Chapter 87: LIVE AND LEARN by Emma Knox

Everybody loves Addison, including me. But right now, I’m questioning her fashion advice.

Yesterday we went to the thrift shop, and I got a $10 grab bag. Whatever I’m wearing was in it, and Addison said it’d make a nice outfit.

She posed me for this picture and used my iPhone to take it. I asked where I was supposed to wear this, and she said anywhere. I’m not sure about that, but I kinda like the sweater part.

This isn’t even what I wanted to post about, so I’ll get on to that.

Me and Noah were sitting around talking about life and everything. Now, we’re the youngest of everyone living at Crossroads. I just turned 21 and he’s 23.

We’re also about the poorest when it comes to money. He’s an EMT. He’s advanced, but he don’t make a lot of money. I work part-time at a church and go to school.

Now we’re not jealous of the others, but we see that they all have good-paying jobs and are building up careers. Liza come from a hard life like me in a lot of ways, but she got into college and is an intern now with a good engineering future ahead of her.

Hannah and Merritt had some big discussions this week about ten years from now being partners. Can you believe that?

So, me and Noah got a plan. We’re going to see about getting Hannah and Merritt to break up. Noah gets to marry Hannah and I go back and work things out with Merritt! Planning for the future, right?

That was a joke. We didn’t even say that, but… ahem… Addison did. She was joking, too.

The thing is Noah and me understand we got to keep improving. He’s going to start taking classes next term to start on his paramedic license. Maybe become an RN after that. Maybe—who knows—after that…

Ten years.

I’m gonna work real hard in school and see if I can become a social worker like Izzy. It won’t be rich work, but it will be good and steady.

Ten years will pass whether or not we take classes. If we take them now, in ten years we’ll have them to call our own.

In the meantime, me and Noah are just hoping Pay It Forward Society stays around and keeps paying our rent.

Message to Paying Supporters:

Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.

I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.

I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.

At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.

Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.

My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and small portions of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.

With that in mind, again, thank you very much.

Chapter 87: LIVE AND LEARN by Emma Knox. Hello Emma! Um, my two cents, don't wear that top for anybody but Noah. For now, anyway. I'd say you two are wise beyond your years. Don't worry about the Society. They'll be around. I have my own theory about them. Emma, you and Noah keep playing the long game. You are right. Ten years is coming. Fill those years well. Thanks for your thoughts. And, careful where you joke like that. Somebody might hear that doesn't know you are joking. And it is a nice sweater. Take care.
