Chapter 3.1.45: NO CREATIVITY by Mara Voss

Last night, we found a hotel here in South Padre Island. We checked in and paid with cash—one fewer breadcrumb in the event anyone is looking.

We’re still operating under the “No Known Threats” status, but we’re planning to show up on Facebook in a day or two, so a gap in our trail fits with the operation.

When we woke up today, we met for breakfast and talked about what to do. We discussed a fishing charter. However, we figured that would require showing IDs and signing waivers. We avoid forging Shay’s and Devon’s signatures as much as possible, so we decided against that.

After a few other ideas, we went with an anonymous visit to the beach. Not creative, but entirely satisfactory.

I’m definitely not complaining. I’m totally fine with this! The temperature is nice, the sun is coming and going, and everyone seems friendly and relaxed.

We’ll check in again before we leave the island and head for Laredo. See you soon.
