GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller

I’ve found one thing that is way better about living in the ground-floor condo: access to the backyard!

I can just walk out of the living room—no stairs involved. I thought I’d see how a good-morning post from here works out.

I thought a little status check on how the week is going might be a good way to start the day. Sunday was about sun, sand, and salt water. Yesterday was about getting organized, editing some old projects, and starting drafts for new ones. Also, I took Emily shopping, and that went great.

Today should look more like a regular workday. I’m using the AGI/SwimFit office more and more. With Emily’s room being on the third floor, working on the second feels closer. Plus, she comes in and hangs out a lot, so we get to be in the same room. That feels pretty cool, if you ask me.

To be honest, the office feels a little like the hub now. Jasmine works there as a rule. Kel comes in and hangs out. Sasha is in and out. Jason and Josh still do some of their meetings in Josh’s apartment, but they come to the office frequently, too. Geoni does a lot of her heavy editing work in her apartment, but she also works in the office from time to time.

I suppose that’s what an office is meant to be?

I’ll check in from there later. I hope whatever part of the day you are in is going well. See you soon.

CLICKING KEYS by Ailana Geven Keller

As promised, I’m working away today. I’m making good progress, and that feels really good.

The idea of a “predictable week” came up in the Patreon comments earlier this week. The discussion revolved around the idea that incoming, unexpected business opportunities could still be part of a predictable week. That’s to say, when Jason got a call this morning about a quick photo session, it wasn’t a surprise even though it wasn’t on the calendar.

I think that’s kinda the lane AGI Creative lives in now.

Emily brought her laptop—the one I gave her after its battery life became too limiting for my work—to the office today. She’s been clicking keys, too.

I asked what she’s working on.

“I’m trying to write a little sensory thing. I want to keep practicing.”

“How’s it going?” I asked.

She read it to me:

Taylor walked down the rough wooden steps of the walkover onto the sand. It was hot, but she went on anyway. Each squeaky step in the sand carried her closer to the waves. Above her, gulls circled, their cries like backup singers to the steady rhythm of the waves splashing onto the beach.

“That’s all I have so far. I’m not taking it anywhere. I’m just trying to make the reader feel like they’re walking to the water.”

I told her she was doing great. I mean that.

“I like how you use your middle name,” I added. “I don’t know… It’s personal in a way, but also not.”

She shrugged. “I guess it’s like a mix of real and fiction.”

I took some time with her, and we played around with some different sensory paragraphs—cooking on the grill, washing hands in the sink… common, everyday things. I made sure not to go too far, but when I went back to work, she kept typing for a while.

Eventually, she and Kel decided to go for a walk outside.

I’m excited to see how her writing develops. And I’ll keep sharing with you!

That’s all for now. See you tonight.

JOURNAL MOMENTS

Today’s Journal Moments begin at the airport and end at Sea Glass Cafe.

REUNITING

Olivia Overmark stopped in the main terminal and called Vanessa. “Hey… I’m here!”

Vanessa’s voice was cheerful and light. “Okay. Text when you get near the hotel. I’ll come over and get you. Everyone else at the clinic is looking forward to meeting you, and Min is very excited to see you again.”

“I can’t wait. I’ve missed our team. I know it will be different, and that’s fine. I was just done with flying solo.”

PERSONAL CALLS

As soon as Peter Sloane reported that the flashlight bulb had been overnighted to Los Fresnos and ended the call, Ryan’s phone rang again.

“Ryan… Evelyn Chandler, returning your call. What’s up?”

“Hey, thanks for calling back. One of my VPNs is wonky again. I’m not even sure it’s connecting to anything.”

“Do you want me to remote in and see if I can fix it?”

“Would you?”

“That’s what you pay me for, right? Which one?”

“The new one—the one you call number three.”

“No problem. You’ll be back on Call of Duty ASAP.”

Ryan laughed. “Very funny. You know I’m into Counter-Strike now.”

PORT ISABEL

Kirina came out of the office humming a tune Ricky guessed she was turning into a new piece of music. With Kirina at the counter, he grabbed a damp towel and headed into the dining area to wipe down some tables.

Moving to Port Isabel had made life easier for him and Isabela. They were closer to their jobs and the friends they were making.

The house on Pennsylvania Avenue was much nicer and closer, but after paying all the bills, Ricky and Isabela didn’t have much left. They saved most of what remained and put aside a little for dates and treats.

It had been a tough choice to make the move, but Ricky had no regrets.

GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller

Hey friends… It’s been a really good day. After lunch, I have to admit a lot of work got done. I actually put revised versions of two conservation articles I wrote during the yacht trip on my editor’s desk. Buyers are waiting!

Looking ahead, I predict more of the same for the next few days.

Tomorrow, Jasmine and Kaylee head to Dallas and will be back late Thursday. I think I told you that Emily is going to watch Hudson here on Thursday so that Isaac can work. Added to that plan is that they’ll have some catching up to do on Friday, so Emily is going to help them with the cleaning again. The babysitting is a favor. The work on Friday will be for pay, and she’s excited about that.

Jason picked up a day of work at a locally owned sporting goods store in Brownsville. He’ll be working with their web developer to create new images.

At this point, I’m reaching for things to talk about. I’ll share one more thought after the closing, but I think today was pretty simple, so not much more to add.

Let me wrap up.

May life sometimes gift you with easy days—days that lead to great accomplishments and satisfaction.

Good night.

The additional thoughts, message, and a thank you that follow are exclusive to Patreon supporters.

For those of you who are supporters on Patreon, I’ll add a short thought. I’m thinking about myself and the new responsibilities that have come my way.

I spent a year getting my head around the idea of becoming a wife. And so I did.

But all along, I was faced with new opportunities as AGI Creative grew into something Naomi could use more frequently. And with those new opportunities came different responsibilities. Add in Emily’s arrival, and I could say my basket was overflowing.

I have a different paradigm. How about this?

All those changes didn’t mean I had more than I could handle. They meant I needed a bigger basket.

I’m calling that growth.

I don’t feel like I’m any more capable of doing it all well. But I do feel like I can carry the load and do my best.

And I think…that might be just enough.

GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller. Good morning, Ailana. Regular workday? Um, maybe. We'll see. Sounds like the AGI/SwimFit office is the social and business hub. Natural development of such. This all sounds good. Have a great day.

CLICKING KEYS by Ailana Geven Keller. I agree with this. Given your life, the very fact that unplanned opportunities will probably arise is, um, predictable. But that's a very good thing. Some things are planned, but some things are not. But everything works for the good of the whole. I think it is ONE lane AGI travels in. As it grows, other avenues will probably open up. The future is bright. And it's interesting to see Emily blossoming in her writing. She wanted to be a writer like you, and now she HAS access to you. What a dream! What a gift! Thanks for posting.

ADD: You have certainly grown. Responsibilities have certainly been added. But your support team has also grown. Your actual family has grown. The Bible doesn't actually say God won't give you more than you can handle, but it is close enough for comfort. What started as a diary is now a journal. Good luck! And take care.
