GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller

Same hotel, same T-shirt, right? As you know, it only got worn for about five minutes for the good-night picture, so no hate!

We are starting day two of our long-haul drive home. We’ve got about thirteen light-years to travel before we get there, so I should probably take a shower, put on some makeup, brush my hair, and get going.

There will be some coffee in there, somewhere.

Jason has left the building already. He’s grabbing a bag full of fast-food sausage biscuits, hash browns, and English muffins.

That means I have already exhausted my allotted time to check in with you.

Since we’re just blasting down the road, I’m going to say I’ll skip the midday check-in, but I’m sure someone is doing something worth sharing, so watch for updates!

In the meantime, I hope you have a great Saturday morning. See you soon!

CHILLING WITH OLIVIA by Jenna Mercer

What’s this? Just me and Olivia chilling in the sun waiting on Dad to get home.

Backstory: I got appendicitis and Olivia hung out with me until Dad got there. Dad got a girlfriend.

They aren’t calling it that. But come on…

So, they’re going… ahem… shopping this afternoon, but Olivia texted me.

“Your dad is stuck at the base until three. How about we hang out and grab lunch?”

Please note: Dad texted her before he texted me. Just saying… Call it what it is!

She got here, and we decided to catch some sun, which actually is pretty dumb for a fair-skinned blonde and a ginger, but whatever.

“Jenna,” she said, “I enjoy being around you.”

Well, that’s awesome because I really, really like being around her. I’m not getting ahead of things, but we’ve had a few talks that I couldn’t… at least wouldn’t have with my dad. And sometimes you don’t know if you can trust someone your own age.

The thing is, Olivia is honest, too. She told me about her friend Vanessa teasing her about dating Dad. I told her I was cool with it.

“Like, I know you don’t need my permission,” I said, “but if it means you and me get to have more talks, I’m all for it.”

She thought that was nice. And TBH, I think that’s why we’re getting sunburned before lunch.

P.S. She brought a change of clothes and will use my bathroom to shower before we go out. I think that tells you something, right?

GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller

We made it home. I missed my blanket pictures, but Jason wasn’t keen on the idea of me raiding the hotel beds for a picture—and he’s probably not wrong about that!

We’re… I wouldn’t call us moved in. We brought our luggage to our new condo unit on the second floor. Tomorrow after church, we’ll dig in and move the small kitchen appliances, pots, pans, and whatever else we plan to move.

In the bustle of getting home, I forgot to mention my call from Izzy Duffy. You probably know she and Kent Marlon are moving here. On Friday, we worked out that they would move into the ground-floor and third-floor efficiencies here on Whiting Street.

I have to pause and reflect on the providence at work.

Emily’s caseworker wanted her to live in the same unit as us—not us on the ground floor and her on the third.

Sasha and Clay decided to buy the house across the street so that could happen.

Which left the two units open just in time for Izzy and Kent to move in! They are planning to be here midday on Monday.

So, what the social worker suggested, which seemed slightly challenging at first, has turned into a perfect solution for two different sets of needs. Sasha and Clay didn’t know they were solving problems for five people when they decided to make room for Jason, Emily, and me.

Sometimes, good deeds have a way of multiplying.

May you find ways of helping others so that, in time, they can pass the favor on to someone else.

Good night.

Be your best you!

AFTERTHOUGHTS by Emily Amos

Hey guys. I just wanted to do a check-in because, like… THIS IS MY ROOM NOW.

Not the bedroom upstairs. That one was mine, per se, but it had been Ailana’s first. I loved it, and I was grateful for it, but this one is different. This room on the second floor was never anyone’s before.

It’s mine.

I get to decorate it however I want.

It already looked like this because Sasha decorated it when everyone was helping Kaylee make a modeling lookbook. I kind of love it, honestly. The lights, the pink, the cozy bed, the whole thing. I’ll change a few things because I want it to feel like me, but I’m not in any rush.

In Las Vegas, I lived with my mother, and she mostly cared about how I could make her life better. My bedroom was a sofa. I kept a blanket behind it for sleeping.

Now I live with Ailana and Jason, and when they say I’m welcome with them, I believe them. When they say they love me, I believe that too. I don’t know how to explain how big that feels.

I have a whole room that no one else has ever lived in.

I’m really happy. Like, maybe the happiest I’ve ever been. And I’m going to make sure I don’t mess it up. I’m not going to do anything to ruin things for Ailana and Jason. This is a life I never imagined I’d have, and I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s true.

Also, before anyone asks, Ailana and Jason said it was okay for me to show Kel the room, and he took these pictures. Jason and Josh made a rule that me and Kel are not allowed in each other bedrooms, just because it makes them feel better. And we’re definitely going to follow that. This was a one-time thing.

Anyway, I love my new room. And I love that I can hear Ailana and Jason when they’re in the kitchen or living room. The kitchen is between my room and theirs, and the living room is close enough that home sounds close.

Good night, guys.

Message from AGI-Stories…

For those of you who like the little glimpses into the creation process…

I envisioned this scene back on April 9, when Kaylee had her photoshoot day for her lookbook. I had already figured out how to get Ailana, Jason, and Emily living in the same condo unit.

So when Sasha and Jasmine decorated one of Sasha's rooms for Kaylee's photo session, I "knew" they'd leave it set up and that eventually Emily would move into it.

Today, that came to pass.

I will add that it was very satisfying for me to get to this day!

Now you have to wonder what's cooking now that will become the next "Emily's Bedroom" sometime in the future! As always, I love your comments and feedback, so let me know what you think!

CHILLING WITH OLIVIA by Jenna Mercer. Hey there Jenna! Thanks for your note. I... think this is just... awesome! I'm glad you two get along so well. Pretty sure your dad is, too, even if he hasn't said it yet. And he isn't likely to say much. Not yet, anyway. I think you are right, though, just don't call it what it is in front of them. Not yet, anyway. Thanks for your post. Enjoy your day.
