A Lookbook For Kaylee

GOOD MORNING

Things took off at warp speed after the walk and talk with Jasmine and Sasha. Fasten your seatbelts.

The opportunity on the table is to shoot fashion shots for a teen/college age company. Naomi said Jasmine had the look. Not a surprise to me, she said I had aged out of it. Naomi added that it would be great if we had someone in addition to Jasmine.

Jasmine said for her to send the e-sign modeling contracts and trust her.

Jasmine’s plan?

So, Dad introduced Micah to a guy he works with on the rental properties (Isaac). Micah and Isaac introduced their wives to each other—Jasmine and Kaylee.

You might recall me holding their son, Hudson, at church one day.

Jasmine has recruited Kaylee into the AGI Creative modeling lineup. Brilliant, if you ask me. I think Kaylee can pull off looks from seventeen to twenty-seven.

We’re going to try and prove that today. I’m meeting her and Jasmine soon to talk about the process. Then we’re going to build a lookbook for her that Naomi can show the prospect. I’m fairly confident this is going to be great!

We’ll angle her lookbook today mostly to sell to the teen/college fashion prospect, but we’ll grab a couple other looks, too. It’s going to be a big day, and I believe you’ll enjoy following along with us as it unfolds.

Now, I need to get going without delay. Jasmine and Kaylee will be here soon, so that’s it for now.

LOOKING AT THE LOOKBOOK

I think everything is ready. This is going to be a fun, but busy day. I’m actually very excited by everything that’s happening!

Jasmine’s friend—the newest model for AGI and Naomi’s agency—Kaylee is ready to go. She and Jasmine have been here for a while, and I’ve sort of previewed the plan.

Throughout the day, Jasmine will be supporting the photography work and encouraging Kaylee. Kaylee’s slight unease pales compared to Jasmine’s enthusiasm. I think it’s going to be a great day.

We’re starting in the studio. Jason and Geoni still think I’m the expert at studio work by virtue of having been in front of the lens for so long. I’ll accept that, and we’ll get some great looks from there.

After that, we’ll head out for some environmental shots. I’ll pass the camera to Jason and his minor in art (with a photography focus). I’ll continue coaching and helping Kaylee.

Meanwhile, Sasha, Clay, Micah, and Geoni are doing a total makeover of Sasha and Clay’s second bedroom. By the time we get there, it will be converted to teen-girl mode. Since the client we’re hoping to convince to use us is a teen and college fashion company, we want to show Kaylee in that setting.

Let me pause here to say that it’s impossible to cover every detail of every day here in the Journal. For instance, Jason and Geoni work on their stock photo catalog. Another thing that has happened without mention is gradually building Jasmine’s lookbook, so we won’t be shooting her today.

Last stop will be the bedroom setting, and Jason will take the lead on that as photographer. I’m going to shoot some there, too.

Isaac is on Hudson duty.. He’ll join us as he can, and I’d say he’s nearly as excited as Jasmine.

That’s the plan. What do you say? Let’s get going!

LOOKBOOK

I am literally more excited by today’s work than anything I’ve done in a long time. It was a combination of reliving my past and pushing myself into a new frontier.

Today, along with Jasmine, I helped Kaylee Branch create a modeling lookbook.

A lookbook is a quiet way of showing who someone can be without needing a full story to explain it. It’s a collection of images built around a single person, where each frame explores a different look, mood, or expression.

Sometimes it’s about clothing—how an outfit fits, moves, and feels—but just as often it’s about presence. Posture, lighting, emotion, even the way someone holds their hands all become part of it.

For Kaylee, this is less about fashion and more about range. We want her agent, Naomi, to feel confident in Kaylee’s ability to deliver a wide variety of looks.

You’ll see her soft, confident, playful, thoughtful—sometimes all in the same day. The big idea is to show prospective clients who she is through a series of small, intentional moments. A lookbook lets you understand a model visually, piece by piece, without needing her to say a word.

Kaylee caught on fast.

At first, I kept it simple—just the basics. Where to stand, what to do with her hands, how to hold a look without overthinking it. Nothing overwhelming. Just quiet adjustments and encouragement, one frame at a time.

I told her modeling isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about learning how to be seen as you already are. The camera doesn’t need perfection. It needs presence.

There were moments where she hesitated. You could see it in the pause before a pose. I’d gently guide her through it—reminding her to breathe and trust herself.

