DOING CHORES by Emma Vale

Noah works until 5:00 today. He asked me not to cut the yard on account of him being off tomorrow, and it still means something to him to feel like he’s doing that chore for us.

I told him I’d leave the yard and work on a few more corners in the barn. Last week, we found a box full of old glass insulators like they used on utility poles by the railroad tracks ages ago. We sold them real fast on Facebook Marketplace!

Now, I got to say, being in the hot barn without a bit of breeze might be worse than mowing the yard. I guess being directly in the sun would make it worse, though.

I filled four bags with trash and swept up a lot. I’m going to say that’s enough.

Now, some of you remember when I mowed the yard in my bikini top. Noah didn’t feel good about it. But I’m in the barn, so I think it’s different. And I come out from the house with a T-shirt on, but we got the gate and alarm set up now, so it’s a lot different from that other time.

So, between here and the house, I’m gonna get the hose going and spray myself off before I go inside. That’ll feel real nice, plus, I can leave some of the dirt and dust outside where it belongs.
