seen me type once, you probably have seen it dozens of times! However, right now, I’m just sorting notes and images.
But earlier, I was doing some ghostwriting—except my client is calling it editing. It’s some of both.
I got to punch up the vibe of a dialogue section. It’s not finished, but here’s an excerpt.
Sienna stood and leaned over to check the cable of the jittery monitor. It was tight, as expected.
"Hey, cutie… How's it looking?" It was Luke’s voice coming from the doorway behind her.
"Cutie?" She turned to face him, pretending to be angry. "I'm a Public Security Service officer on duty. Don't forget that!"
"We're cops. No need to stand on formality… We just need some brass buttons."
"I'd give you a whole box of brass buttons if you could get the monitors to stop glitching."
"Did you check the cable?" Luke said, approaching as Sienna moved aside.
“Oh gosh! I never thought to do that!”
Luke turned Monitor 5 around and scanned the others. "They're all jittering again."
“Network lag, I think,” Sienna replied.
Luke disconnected Monitor 5, toggled the power, and reconnected it. The feed refreshed, the image snapping back into motion.
“Which cop in this room has the best boyfriend?"
Sienna shook her head. "I was going to say I have the best partner—and I wasn't going to limit it to just this room."
“What about the boyfriend part?”
Sienna pointed to a second chair, then sat down at her station. "Since I'm the only Public Security Service officer in the room, I guess it's me."
"I'll take it!" Luke rolled his chair up and started cycling through feeds on Monitor 2. “So, we have dispatch until lunch?”
“Yeah, then we hit the streets and do some real work.”
I get the feeling this is going to be a long-term project. Honestly, I’m pretty excited to be part of it.
PRN DAY by David Gregory
I’m here at Shoreline Health and Wellness Clinic doing a PRN shift in the walk-in clinic. Amir and Anika are staffing this place out, but they're not done yet.
Vanessa (EMT) and Min (nurse practitioner) have been teaming up to cover some of the walk-in hours. Then, the office manager, Isabela, suggested Vanessa enlist me to do some PRN work so they could be open a few more hours.
Normally, I work at Valley Baptist Medical Center–Brownsville. However, like many Texas hospitals, the Emergency Department is staffed by a contracted physician group rather than directly employing most emergency physicians. I’m actually employed by Cameron County Emergency Physicians, P.A.—the physician group contracted to provide emergency medicine coverage at Valley.
I work shifts in the Emergency Department as a full attending physician on the floor. But because of my CDC background, I got recruited to also coordinate with Valley Baptist’s ED nursing leadership and hospital departments to monitor quality, infection prevention, and patient safety related to infections.
Most of the work here at Shoreline today has involved tourist injuries. A girl misstepped off the curb. The car missed her, but she didn’t miss hitting the pavement hard. The X-ray suggests a partial fracture in the left radius. I immobilized it with a brace and told her to get to an ortho ASAP.
Things like that are common.
Vanessa and Min had a fisherman who tangled with moon jellyfish. Aside from the painful stings, he was allergic and his airway was closing. They called for transport, gave him antihistamine injections, and probably saved his life.
Shoreline has established direct communications with the paramedics in the area for cases that should have been 911 calls in the first place. The fisherman was pretty lucky.
GOOD NIGHT
Don’t tell Naomi’s client, but… let me backtrack before I get in trouble.
The dresses I’m modeling are really nicely made. They are comfortable and I think they fit well. They seem to be good quality, too.
I’m not a fan of the patterns or color palette. Maybe the patterns would be nicer if I liked the color palette.
But I think there is a good point here—Jasmine caught on quickly.
“So, you don’t like it, but?”
“But,” I replied, “We’re not paid to like them. We’re paid to wear them.”
On April 6, two days from now, AGI Stories will begin its third year of sharing content. A lot has changed, including the name and watermarks!
If you go back to those earliest weeks after I started (best curated on Patreon—sort by oldest first) you’ll eventually start finding posts (early May) where I talked about the modeling job.
On May 12, 2004, in “Is That Even Me?” I wrote this about a job I had just finished:
As I stared at the pixels that someone paid me to let them create, I shook my head.
Is… that… me?
I walked away with a check. And a lot of questions.
My decision to back away from modeling was reinforced. There has to be something I could be doing—should be doing that has more… more meaning.
How can I use my time and energy in a way that means something to me? I've come to the place I want my talents to… do something good.
Now, I just need to figure out how to do that. And keep paying the bills!
Now, two years later, I’ve returned to modeling—but on different terms. My writing work pays the bills now. Modeling jobs add to my savings and portfolio.
Naomi knows I don’t want to chase after every opportunity. She sends things to us that fit who I am—who we are.
Still, I dare not walk away from a job to wear a nice dress just because I don’t like the colors.
May you have the wisdom to know the differences between opportunities that move you forward and those that hold you back.
Good night.
Be your best you!

Thank-You Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you for helping support AGI Stories. At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.
As you know, I share a lot of content free to all, and I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.
With that in mind, I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.
My hope is that reserving a few photos and small portions of posts for you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.
I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.
Again, thank you very much.