Before long, that hesitation started to fade. She began to move naturally, to understand her angles, her expressions, her range. It was a huge step forward for her first day.

Taking the plunge didn’t happen all at once. It came through a series of small yeses—and I just stayed there with her while she found her footing.

LOOKBOOK REFLECTION by Kaylee Branch

I don’t even really know how to process today yet.

This morning I was standing in a studio, being told where to put my hands and how to hold a look…and tonight I’m back in a rental unit with a spray bottle and a rag cleaning up other people’s mess. Me and Isaac do this all the time, so it’s normal—but it felt different tonight. Like I stepped out of one life and right back into another.

Jasmine’s friends went all out for me. I’m still kind of in shock about that. While I was at the studio with Jasmine and Ailana, Sasha and Geoni literally built a teenage girl’s bedroom set in Sasha’s spare room. Like…they painted a wall. Who does that? For me? I don’t even know what to say to that except thank you, and even that doesn’t feel like enough.

Jasmine sat me down and explained the model contract and the base rate. It’s at least double what me and Isaac make cleaning condos. That part hit me hard. Not in a bad way—just…real. For that, I’ll learn fast. I’ll try really hard. I don’t want to waste this.

And Ailana…she was so patient with me. I was nervous at first, and I know it probably showed, but she never made me feel stupid or out of place. She just kept it simple. Small adjustments, quiet encouragement. She made it feel like I could actually do this.

And when I got stuck, she showed me. Not her just telling me, but actually showing me. She’s done modeling for years, and you can tell. I know I can learn a lot from her, if I get the chance.

Jasmine said it won’t be every day, but they’re hoping it turns into regular work. I don’t know what that looks like yet. I just know today felt like something changed.

I’m tired. My hands smell like cleaner again. But my head is still back in that studio.

GOOD NIGHT

Days like this make me feel proud. The plan came together over a period of time starting midday yesterday, and about 28 hours later, Kaylee had a great start on a lookbook—giving Naomi what she needed to seal the deal with her new prospect.

There were a few struggles. Nothing that surprised me, but things that had to be worked through.

“You want me to redo my nails back to red for this outfit?” Kaylee asked.

“It will look better,” Jasmine said.

We did some poses with barely-dry nails, even using the nail polish drying spray.

Hudson needed some hugs along the way, too. Aside—Clay looked pretty happy holding a two-year-old!

Here’s the big takeaway.

When people work together as a team, the outcome can be amazing. Like that teen girl’s room!

I asked Sasha what the plan was, now.

“We’ll leave it for now. If we are having a little girl, we’ll keep the pink walls and change out furniture and decorations. Fifty-fifty chance we won’t have to repaint!”

Isaac looked around the room and said, “Let me bring up a somewhat important parenting concept… choking hazard.”

Clay laughed. “Duly noted. I guess we’ll box up everything and start fresh.”

I’ll close out today with this thought.

It’s amazing to be part of a team like this. Aside from the friendships we share, today proves that we can deliver on big ideas with great success.

I’m humbled to be part of all this.

Good night.

Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.

I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.

I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.

At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.

Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.

My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and small portions of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.

With that in mind, again, thank you very much.

GOOD MORNING. A Lookbook For Kaylee. Good morning, Ailana. It is brilliant. Kaylee and Jasmine are already friends. Kaylee and Isaac do need the extra money. Win win for all, I'd say. Have a great day!

LOOKING AT THE LOOKBOOK. First off, nobody expects you to "cover every detail of every day here in the Journal." A journal is a flexible, introspective space to use as you see fit. Thanks for the other mentions. That was a bonus, because they are not the focus of today. //I'm sure Isaac is thrilled to join you as soon as he can. Thanks for the update.

LOOKBOOK. Hello, Kaylee. This may be a new frontier, but it looks like you are ready for it. It is terrific! Thanks, team, for sharing these bonus photos. They are outstanding. Well done, indeed.

LOOKBOOK REFLECTION by Kaylee Branch. Hello again, Kaylee. You've had quite a day. It feels that way because you literally have stepped out of one life and then back into another. But that's okay. Jasmine and the others are your friends. They want you to succeed. And, this food for thought, you have a strong work ethic, Kaylee. Don't lose that. You were a model this afternoon, yet cleaning a kitchen counter tonight. But doing a good job. Work ethic makes a reputation. Whatever you are doing. You know this already. I wish the best of luck. I think you will be a great fit for AGI. Thanks for your thoughts. Take care.
