A MESSAGE FROM AGI STORIES—You’re going to need your coffee for this one. Maybe snacks, too.

Today is huge.

We’ve been building toward this wedding for a long time, and the day is finally here. There will be several posts, several voices, a lot of pictures, and hopefully the kind of story moments that make all the waiting feel worth it.

I’d love to hear your comments and thoughts as the day unfolds. Thank you for reading, reacting, supporting, and coming along for the ride.

Now let’s get Ailana and Jason married.

GOOD MORNING

Isn’t there an expression that says, “Well begun is half done”? I have about six hours before I walk down the aisle. I’m not going to rush anything.

This will be my last post until after we get back from the honeymoon. Others will take over the task for the next few days.

The plan—always tell the plan—is to let Sasha, Geoni, and Jasmine take me to the church around 10:00 a.m. I think there’s a rule that says the bigger the event, the earlier you have to arrive and wait.

Wedding at noon. Cue the music!

Reception to follow. Honeymoon after that.

WEDDING PART 1 by Sasha Everett

I dragged Ailana, along with Geoni and Jasmine, to the church about an hour ago. We took some pictures, but—nah—bad luck to see the bride in her dress too soon.

So, there are a lot of people here to celebrate the wedding. I’m not surprised. Ailana? Definitely surprised!

We won’t take pictures during the wedding, but we’ve already asked some people to pose as they came in, before the ceremony begins. I’ll share a few!

After sharing all the wedding details over the months leading up to now, I’m sure we mentioned that Jason’s dad, a minister, is presiding over the wedding. I thought I’d mention that again here.

But now it’s time to get to the bride’s room and make sure Ailana doesn’t forget to put on her shoes. That could happen, you know!

WEDDING PART 2 by Sasha Everett

Jason’s dad said it, so it must be so! Husband and wife! Done!

Okay, now that it’s over, I can show you the pre-ceremony pictures of Ailana with Jasmine, Geoni, and me. There were a lot of guests here, some of whom you might recognize from the comments.

It was wonderful to meet Robert Watson ( @robertwatson7391 on IG) and his wife, Kim. They made the trip down from Memphis!

Likewise, it was a great joy to meet Gustavo Murillo ( @gustavomurillo714 on IG ), who came all the way from Honduras to take part in the wedding service.

Of course, Allen has been beaming all day. I imagine this day was almost as big for him as it was for Ailana!

Everyone said that the service was just right. And I agree.

I’ll check in again from the reception with more, so watch for that a little later.

RECEPTION by Sasha Everett

More people, more pictures! More fun!

As I said before, a lot of guests came. I’ll mention a few more now.

Ailana’s friend, Izzy Duffy, and her boyfriend, Kent Marlon, came down from Brooklyn. Izzy said there was no way she’d miss this. They’ll share some thoughts about it tomorrow.

Kaylee and Isaac were there with Hudson, too. They managed to dodge most of the pictures and they didn't want to post anything with Hudson in it this time. They said if you've seen one grumpy two-year-old, you've seen more than enough. The left the reception fairly early.

Jack Tempest ( @jack_o1969 on IG) came, as well. You probably have seen him in the comments over the years, and now he’s here in the flesh. He visited once before—some of you might remember that.

Of course, there had to be a Keller family photo. Ailana got Jason’s parents, Dave and Marsha Keller, and his sister, Lydia Kenwood, to pose with him. Lydia’s husband, Matthew, opted out of being included on social media.

So the whole point of this shindig was to get Ailana and Jason out of here for a few days.. After necks were hugged, hands were shaken, and food was eaten, Jason and Ailana boarded the cabin cruiser Flying High as Husband and wife. They left the marina—and a crowd of people who love them dearly—behind.

Best of luck! Smooth sailing! See you soon.

PAST THE JETTIES—Vignette

Ailana and Jason sat side-by-side, crowded onto the helm seat. The cabin cruiser was named Flying High, and that was how both of them felt.

Jason turned to Ailana. “It’s like a dream come true.”

Ailana smiled. “Jason, I’ll do my best to be everything you ever dreamed of.”

Jason kissed her head. “I’ll do my best, too.”

Jason turned the wheel and set a course to the north. Behind them were the South Padre Island jetties and a marina full of friends and family. Ahead of them was the life they dreamed of.

KRAKEN GOOD DINNER by Allen Geven

I met Robert Watson and his wife, Kim, at the wedding, and we talked a little at the reception. He said he had been eyeing all our visits to The Kraken with a little envy.

“Well, let’s go there for dinner,” I said. “My treat.”

“Absolutely not! I’d love to treat you. You raised a great daughter, and it would be my way of saying thanks.”

I accepted, and here we are, leaving very satisfied. I have to say this is one of my favorite places to eat in South Padre Island. The food is great, and the vibe is amazing.

The conversation over dinner was great. Kim is lovely, and Robert is fascinating. We talked a lot about Ailana and all of the adventures she’s shared in The Journal.

Robert said he’d been pulling for Jason and Ailana to work things out and get married for a long time. Then he added, “How about you? It’s never too late.”

I laughed it off. “I’m not sure about that. Nothing like that’s on my radar… that’s for sure.”

“Why not?”

I shrugged. “I’d rather not go into all that on the heels of such a wonderful day. Maybe I’ll talk about it one day.”

“I’d like to hear what you’re thinking,” he said. “I’ll watch for that.”

After that, I suppose you could say we focused on the food and talked more about Ailana and Jason. We decided to meet at Denny’s for breakfast, then take a short ride on Imagine What before they go to the airport.

It was great to meet someone so supportive and thoughtful. I know his comments and thoughts add a lot to The Journal, so getting to shake his hand was amazing.

ICE CREAM AND SNAP GROUP by Brooks McKenna

The silver lining in my awkward Jenna comment a few nights ago is that it reminded me to send her a Snap. She was glad I did, and we kept it going. She also thought the joke was funny, so that.

Low-key, she’s the kind of girl I hope to be friends with. She’s smart, friendly, and outgoing.

I got off at three today, and she asked what we were doing for fun. We decided to come to the Baked Bear for ice cream.

“How was work?” she asked.

“It’s okay. I get to meet a lot of the people that live here, and there’s a stream of tourists all the time.”

"You’re the first person I met…” She smiled, then added, “And guess what? I’m not the new kid on the island anymore!”

“What do you mean?”

“I met a guy yesterday that moved in on Thursday. That makes him the new kid.”

“Most likely. I doubt anyone moved in between then and now. What was his name?”

“Kel. Crazy, but he’s from Houston. I moved here from Galveston.”

I asked, “Where did you meet?”

“I was out walking and made my way down to Beach Access 7. He was just hanging out. He lives really near that.”

There was a little lull, so I asked her what she did today.

“I asked Dad to show me the boat he’s in charge of. It’s pretty cool. Oh…” She smiled again and nodded. “When we were driving by Chapel by the Sea, we saw a wedding letting out. Everyone was so happy.”

I thought that sounded nice. “Do you dream of a wedding?”

She shrugged and took a bite of ice cream. “More like I dream of being married. Settled down. Not moving so much.”

“I get that,” I replied.

We talked about dreams like that for a little while, then she got this little mischievous look. “We should send a Snap to Mateo and Kel…just show them our ice cream or something.”

Then I had an idea. “We could make a Snap group!”

“Bet!” she said.

I made the group, adding a guy I know who hangs out with Mateo—Gabe Morales. “What should the caption say?”

She answered immediately. “Welcome to the summer! Let’s go!”

Long before they boarded Flying High, Jason and Ailana had discussed their first night as husband and wife.

Jason had said, “Let’s talk it out so we won’t be nervous, and it will be exactly what we expect.”

“I like that idea,” Ailana had replied.

As planned, they sailed from the marina to the first waypoint on their navigation plan. They worked their way into a protected anchorage and dropped anchor.

They had agreed that the first night should be like every night to come. They wanted their first night to be special, but different only because it was their first night. They wanted to start the life they would live for all the years to come.

“Shall we get ready for bed?” Ailana said once the anchor was set.

“Yes. Are you nervous?”Ailana smiled. “A little. How about you?” “A little.”

Ailana followed Jason from the saloon to the bathroom. It was designed for one, and even then, it was a tight fit.

“We’ll have to take turns,” Ailana said. “Yacht life isn’t exactly normal life, you know. Back home we can brush at the same time.”Jason nodded. “You can have the sink first. I’ll follow you to the stateroom.”Ailana brushed her teeth, washed her face, then went to the stateroom and undressed. Then, as she had almost every night for almost all of her life, she climbed into bed without pajamas or a nightgown.

Jason brushed his teeth and joined her.

Message to Paying Supporters:

Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.

I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.

I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.

At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.

Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.

My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and sections of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.

With that in mind, again, thank you very much.
